I loved the scene but it was a disservice to kill off Danny, in the novel, he goes back to work at the hospice, has been sober for 15 years, and continues to use his “shine” to comfort the dying elderly and show then memories of their childhoods/loved ones, as well as assure them that “we do not end”, allowing them to die in peace, hence the title “Doctor (Doc) Sleep”

the only thing I did not really care for was the stand in for Jack at the end. Just no impact for me. The actress that did Shelley's part fucking nailed it, how she could not over act the impression of Shelley's overacting was mindblowing ha. I don't know I just feel that with the massive improvement in deaging tech I was hoping they would get Nicholson back at least for the voice aspect and do some tricks not to make him look as he does now. No insult to that actor though but he just could never recapture Jack's presence.

I'd have to disagree. Rebecca Ferguson was pretty forgettable to me -- as was the film. Poor "do too much" movie-making -- especially when compared against the more measured masterpiece that was The Shining.

@@abramsullivan7764 I was disappointed in the IT films. CGI jump scare cartoons aren't scary & Muschietti applies every horror cliche. One was stronger than Two, which was laughable, cliched nonsense. Two hours of characters walking into dark rooms waiting for the jump scare. Really bad. A shame. The TV series nailed the dread & horror.

Tbh at first i get no expectations with the movie, but i agree with stephen. The movie feels like homage to both stephen king and stanley kubrick. It does stand of it’s own and does not force the movie to be “kubrick”-y. It’s really thrilling in its own way.

@@jonoeschger1552 Good point, the mini series was much closer to the novel. Jack for example, was not a psycho as Nicholson portrayed in the Kubrick film. More so, a troubled father struggling with the love for his family, alcoholism and his temperament issue in relation to his troubled teaching career. The supernatural, (evil nature) feeds on negativity and attempts to divide and conquer. I too can be a sensitive and I've had a few likewise experiences myself. Believe it or not, It's real.

Then entered Abra and the movie became exeptional. A kind of unique fantasy horror with a pleasant guide that you just waited for to be back on the screen 🖤 One of the very best book to film Stephen King profuctions, ever. The Eyes Of The Dragon (medieval fairy tale written for King's daughter, I believe it's his best book), It (Pennywise the clown is iconic for a reason), Cell (a techno-thriller as only Stephen King could write one), Christine (oldie but a goodie about a possessed car), Skeleton Crew (short stories, some of which are among King's best work), and the Dark Tower books (series of eight Western-fantasy-horror-science fiction-crime story-metafiction hybrids that basically codified the "New Weird" style of writing that became popular in the '90s). The Stand, 'Salem's Lot and Insomnia also reference the Dark Tower books, as most of King's work takes place in the same universe.

Listened to the audiobook, haven't seen the movie. It's funny hearing Mr. King announce what people will say about it, because that's exactly what I said about it. I've read almost all of his books, and Dr. Sleep is the only one I'm aware of that feels as if it's a cash grab. He has been at times less inspired, but never deliberately dumb in the ways Dr. Sleep displays. There are things to appreciate, but it is ham-handed and juvenile in many places. Movie will undoubtedly par the material and birdie the presentation.

I finally got a chance to read both books the Shining and Doctor Sleep. After reading both book and watching the Shining again I really thing that it needs to be redone. I know Jack Nicholson played the role very well, I don't know if there can be anyone that can compare. For both of the stories to come together I do think that The Shining should be remade. I am not saying that I dislike The Shining I do love it but really wish that Kubrick would have stuck with the story in the book.

This Danny Torrrens more like Danny from 1997 series and he remind me Jack T. Nothing common with Jack maded by Kubrick and J.N.

A great movie. My only complaint, they tried to shove too much crap in the bag. This could have been 2 movies, easily. Do 2 great movies, instead of 65% of the first movie being great, and then starts falling apart because you're trying to shove too much crap in the bag. The 2nd movie would be going back to the Overlook, and that would have guaranteed your audience; Especially fans of both books.

Doctor Sleep film sit in a movie continuum with Stanley Kubrick's icy and magnificent The Shining. Stanley Kubrick's The Shining have so dominated the culture that King's efforts to redirect the public to the source. www.dianjinwa.cn/video/53593.html

The film was one of the best adaptations for theathers of a book by Stephen King I enjoyed the film on its release a lot. One of the few films from post 2010s era that was descent enought, woke cinema ruined everything

Rose the hat, so beautiful!!!???,.... I don't understand why people keep saying how beautiful she is, she's not beautiful to me at all, she's an average plain Jane white chick.

If you wrote an awesome book and then some asshole attached that book's name to a movie that barely has anything to do with it, would you be a happy camper? 🙄

@@jeremyfrost2636 The overall concept is literally the same in both the book and the film. It changed some significant details, but that's a far cry from saying it "barely has anything to do with the book" If a film adaptation is exactly the same as the book, then the adaptation has no purpose/value and the filmmaker cannot truly be called an artist.

I think King also didn't like the portrayal of Jack Torrence in the film. Also, he probably wasn't a fan of some of the cast. Honestly, I did not like Wendy Torrence at all
