Jeep cherokee XJ. U-joint or CV axle shaft?

Mine have the CV Joint, and actually just got back from Red River Gorge and broke my driver side one. Appreciate the video. Made it look pretty simple.

Thankfully with a CV when you break it you can drive home where a ujoint tends to bust the lower ball joint and kick the knuckle out when it fails under hard throttle.

Cv axle will be “weaker” but only compared to a regular axle that is pointed straight the more angle you put in the steering the weaker it gets Benefits of CV axle is its smoother doesn’t bind and when you do break one you can still drive it home Get the lifetime warranty ones from the parts store and just exchange when they do break
