I really enjoy your videos. You come across as so energetic and honest. The video quality, framing and editing is very superior. (Vitaly has improved so much. ). I have been watching a lot of videos on Costa Rica to get ready for my trip, I over research and plan heavily. So I can enjoy my adventures to the max. You guys are very entrepreneurial. You recently did some interesting interviews of people living in Bali and people running business. So a long story short, I saw a KZbinr in Costa Rica who makes videos for hotels and brings models to help with advertising videos. I know there are a lot of hotels and travel tour operators in Bali that can use a helping hand. I also know there are a lot of people like me. Who are frugal and want to maximise a short stay on a holiday. Also some of the Costa Rican KZbinrs affiliate themselves with the businesses. (Such as car rentals). I guess what I’m trying to elude to, is that people who are planning to travel to Bali on an adventure would love to see places and hear the stories of the people who run the hotels, restaurants and tours. I still vividly remember my mountain biking tour down the volcano into villages and meeting the families and rice farmers. Just an idea for you, to do what you love and help others.

@@edfast5893 hey Ed! thanks for this kind and very sincere note I really appreciate it. I tried my best to keep this video realistic and based off stuff i have actually done myself so i know its achievable (or scammy, in the case of the surverys lol) - but i'm so glad u like the interview episode. We do wanna do more - i have plans for a few more eps coming along in the next weeks. thanks for the ideas, i am thinking the same as you. Super interested in the stories of people who live and started businesses here n how they did it, cos once upon a time we did the same in Vietnam and its such fond memories to think back now. Costa Rica is a bucket list destination for me! altho in truth, with our retirement funds i'm not sure we'll ever make it across cos it seems pricey compared to asia :) ah well, no complaints about the surf here in Bali haha! Enjoy your upcoming hols to the max eh

Hi there IM Gar, thank you for leaving me such a kind note of encouragement. This topic of how some people work for most of their lives and know nothing but work has been on my mind a lot lately. I know it’s a little iffy to start on this journey of self discovery and learning to enjoy your free time productively but know that it’s gonna make you so happy once you get in the swing of things. Everyone should be doing this. It makes a huge difference to how we live life. Good luck u!

Thanks for sharing your experience and assessment on these side businesses. My wife & I started investing in real estate as side hustle 20+ years ago. Our main focus was positive income on each property, we did flips (re-sale) only if the market was fast enough (in Alberta & Saskatchewan, Canada, this has not been a frequent occurrence during the time span). We have been traditional, relying on the model of "buy, improve and rent out". In the first 10 years, net income per property per month was like $100 - $200, but the main money contributor during this period of time was the loan principal pay down ($500+ per property per month, PPPM), which led to a total monetary contribution of $700+ PPPM. Whenever there was a rapid value rising market, we would select our lower income generating property(ies) and sold them for profit and then immediately bought some with higher income potentials. We have experimented with owning single houses, apartment units (condos), entire apartment buildings, retail spaces, residential land and an institutional building. All these were happening while my wife & I were earning modest income in our jobs. Lending policies were more lenient back in time, making it easier when we first started. As time went on, our portfolio of ownership grew and so did our real estate related liability. Banks started to see more us more as contingent liabilities. Luckily, we were able to convince secondary tier financial institutions to finance us based on simple ownership structure, squeaky clean credit history and networth. Somewhere in our second decade of RE investment, we shifted from portfolio growth in quantity to rapid loan pay down/off on what we owned. And this shift improved the quality of our lives a lot. From that time onward, we were not under the pressure of cash deficiency constantly. We are planning to move back to Asia and would love to experiment with side hustles as suggested by you and with creative real estate hustles. All the best Jean.

Honest truth about the level of difficulty in starting a KZbin channel and reaching just $500 a month revenue. A lot of people jump into it and realised on a later stage it’s not as easy as it seems. It’s like us watching sushi master slicing all those fish 😂 Edited : what i meant was that this video is the hard facts that not much youtubers or digital nomads fully explains. 😉😊

First month getting few hundred is fantastic. Most people have problem reaching that 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours, I have friends who spent a lot and still haven't reach that 4000 watch hours. Others who first get monetized, they'll take a long while before getting a payment as they take time to reach payment threshold. Basically it depends on topic. One thing I like about your channel and see why you can earn, is that your sharing of your stay in Bali and all, it's really interesting and can be appreciated by many. 👏 And you're right about stability, I get A LOT more during the time of pandemic.

Hello Jean & Vitaly! I've been traveling so haven't commented much but I've been watching every video:) I thought about starting a KZbin channel, bought a small camera and some gadgets, learned how to edit videos, shot videos, but I find that editing takes so much time. Coming up with content and shooting scenes I need also take so much time, and it's even harder without a camera person (and can't possibly ask my partner to take videos for me all the time coz it isn't his thing). I've posted a couple of videos, but at the end of the day after some soul searching, I have decided that I don't really feel comfortable with the idea of becoming a public person haha. I do like writing though so I'll probably start a website as a hobby and I'll just keep watching other dedicated and talented KZbinrs like you:)
@JeanVoronkova
@JeanVoronkova Жыл бұрын
heyo you! it's always nice to get your note! :) Where have u been travelling to? I understand what you're saying - it was the same for us at the beginning - painfully slow.... but i think we were lucky in the sense that we started in the midst of the pandemic where our biz had shut down, n we were in quarantine at home mostly... so a lot of time to watch skillshare, youtube tutorials etc n practice shooting and editing! was kinda how we passed the time... same for me when i went to Moscow .... i was basically a trailing spouse whilst V was doing renovations for our properties there... that's how i kept busy that period to keep feeling productive and on my toes yeah :) I am similar to you too. Till today, I still feel awkward knowing that quite a bit of our private life is online for the edification of the general public... but that is somewhat offset by the gratification of people reaching out to say that our sharing helped them in some way or another... that our sharing gave them inspiration.. or changed their lifes or thoughts in some respect. Life is always a give and take i guess! I am always and foremost more of a reader and writer than a visual person actually like you i guess. I think an engaging website is as great a thing as a KZbin channel. U can check out More to That, a site of writings by Lawrence Yeo. He's my latest craze!

@@JeanVoronkova Just in western Europe. I quit my job and started traveling haha, but I'm going home next week:). Thanks for recommending Lawrence Yeo's site. I had a quick look and I like it already! I think you're doing a great job sharing your life publicly in angles that really benefit people or at least resonate with many so keep up the good work! I've also noticed you have a good boundary too, like when you're spending time with family, you take time off posting, etc. which I guess can be hard to do for some established youtubers that are on a momentum to generate more subscribers as they feel the need to keep the engagement up (and sometimes some of them end up just posting for the sake of it so audience lose interest). Have a nice weekend in Bali!

@JeanVoronkova
@JeanVoronkova Жыл бұрын
hi Noor hehe thanks glad u liked the sharing. Actually there isn't much to the visa question so if u wanna come here for a more longer term basis the most 2 common ways people do that is to get a B211 visa (that's 6 months at a go, but for this period still, u can renew without leaving Bali, so it can potentially go on for a long time until the authorities change their mind...) or u can look at getting an investor Kitas (2 years). U can google these 2 for more info. Hope that helps!

You're a great speaker and this was really interesting too. I have freelanced for years and my takeaway is that easy to get a steady income from freelancing online. That's from my perspective as a developer, might be different for others. Freelancing in real life, looking for real customers has been much more rewarding. But even then, you have to put in the work to keep getting gigs. Conclusion: there is no easy way to earn those 500 bucks a month. Really appreciate that you kept it real in your video.
@JeanVoronkova
@JeanVoronkova Жыл бұрын
you're totally right and i did forget to mention that in the video - freelancing is basically running your own small business w u as the product, and growing the clientele and getting good feedback is immensely rewarding. Its a continuous hustle in that sense too yeah - gotta keep the customers coming in, but once there's some kinda base I found that things also took on their own flow for me... till today i still get emails and referrals for yoga n surf even though we've stopped teaching for eons. All the best in your developer freelancing Dom!
