I just saw t he part of about your 18 year old son. I have an autistic child but I never allowed her to be tested. She is 27 now, can do anything (and I mean anything), still doesn't like being touched, I have to asked permission for a hug. When she allows a hug, I often cry - it is that touching to me. Keep your obvious love and guidance to him, with love kids can and do succeed. Great Job!

I'm going back to this quilt block party you and Jen did back in 2018... this block really intrigues me!! I'm intimated by the 7/8th measurement but I'll have my husband mark it with painters tape on my ruler.. 😆 🤣 😂 Jean, thank you for the blessing that is you. Your personality and teaching is so superb. I feel so loved and cared for as a quilter from your teaching. I really appreciate you. ❤

Oh boy I love this block. Challenging. Do love that. I like your fuzzy cut blocks those are so cute. I love how you laid the blocks out with sizes on them I snapped photo right on my mini iPad and now I can take to my cutting table and get started. I asked my husband if he liked the snowball on the corners of my heart and he liked without. You notice I have black background he picked it out also. All his hot rods are black so he wants the quilt for his cars. Great video Jean🌷

Love this block design (and your color choices)! and, "By a fluke, it all worked out"! heh, heh. My mom taught my sister and I how to sew our own clothes quite early on (I think she was tired of doing it!), so I'm also a sew and quilt 'by the seat of my pants' type gal - fortunately there are a lot of "flukes" that work out (or they just get left in as "design elements"...). Love your light-hearted approach to quilting!

Thank you again for another block! It's so gorgeous. As for why I didn't originally put the cornerstones on the heart block (I've since gone back and added in small ones), it's because I couldn't afford a fat quarter collection that had as many fat quarters as yours. It looks like you have 20 or so different fabrics and I only have 10. I have to be really conservative with how much pretty fabric I use. Whoops! I do have plenty of white background fabric, though, so I've been substituting that in for anything I can. Like with your three seam block--instead of five different 7 inch squares from fat quarters, I only used three and made two of the corners plus the folded bit white. :)
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory6 жыл бұрын
Ah, that makes sense! You are being quite smart and conserving your fabrics! Good on you! I do have quite a lot of fabric to pull from, but you should be proud to be thinking outside the box in your block making! That's what it's all about! :)

I love this block!!!! and it's perfect for a three fabric quilt. I have three fabrics that I have wanted to make into a quilt for a while and this might be perfect. Do you think it would be boring to make it with only three fabrics? I could add sashing and cornerstones in a bold black. What are your thoughts?
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory4 жыл бұрын
I think three fabrics would look super! You just need to be sure there is enough contrast (value) and color definition (not such busy patterns to muddle things up and confuse the eye) and that they harmonize (perhaps look at the color wheel). If you keep those things in mind the three colors would be great:) All the best:)

I absolutely love this block design! Beautiful fussy cutting & fabric color/patterns!! So a scant 1/4 inch seam allowance would be ideal for the entire block? That is something new for me, I really like how a 1/4 marking & foot feels...it’s a visually easier to gauge. Your block looks great .
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory6 жыл бұрын
YES! With so many seams, just a thread off, can throw the block off quite a lot and you can lose points! (Like I did!! ) YIKES! So be careful and DO as I say.....NOT as I DID !! LOL!

Is the quilt going to be set on point? If so wont the heart block be in the wrong orientation? If it will i will make another and use the one i have made already, for a label on the backing, or as part of a pieced backing. Still loving the blocks you are comming up with and enjoying the process of making this quilt, thank you so much.😊
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for following along, but no, the blocks will just be arranged in a straight set, not on point. That way the heart will be configured properly. I think I will be showing how to put it all together with sashing and cornerstones.

Good morning Miss Jean. I have just finished my block 10 this morning and I am wondering something. Some of my squares upto now have measured perfectly. or almost perfectly 12 1/2". Others.....well, not so much. I mean they arent inches off or anything but some are not so perfect. I am not cry babying but I dont have a bank roll to keep buying more fabric to remake some of these. Will there be a way at the end of all this to make the not so perfect squares work? Again, I thank you so much for your time your taking to teach us to quilt. Much Love, Eleanor
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory6 жыл бұрын
Hmmm....if they are not too bad perhaps you could add just a sliver of say, background fabric, all the way around the smaller blocks?!?! No need to make any bigger - would take too much fabric, but if you have a bit of fabric you can be careful to just add tiny 'borders' to all the sides, that way you don't have to cut down your larger ones to match your smaller ones. If this makes sense. You COULD always cut down the larger 12 1/2" ones, but then you would be cutting off their points....I think adding just a smidge of fabric to make the others bigger would be the ticket. And no one would notice once it is all put together and if they do....whatever!!! :)
@selmersweetie6 жыл бұрын
Great Idea! Thats all a few of mine are off anyway...just a sliver here and there. So I might be able to maybe add 1/4 to 1/2 " on all sides then use my 12 1/2 ruler and make sure its perfect? Thank ya ma'am. :)

@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory6 жыл бұрын
Many of these multi-seamed blocks have to be sewn with a precise 'scant quarter of an inch' seam. Perhaps I was a bit lax in making this block ~ and many seams with just a thread off, can result in points being cut off or just to the edge. I have to learn to be more careful in the future. Do as I say....not as I did!! LOL!

so, for the "flying geese" or snowballed sections, we actually need 8 rather than 4 2-1/2" squares of background fabric?
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory6 жыл бұрын
For the unit in my block (which is the 'black flying geese) you will need 8 2 1/2" squares for the snowballed unit 'wings'. So a total of 12 2 1/2" squares to be cut for this one block
@maryschutte83686 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I've got it now. Your video only shows 4 total 2-1/2" squares in cutting instructions. I had changed to 8 for the "geese" and then still had to cut four more for corners. Thanks!
