The film's subject CHARLIE, aka Charles H Warner (my father), passed away June 8 2023 in NYC, at the young age of 91. He was still loving teaching college until 4 months before his passing, still living as vibrantly as in this film. He visited the Met 4 days before his death because he loved art so dearly. His line at 6:18 especially resonates: “Burning Man is the symbol of life. What it teaches us is to celebrate death. We Cannot be afraid of death. We have to celebrate it“. So thank you Jan Beddegenoodts for making this film, and as Charlie said, "let's have fireworks, let's have fun" and celebrate death.

+serena bernstein what you think you know about Jesus, is from the filter of having a heart that is of stone. Just because you suddenly talk about love and say that this place is all about love is a total counterfeit. You guys act just like they did in Sodom and Gomorrah period sex, drugs, psychedelic drugs, drunkenness, and orgies. Jesus is God, that's what the Bible makes very clear that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead and that those who die outside of his grace they are going to burn in hell. Just like you see that Burning Man it is only indicative of what you will be like outside of the grace of God if you do not repent and believe the gospel and turn away from your sins not to mention this Pagan practice that is nothing new Under the Sun to God. the Jesus that you probably believe in is a new age Jesus that has nothing to do with the biblical Jesus. and if you say that the biblical Jesus was all about love. Well I got a couple scriptures for John 3: 36 where John the Baptist says to the one who trust in Jesus shall see eternal life but to the one who does not believe in Jesus shall not see eternal life but the wrath of God abides upon him. your view and I guarantee of Jesus is a view that is extremely skewed and from a place of not being born again as it says in John 3. And it is exactly what it would probably be in terms of what Jesus said in Matthew that there will be false prophets and false christs period did Jesus you believe in I guarantee you do not believe is God almighty. And I guarantee you that you do not believe that Jesus rose from the dead after being crucified. I also would say that you do not believe that Jesus is the only way of salvation. So if I'm right in saying that then I'm pretty sure that the Jesus you believe it is a false Jesus which Jesus declare would be one of the indicators that we are in the last days. never the less, you can always repent of your sins and turn to Jesus and be given eternal life truly by repenting of your sins

I think I understand about Jesus. Even Tylenol is a drug. The chemicals in the American diet alter our body and mind. The body mind and spirit are connected. I expect that you are inspired to write out of love, as am I. I want the greatest amount of health for everyone. We want everyone, all the time, to choose very healthy habits. This means we have to stop the causes of pains that are emotional or physical. The Bible is translated. The people who are reverands will tell you they are human. You can read the Bible with your feelings. There is not a way to use words to explain the love for your child and letting your child die. I try to explain it to people because of the joy available in life. It's like living in the light. We are all God's children. I want to start my own religion. There is one truth. I can't change the truth. I wouldn't want to.
@theserenalin
@theserenalin 8 жыл бұрын
I could write forever to try to say what I know about Jesus. I understand why you say, "Don't listen to me, it's here in the Bible." I try to be like Jesus. Somewhere in the Bible it says that if you do good works like Jesus did then you are serving God. God wouldn't leave out the brain damaged innocent young child as far as I can wrap my head around God. The people who go to Burningman are on a level of not struggling for all their basic needs, at least while they are there. There is no money or greed, you can let your guard down and use your senses, mind and body to let more into your awareness. I don't care for this music at all, even when I was in my office working and my husband played it. I wish more people acted like Jesus. If only they would do what they were taught in church. Most all my relatives only go to a synagogue. Maybe they're screwed.
@jesusreigns3330

+serena bernstein the Bible can only be interpreted in terms of understanding that is inspired by being born again. John 3, the Bible is for the born again believer. Jesus died on the cross to save us from hell, and eternal conscious torment forever, simple. however, that is being saved from one eternity of punishment, then by the blood that Jesus, God, shed on that cross and rising from the dead to those who repent, acknowledge that you have broken God's law and are deserving of his eternal punishment, then that is when you read that Jesus ransomed us humans from the law of the ten commandments having to be kept perfectly, which Jesus did. Understand that God came down, took on flesh, and was fully God and fully man. Jesus is the only way of salvation. Jesus says that one must be born again to inherit the kingdom of God. all our good deeds are like filthy rags to God in terms of being able to stand vindicated in judgement. Why? Because God is perfect and his conditions to be with him forever, a person must be perfect, that is why The Bible makes very clear that by Grace, undeserving gift, through faith in Jesus is one pardoned before God. Burning man is demonic and straight controlled by humans as ponds and driven by demonic forces that you can not see. I will leave you with a scripture Eph. 6 says our warfare is not against flesh and blood but against, the spiritual forces of wickedness in high places. I am sorry you can not talk about Jesus and then some how back up burning man. You all need the real Jesus to save you from your sins. This eternal life that they come to know you the only true God and to believe in his Son, Jesus. Jesus says in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, the life and no man comes to the Father except through me. Jesus is the only way of salvation. That means that there are many ways to hell and only way to God. Not vice versa. God loved us so much he sacrificed his perfect sin in the flesh. The Bible says that it pleases God the Father to crucify his own Son. Why? Because of the Son stepping out of eternity, out of glory, constantly being in the Fathers living presence to come down to a fallen sinful world and to complete the task of salvation by his perfect work out of the 10 commandments, never sinning, his perfect personhood, and perfect blood. the Bible says that without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. Jesus did not come to a religion, but a relationship with the Father only through himself to reconcile us back to God to make right what went wrong in Genesis 3 when Adam and Eve sinned, by sending the Holy Spirit to one well all those who are born again and will inherit salvation.

I think this video is just kinda wonderful in itself. Without putting any external judgments on it, this festival and Charlie's life-changing experience are both kind of sacred, inexplicable things. While the festivities, individuals, music, and art might all appear somewhat wild, provocative, and straight-up bizarre to many who are partial to Western culture, I think there's a lot of beauty in individual expression and spiritual experience, whatever that might mean. All of these people, regardless of age, race, or belief, are warmly engaging one another just based on the simple fact that they're human beings. Isn't that something special? World peace is a marvelous theory, and while I don't think it's feasible I do have faith in these small-scale human engagements that value individual character and carry a message of unconditional love.

I am 64 now and hope to go again. My heart chakra literally opened there, without any drugs. Just art, the vastness of the playa and mostly due the serendipitous and generous spirits of everyone I met. If the whole world was like Black Rock City, even once a year, humankind would be blessed. Thank you Charlie, where ever you are - so glad you were here!!!

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Bravo! So cool to see Charlie get revitalized, inspired and motivated by coming home to Burning Man. To those who have never been, I repeat what Larry Harvey said "Stop talking about someday going to Burning Man... Just go!"

Charlie, you did an excellent job of putting Burning Man into a film. I have been to the Playa 5 times and I am bringing what I learned to the rest of my life. I am spreading the good values that I learned from it. I am an agnostic New Yorker, who is pretty spiritual. I've had evidence of order in the universe at Burningman. I wish I could give every person who is in a religion, who thinks they understand the bible, a lesson right now about God, The son of God, etc!

I'd have to be omniscient to know anything for sure. Your understanding can grow many levels, and in some ways everything seemed to make sense already. When you accept that you don't know, like an open book, but you see what you do know, it becomes kind of clear, because truth and love is common sense, like Jesus. I didn't expect your film to have any negativity in the comments! The non-supportive comments made me want to comment! It feels really bad to have people say their way is the way. BM society is more spiritual and closer to truth, so it will grow. Non truths, like the flat world will die out. It is not a party. I watch people work much harder & happier for BM than for their jobs. I believe that a gift economy is realistic in everyday life. The more you give to me the more I want to pay it forward. I do it. Work out of love to support others, maybe take less too, out of love for others. The bible is about feeding & clothing your neighbors.

Not sure what this comment even means, Off, but I can assure you that, in my experience, every time I've been to Black Rock, I've seen a few 20-somethings face their mortality with profound effect. And somehow always from different causes.

I think that's a pretty huge statement given that there's 70k people... given that 1 in three people experiance cancer in their life before 30, either personally or with a family/friend, you'd be amazed at how many people under 30 actually do understand grief and death.
