I have had my car to the dealer twice for this problem. First it was the driver side and they replaced my whole sunroof stating that was the problem. Now I have the same problem on the passenger side but the dealer claims the drains are not the problem and they cannot tell me what is wrong. I know other people have had this problem and this video shows that. I DO appreciate this video and hopefully I can get my problem fixed. Thank you

Apparently the drain hoses are notorious for leaking. I just sold this 14 year old Commander last. I still looked good as new. Thanks for the comments!

The issue is with the upper part of the sunroof from where tubing plugs in. The drain holes up there are super small. If there's any small debris, the rain will come out from each corner of the sunroof and on to every section of the vehicle. This is a known issue. Maybe that's why the vehicle was discontinued.

So glad this video helped. I have a longer video with more detail I will upload soon when edits are finished. There are actually drain hoses in the front and rear of the sunroof of the Commander. With the sunroof open looking down on it from the top (I used a ladder) you can pour a little water towards the drain opening and you should see it run out underneath the vehicle. Sometimes these hoses deteriorate over time and leak behind the interior trim even though still attached to the floor grommet. Thanks for the comments!

Had the same problem this a.m. on the passenger side. The floor was soaked, but there is also some water that leaked out from the handle on the rail between the windshield and passenger window. The drain hose is obviously not blocked as the floor was soaked.

Sorry to hear about the leak, it can be aggravating. I bought my Jeep new in 2006 and 12 years later I still like the vehicle even with all the things that go wrong with it. The alternator went out last week and the new one comes in tomorrow. I hope to make another video on this so it may help someone troubleshoot and repair their charging system. Thank You Viewers that have requested for the more detailed video. Sorry it is not completed yet but I will have it uploaded when finished. There are a total of 4 drains for the sunroof, 2 in the front and 2 in the rear. All are similar as to how they let the water drain and it only takes a small leak to flood your vehicle.

Hi Steve, Sorry you are having trouble too. I will upload the complete video as soon as it is completed. In the mean time there are 4 drain hoses for the roof, 2 in the front and 2 in the rear and they are very similar to this fix. Thanks for the comments!

Hello Dave...I'd like to see your more detailed video please. My blue hoses are clear and the rubber nipples on the floor ends are clear.. But even with the tubes clear if there's too much water it can't get down the drain holes in the sun roof quick enough and then the water backs up and still finds its way down the A piller leaking out of the handles ! Is there another avenue that theater takes that you know of? Thank you you for any help. Bob

Thank you for this video. I also find my seats, front and back are wet, soaked in and the seat heater on the driver side no longer work. Could the seals in the roof be shot? You help on this would be appreciated.

Sometimes one of the 4 sunroof drains will get clogged especially if not using covered parking and the water will leak on the inside. I sold this Commander several years ago and occasionally see it being driven. It was a good vehicle.

Please need more info. What is the grommet called exactly? When I purchased it, it started leaking immediately I replaced the hose on one side and when looking at the grommet it was just the upper section without the retainer bottom section. I didn’t think anything of it, but that may just be the culprit. Would love to see a more detailed video.

I BET LATTER ON YOU TOOK THE HOSE BACK OUT OF THE GROMMET AND GOT RID OF THE RETAINER. THEN CUT A BIGGER HOLE IN THE GROMMET. CAUSE THIS WILL CLOG UP AFTER A WILE AND WILL CALLS IT TO LEAK! I HAVE AN 06 JEEP COMMANDER AND I AM JUST NOW HAVING TO DO IT TO MINE!!
