Jay bhai as always a fantastic job, but could we get more of Guptas please. I am just eagerly waiting for you to talk about Guptas more, especially about the emperors and their wars, Like Samudragupta's Digvijay yatra, Chandragupta 2's campaign in Gujarat and Skandgupta's heroic stance against the swata hunas. Do consider my recommendation and as always a fantastic work.

Can we have more vids on the Kingdoms in North India between the collapse of Palas, Pratiharas and the first invasions from men like Ghazni and Ghori? I mean vids on Kalachuris, Chahamanas, Paramaras, Solankis, Gahadavelas, Chandelas, Tomaras, Paramaras, Senas etc I find this era interesting, The north was very disunited, but the tales of the wars and conflicts between the rulers are so fascinating to read about.

Also could you do some videos on the history of various Rajput Kingdoms like Amber, Marwar, Mewar etc, like from the earliest days to the more well-known times. I have just finished reading the "History of Jaipur (1503 - 1938)" by Jadunath Sarkar, and I am currently reading "A History of Mewar, from earliest times to 1751" by Ram Nath Somnani and I found these books absolutely amazing. I never knew the Guhila lineage went back as far as the 500s and 600s. And the fact that the one of the Gurjara-Pratihara rulers, Devapala (948 - 854) was defeated and killed by Rawal Allata of Mewar is really cool (although the Pratiharas were already weak by that time and well in decline by that time and were crumbling).

Could you make videos more in detail about Indian and foreign muslim conflicts? from the very first Umayyad campaigns to Tarain? Other than repelling the Umayyad invasions, we know that Indians had victories before 1192:- Gahadavalas: -In the 1090s/Early 1110s, Masud III of Ghazni leads an expedition into India, and captured the Gahadavala king, who is later recovered by a constant war from Govindacandra, who “forces the Hammira to lay aside his emminity”. A treaty was concluded and Govindachandra retakes his kingdom. -Govindachandra also seems to have repulsed a Ghaznavid invasion as a sovereign, as his courtier states that he killed a Hammira. His wife, Kumaradevi, praises him from “protecting Varanasi against the wicked Tururska". This is probably a reference to him being vigilant in general against the Turks, who may have fought or the frontier of the kingdom. Vijayachandra also seems to have repulsed a Ghaznavid invasion pre- 1164, when Khusrau Malik invaded India with pressure on the western front from the newly formed Ghurids, but was repulsed. Gahdavala records also praise him for this feat. -Jayachandra Gahadavala fought the Turks at Chandawar, and muslim sources make it clear that he was carrying the day and the Turks were loosing morale, but a straw arrow that hit Jayachandra decided the ultimate fate of UP's history for the next 500 years; The death of Jayachandra caused a sudden confusion in the Gahadavala army, which the Ghurids used and turned the tables of the battle. Harishchandra seems to have been able to repulse the Ghurids at Kannauj, as Muslim sources say that the Ghurids went towards Kannauj, but don't mention what happened. the Chahamanas: -Bahram Shah invades and captures Nagaur, and starts raiding into Chahamana territory, but gets repulsed by Anoraja, as attested by the Prithviraja Vijaya and several other inscriptions. - Ajayraja fights and routs the Ghaznavids out of Nagaur. - Prithviraj’s frontier generals repulse several skirmishes of the Ghurids and crush the 1191 invasion. Solankis: - Rout the army of Muiz al din/ Muhammad of Ghor near Mt. Abu at the Battle of Kasahrada.

Thanks for the informative video. Can you please throw some light on whether there was any connection between Khiljis and the Turk Shahi rulers of Kabul?
@JayVardhanSingh2 жыл бұрын
No, the Turk Shahi were most likely descendants of the Kushanas or the Hepthalites. The term "turk" in their name is because Arab sources, from where we get most of our information, used to apply this name to everyone they encountered in the eastern Iranian region (which included Afghanistan).

All good, Jay. However, I would like to correct you on one fact. Before 1206, there was no Delhi Sultanate. There was only the Ghurid Empire. Bakhtiyar Khilji was working for the Ghurids and not for the Delhi Sultanate, which was established by a Turkic slave named Qutb-Ud-Din Aibak after the death of Muhammad of Ghor. Even so, the Delhi Sultanate was initially based in Lahore, not Delhi. That only happened later under Iltutmish. (r. 1211 - 1236)

Why do historians call Hinduism practiced in ancient times as Brahmanism?? Does that mean that lower caste people didn't worship hindu gods?if that is true why do we have 1 billion hindus in India right now??
@JayVardhanSingh2 жыл бұрын
No, I think the term Brahmanical tradition is used to refer to the bodies of text which were preserved and most of the time authored by the Brahmins. The religious views and philosophies in the views are essential component of Hinduism and these were practised by other communities as well.
@Shivathedestroyer042 жыл бұрын
@@JayVardhanSingh Am really interested on how does the caste system in the ancient times work?? Was it worse than today or better??
@JayVardhanSingh2 жыл бұрын
I think it is difficult to know for sure because all we have are religious texts. There's no account of an ordinary person. Whatever you'll read about caste in ancient India will ultimately depend upon what king of source you're using and how you're interpreting them.
@anirudh1772 жыл бұрын
@@Shivathedestroyer04 The Caste system itself developed in the Vedic Period. The original Varna system was probably created as a way of organizing society during state formation and the proliferation of agriculture in India. You assign people functions and rules depending on which of the four broad roles they're engaged in. This helps maintain social order and allow smooth functioning and though this varna was based on birth, people weren't necessarily forced to work in the occupations of their varna (plenty of kshatriya and brahmins engaged in land-owning business, and basically anyone was allowed to work for the military etc). Of course, since the brahmins and kshatriyas controlled the government they tilted the laws in their favor so that they could maintain their power base (and gave some concessions to the business interests i.e. vaishyas as well to retain their support and keep the money-dealers on their side), which explains the unequal social, political and economic situation of the various groups in the hierarchy. In its earliest days, it may have been possible for individuals to go up and down the ladder as shown by the Mauryans and the Nandas, but it soon became more restrictive and rigid. As with any other society of the ancient era, it was extremely difficult for individuals to leave the professions and classes they were born into, and the exceptions tended to be rare, but various communities. groups and Jatis were able to change their position among the varnas and move up and down the ladder based on economic, social and political influences that affected them.

@Alexios I Komnenos True, the Kakatiya monarchs even openly displayed their Shudra ancestry. And the work of a soldier was taken upon by practically ever varna.

What was the reason for his targetting the university-towns of Nalanda and Vikramashila? You did mention his raids in Bihar were to acquire wealth, but was that the reason for his destruction of Nalanda?
@JayVardhanSingh2 жыл бұрын
The destruction of Nalanda had two reasons. Firstly since it was a university town, these raiders thought that they could acquire wealth here. Second, the religious angle was also there. Because if there was no religious angle, there was no need to kill the monks and Brahmin that were present in these university towns.
@vyasak72 жыл бұрын
@@JayVardhanSingh This religious angle is an interesting one. Although I'm not aware of the details, I've read that Huns and Gaudas also destroyed Nalanda before(perhaps partially) and they were rebuilt because they had Buddhist patrons who were willing to donate for the cause. Since the Huns were nomadic invaders, we can skip over them. But Gaudas being Hindus and destroying a primarily Buddhist centre for learning is used to justify how in practice the Indic religious were not very different from the Abrahamic ones. What do you think about this?

The last eyewitness to the ancient Nalanda University is believed to be Dharmaswaman, a Tibetan student there who studied under Acharya Rahul Sribhadra. 1234 to 1236 AD in Dharma Swaman Nalanda Mahavahara If Bakhtiar Khalji's forces demolished Nalanda University in 1193 and set fire to the library there, how was the education and training there until forty years later? Bakhtiar in 1206 ۔ was Bakhtiar had also died in 1206 ۔ Therefore, the research resources used to attribute the downfall of Nalanda University to the Muslim rulers and invaders are definitely unsubstantiated and false. The fact is that the internal chaos of Buddhism and the conspiracies of Brahminism had made the educational system of Nalanda University so unreliable, hollow and far from the society and the original religious education that its downfall . If the books were burning for six months after the grand library of Nalanda University was set on fire and no one from the nearby Ganu or area came to put it out, then this behest is also behind him.
