How did you like those pickups? I'm thinking about getting the same Curtis Novak pickups when I get my squire classic vibe Jazzmaster soon. Right now it's either between those same Curtis Novak pickups or Seymour Duncan antiquity one in the bridge and antiquity two in the neck.

@@jordanebacher They are fantastic. The JM-V is great for the neck and JM-FAT pairs great with it. JM-FAT offers a fuller sound and is a great rock sound that doesn't sound exactly like the neck pickup. Completely changed my JM to my number one guitar.

Another great vid, thanks! I've had the SD Antiquity II in my '66 Reissue JM (now sold) and they were alright when playing at home with the amp volume level (3-4) but really came something special when kicked up to 7 and higher. I never got around to trying the Antiquity I but always meant to. In place of that, I recently bought via Reverb Q pickups' 1958 Jazzmaster pickups and they sound fantastic (nice, dark tone). Q pickups is out of Croatia. Super affordable and fantastic sounding pickups. I have Q Pickups' 1962 - 1963 Jaguar set in my Squier CV '70s Jaguar and they sound quite similar to my '63 Jag's original pickups. Also have Q Pickups' '64 Stratocaster pickups set in my Squier CV '50s Strat and a set of Q Pickups Stratocaster (blue) Foil pickups in my Squier Paranormal Cyclone. All of them are really great - highly recommend. Also recommend Curtis Novak pickups and Lindy Fralin pickups as well.

@@Madmartigan4477 i think a lot of this will depend on your pedals! the antiquity 1's are a bit darker, less treble. if you use a treble booster regularly they'd probably work better than the 2's. if you're using a big muff and no treble booster, then I'd probably lean towards 2's? Thanks for a great video. I have a question that I was hoping you might be able to answer. I have a live rig that is dialed in for guitars with humbuckers and sounds absolutely amazing. That being said, when I run my Jazzmaster through it, with traditional Jazzmaster pickups, it sounds really thin. Like so thin, I don’t want to play my Jazzmaster live anymore. I really enjoy playing that guitar but I can’t get tones out of it that I’d like. I don’t want to change my live rig because it’s my primary rig, and I love the way it sounds with my other guitars. Any thoughts as to what pickups might work better in that Jazzmaster? Or possibly what I’m doing wrong that’s causing the Jazzmaster to sound so thin live.? Thank you.

They all sounded lovely and rich. Slightly against popular opinion on here I preferred the 64 (possibly in reality 65s) then Antiquity 2 then Antiquity. I always find it easier to tone down the Alnico 5 on Jazzmaster. There are some knowledgeable pickup winders who claim Alnico ii was never used on jazzmaster pickups in the 50s.
