"Why are all of these songs so catchy?" ... this is why us old people gripe about how music today sucks, lol. I grew up in the 80's and 90's, and to me that's still the best music, they either took it so seriously (80's) or it was catchy as hell and fun (90's).

The lead singer Taylor’s voice was breaking while they were recording this, but they wanted to keep it in the original high key, as it sounded better. They had to record the song piecemeal, trying to catch him on a not too ‘gruff’ day, and in some cases (with the really high notes), cheating by recording it slowly, then speeding it up. After this song was released, they never sang it live in this key ever again.

@@AussieGirl235 Well, maybe that was the way it was in your backwater part of the world. My experience (also as a teen at the time) was exactly as I said it - and it wasn't just prepubescent girls who loved them, I had friends in their late teens and early twenties who were into them, and the whole range from preteen to early twenties went to see them in concert. I also had penpals back then who were into them, and that was worldwide, sooo... 😘

i was a teenage girl in the 90s and beg to differ just because they werent your thing doesnt mean they werent popular 🤣 they were everwhere and won several awards. MMMBop was not their only hit either. The only reason you dont see much if them now is because they went independent when their old record label tried to keep them bubble gum pop and they were grow up, maturing dating, getting married having kids etc so they broke off from their old label and built their own 3CG and now they write, compose, produce etc on their own terms. They still tour and have a large loyal fan following of fans that literally grew up with them. You were quite obviously one of their haters. You right though we shouldnt compare them to BSB, N'Sync or Spice Girls...Hanson write and compose their own music, and they play multiple musical instruments.

The album this came from, "Middle of Nowhere", was one of the finest pop albums of the 90's, IMHO. If you want to try another Hanson song (from the same album), "Where's The Love" is what you want. Just as catchy as MMMBop, but less nonsensical lyrics :-)
