Finally looking at it, I’m so behind now. It’s 5:32 am and I still haven’t slept. I took a hydrocodone so I hope I’m understanding all this when I start to do this? I’m hopeful I will have enough fabric to start this later today! Thank you so much for everything you have taught me! Have a safe weekend.

I've never done corner stones before! Now I want to try them! You are such a great teacher!😊

So much easier to work with (even though lots of cutting and piecing) than LONG strips of sashing. You can hardly ever really match up the rows perfectly that way. I love my sashing and cornerstones:) Thank you for watching:)

I have truly enjoyed this block party. I am a beginner and my smallest quilt block is 9 1/4 inch, my question is do I still cut my corner stones 2 1/2 inch
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory5 жыл бұрын
I'm so pleased you have done this block party! You really need to have ALL of your blocks the same size ~ say the 9 1/4" ,but the I don't quite know~~~ You know me and MATH!!!!! Ummmmmmm.....I think you could still cut them at 2 1/2" ~~~ someone help here!! LOL! I KNOW you need to cut your sashing to the 9 1/4" to fit your block....and I THINK the 2 1/2" square would be okay.....perhaps you could TRY a small section before you cut them all?!?! HELP!! And here I am ....the TEACHER!! LOL! But trial and error....let me know what you come up with!! LOL! So sorry, I'm pretty useless....but I think the 2 1/2' should work still.....
@annshear6885 жыл бұрын
The corner stones will still be 2 1/2” . They will be the same as the WIDTH of the sashing strips. Hope this helps.

So, will all the cream/red blocks line up in columns and the white/red as well? Or will you begin the next row with red/white block?
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory5 жыл бұрын
I will alternate each row so there is more visual movement around the quilt top.

Looks great. So I am a true beginner. If some of my blocks are not exactly 9.5" square, what is the best way to make certain your washing is out on so your quilt comes out square ?
@spiveytina5 жыл бұрын
Pamela Hotchkiss I’m not an expert, still working on my beginners quilt. I would find my smallest block then square all my blocks to that size. Otherwise you would have to do math for just that small block and increase your sashing width for it to square up. It would stand out a little because the sashing would be larger. That’s what I think.
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory5 жыл бұрын
I agree with spiveytina.....just square your blocks down to one uniform size and work to that dimension. You might cut off some points, but who cares? It is best and better to have your blocks square and the same size ~ that way your quilt will come together easier! Thanks for following along, Pamela!:) Did you enjoy it?!?!
@pamelahotchkiss95315 жыл бұрын
@@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory yes totally enjoyed it. I think my smallest is of tiny prints but I'm on the OCD side and like perfection. Hard to achieve it.y cutting needs work! Keep up the good work you slow things down for perfect understanding.

Hey Jean, if I use my sashing at 2 inches and cornerstones at 2 inches it will match the seam am I wright?
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory5 жыл бұрын
Yup! Just make sure you cut the sashing the exact width of your blocks

I love your chatting but most of all I love the easy way you tell us how to do the quilts. One of these days I will get into quilting. Love love love watching you. Thank you so much. Why don't you go for the advert thing for the tools you recommend and earn a little when people buy? I know you have to tell people but why not because you are supporting another business by telling people about their products affiliate that's what I was trying to think of. lol

Hi Jean, I know you are so busy with you life changes going on, but I have a “newbie” question. Now that things are slowing down over here I want to start cutting my sashing and cornerstones, my question is how do I cut them if some of my blocks are sadly not 9 1/2”? It’s just seems like the task would be way to daunting. Most of then do measure 9 1/2” or very close, but there are those that measure between 9 1/2-9 1/4. Do I remake all of those blocks, or is there a way to get around it? So sorry to bother you with this question, now of all times for what you’ve going through, this is my very first quilt and I just don’t know what to do. Thank you very much, praying God’s blessings over you and your precious family!!!! 💚
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory5 жыл бұрын
Hi Tina! Hope you've had a lovely holiday! Don't worry if your blocks aren't all 9 1/2"....it's just important that they are all the exact same size, so you can trim them ALL down to the 9 1/4" or whatever is the smallest. Then you just have to adjust the sashing size to that size also. Hope that makes sense. And if you 'lose' a point or two in the process (which you probably will), don't sweat that!! It'll take a blind man to see that!! :) And we quilters don't have 'mistakes'...we have design choices! LOL! All the best!
@tinageorge87595 жыл бұрын
Jean Truelove I’ve tried so hard to get my points, but I surely understand that a finished quilt is better the a perfect quilt top, so I will find the smallest and make them all the same. Thank you for responding, God bless you and your precious family! 💚
