Very hard to say for Jazz this would be "must haves": Miles Davis - Kind Of Blue Sonny Rollins - Saxophone Collosus Dave Brubeck - Time Out Getz / Gilberto Sonny Clarke - Cool Struttin' For Blues I can highly recommend: Muddy Waters - Folk Singer John Lee Hooker - The Healer Willie Dixon With Memphis Slim - Willie's Blues Albert King - Born Under a Bad Sign

Hi Armien, some really great jazzalbums! I loved these Stan Getz-albums. That "Jazz samba" album is high on my wishlist. I have an EP from it and it sounds really good! Stan Getz actually lived here in Sweden för many years, even though it wasn't the easiest time of his life. I also love Art Pepper so that album looked really interesting! Great video! Take care!
@AudiophileLaws9 жыл бұрын
+JörgenS I didn't know that Stan Getz lived in Sweden. Very interesting! I would love to hear more things about the swedish Jazz scene. It seems like there was a real "scene" in Stockholm for example. There is this fantastic album by Art Farmer called "To Sweden With Love". Its high on my want list. Thanks for watching :) Armien

Nice assortment of Jazz. If you ever come across Gary McFarlane check his stuff out you may enjoy it. Also I remember you said you like David Sanborn. His vinyl sounds amazing. Keep up the great videos and thanks for all the information. Kurt

Nice to see you found two more Stan Getz albums. I can not give you any advice on Brazillian Jazz, as my collection consists of popular Brazillian music from the 60' to 80', some Bossa Nova but mainly from the Tropicalia movement. Enjoy your free time listening to records.

Cool. My local shop had some Sonny Rollins (The Bridge) and Wes Montgomery (Boss Guitar) Japanese pressings for about 40-80USD$. A bit over priced for me. If they were less, I would definitely get them. Some of them ony had 6-8 songs on them, which is another reason why I didn't go for them.
@AudiophileLaws9 жыл бұрын
Hello Ross, yes, I agree. 40-80$ is way too much for them. A price around 25-35 would be fair imo. I have a classic records pressing of The Bridge which I got surprisingly cheap. Maybe you can find one as well. Thanks for watching :) Armien

Nice to see Empyrean Isles and Takin' Off. Essential Hancock. It was also good to see all of the Japanese pressings you managed to pick up so cheaply. The shipping from Japan is what kills us here. For every record, I have managed to pick up there, the minimum to ship to the States is on the order of 18 dollars. Lots of great Impulse titles and I had not seen that Paul Chambers album before. I'll be on the look out for that one based on your recommendation.
@AudiophileLaws9 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, actually it's the same here. Shipping kills me every time but it gets a little cheaper when you place a big order. Shipping to Germany is around 15$ and 4$ for each additional item. We Three is a fantastic album indeed! I am sure you would like it! Thanks for watching my friend! Armien

Stan Getz another great player I need get Great stuff cool ads video Armien

Man I just watch this I think. Great ALS, I need the AP as well. Gotta love the French Impulse ... I have 10 I think ! The US thick cover is a plus. Out Of The Afternoon is in my top 10 Impulse. Roland Kirk is crazy ... I have that Shelly Manne but I have distortion everywhere :'( Haan I saw Takin' Off at Hors-Série for 15€, I found the cover to be really nice. Have the Getz Au Go Go but I don't know the other one, will check ! My Favorite Things Coltrane did on "Selflessness" is great too, with Roy Haynes instead of Elvin Jones, and of course you have all the fierce ones in his later period. You killed it with the Japanese pressings haha, that's addictive. I'm also very satisfied with those Back To Black/OJC Fantasy (Prestige, New Jazz, etc.), those are the ones to get cheap !
@AudiophileLaws9 жыл бұрын
Good to hear that man! I still need to expand my coltrane section. We already talked about it but I could imagine that AP will do a 33 version of ALS one day. We'll see! Thanks for watching! Armien

hey man love the finds another question I'd love to get into vinyl but cartridge mounting and setting the tracking force kinda scare me idk why any tips
@AudiophileLaws9 жыл бұрын
Mounting the cartridge is a really important part indeed. Setting the tracking force is really easy since you can buy a small gauge for it. Adjusting the cartridge is a little more difficult but there are a lot of helpers as well. You can buy one of those scales and then carefully adjust it. Another option would be to buy a preinstalled turntable or go to a hifi store and ask them to set it all up. Thanks for watching :) Armien

I'm just getting into vinyl collecting, what's the difference between a Japan press and a normal pressing?
@lukaingo46509 жыл бұрын
Hello AudioPH: Im new about turntables. D you thing expensive turntable like VPI vs Audiotechnica 1240 make difference like price difference it is? Thanks
@AudiophileLaws9 жыл бұрын
+luka ingo Oh yes there is a huge difference. The audiotechnica is a DJ turntable. It is direct driven and also has a cheap cartridge. To my mind it's a bad turntable. In this price ranger I would always go with a Pro Ject Debut, a Rega or something like that. Of course the VPI's are a complete other leauge. Thanks for watching :) Armien

Listening to records for 17 hours sounds like a day well spent. I just found copies of Jazz Samba and Getz Au Go Go for $1 at a thrift store. A good cleaning and $2 made my night amazing and I will be on the lookout for more Getz and Latin Jazz. Wish some of these Impulse pressings were more affordable. Can never find them out and about and the prices on Discogs and eBay seem to be over the top. Cant wait for the next video. Maybe with the time off you have you can get another one up in a couple of days!-Stav
@AudiophileLaws9 жыл бұрын
+Spinnin' Greek man those were some cool finds for Stan Getz. I also want to get more Latin Jazz. The Impulse stuff is really hard to find here in Germany. Normally those pressings never appear. I always have to pay a lot for the shipping. I just heard that there will be some official Impulse reissues by Universal Music. Some interesting titles are included. Maybe that will be a good way to go. Thanks for watching :) Armien
