@THExJMC3 жыл бұрын
Well ideally you don't want to spoil your kids as it inhibits them from understanding the true value of money and makes them less appreciative for the things they have. You also want to teach them to earn things for themselves. However, I don't have a daughter and I come from a family of 3 boys. I know it's hard for Dad's to not want to spoil their baby girls.
@Scare283 жыл бұрын
@@THExJMC it’s also very different if the child always gets their way. If the parents just give the kid whatever they want then I agree, but if the kid is good, gets good grades, etc. then I feel like it’s perfectly fine to spoil them every once in a while
@THExJMC3 жыл бұрын
@@Scare28 It all depends on the person. Of course it is ok to spoil every once in a while, especially for good kids. But I also believe there should be an upper limit to the value of something that you give your kids. The most valuable things I ever received from my parents were gaming consoles and those were shared with my siblings. Starting from 7 years old I ran a paper route with my brothers and we saved money gifts from relatives. If we ever wanted to buy something expensive, we bought it ourselves after months/years of saving. Even if I'm doing very well in my life when I have kids I don't think I'd buy them anything over $500 unless they did something extraordinary. I just don't think a young child can understand the magnitude of receiving a $5K gaming PC. It'll just de-value other gifts afterwards, especially if they just received it out of the blue.

Absolutely I am in favour of having them do it themselves though to! when I was a kid I told my dad I wanted a PC (he was a huge computer nerd him and my grandfather) both told me to build it myself. So I did. Lots of reading, lots of messing about lots of confusion but I got there in the end. Now I know more than my father haha - That was the 90s though haha feels like a lifetime ago. The great thing is though, being able to build for yourself means you can build for others too but at least if you screw up when building for yourself there is nobody elses disappointment but your own hahaha
@TheChrisSimpson4 жыл бұрын
@@greatgouda4792 Yeah I was tempted to send them parts and have my brother help him build it (he's 11 or 12 so he can do it haha). But then i kind of got all the parts together and said f*&% it haha. Figuring that he's getting a "top of the line components but from 4-5 years ago" PC I went ahead and did some extra things like cleaning and repasting the 980ti, sending my old 6700K off to be delidded so I can push a 4.6ghz perm all core OC, AIO with push pull, very specifically thought out fan management, etc. After getting everything working (including hacking a coolermaster ARGB controller to work with some strips, cuz kid needs some damn RGB!! lol), I'm glad I ended up doing it because I ended up moving things around a bit while stress testing to get maximum performance. Specifically after watching Gamers Nexus vid yesterday on AIO placement I realized I had the AIO hoses up top and that was bad (on my personal build, they're on the bottom so good to go), Flipped that and literally max temps on a stress test are 5-10º cooler. All in all, this is a silent beast, should be great for 1080p gaming.
