PARENTAL WARNING: Please be advised that there are adult themes in this video as well as a few instances of un-censored swearing.
The final two days of Lobster Quest, the Nitto JL/JT Experience presented by KMC Wheels began with a psychedelic trip to the northern most off-road park in the lower 48 and that would be, the Rocky Mountain Terrain Park near Carthage, Maine. In addition to the moderate trails working their way up into the hills, the park also features a tire obstacle, jumps, mud pit and cars you can drive on. However, the owners of the place and their groovy compound is worth the visit alone. Our final wheeling destination was to a high overlook near the sea port town of Camden and it is known as, Mount Pleasant. The wheeling to get there was beautiful and a lot of fun and on a clear day, you can see all across the Penobscot Bay. We hope you enjoy the video and had fun watching the entire series.
This video was independently filmed, edited and produced by Cindy and Eddie Oh of WAYALIFE. The opinions and actions of the individuals featured are in no way affiliated with or attributable to Nitto Tire, KMC Wheels, Off Road Evolution or any of the JL/JT Experience sponsors.

The Skyjacker Gladiator is a prime example of why big horsepower and torque don’t always play nice in a Jeep. Where others don’t have the power, that one just blows through the tires on many an obstacle.

Lewis and Clark said the Indians used to ride without any shirt on. Just short skins for pants. Even in the winter in the Dakotas. They would unfurl their bison skins at night and cover themselves to sleep and then knock the snow off in the morning before they mounted back up. Beautiful country again.

Oh.. that lobster looks good~! Also thanks for giving the perspective of the NE on wheeling. Here in Alaska we can legally make our own trails on state land, mind you following certain guidelines from our DNR (department of natural resources). So it's a totally different perspective than there where one has to get permission to off road on private property.

Is it possible to upgrade your axles with stronger gears to make it the equivalent to a dana 60 or would you recommend changing out the axles all together? Just wondering cuz with an axle swap your kind of taking away part if the thing that makes a rubicon electronically
@wayalife
@wayalife 4 жыл бұрын
No. Anyone who'll try to tell you otherwise is just stupid. The shafts and u-joints on a front UD60 are crazy bigger than a Dana 44. Also, the factory rear 44 shafts are semi-float and the UD60 are full float and if you've ever seen how much bigger and beefier the ring and pinon are, you'd know why there is no way you could "make" a 44 as strong as a 60. That being said, there's a LOT more to a Rubicon than just it's axles such as it's awesome 4:1 transfer case, electronic sway bar disconnect, way nicer interior, option to get a big NAV system, higher resale value and so much more! If you do it like we did and sell your factory axles while their new, you can get a really pretty penny for them too.

Hi Eddie, great footage as usual. One question, I sold my JL and bought a Gladiator in Canada. (The Gladiator is not for sale yet in Europe). I want to put a Sky Jacker 4.5” b 3” lift kit on it with 40” Cooper Discoverer STT Pro tires. What gears do you recommend on the Dana 44 axels? 4.88 or 5.15...... or do you have another suggestion for lift kit, tires and gears? Hope you can give me advice! Best regards from The Netherlands. 🇳🇱❤️🇺🇸✌️👍🥇
@wayalife
@wayalife 4 жыл бұрын
If you're planning on wheeling your Gladiator, your Dana 44 axles will not last long running 40" tires. 5.38 are what you be running with 40's but the pinion is really small and you will blow it out kind of like you see on Synergy's JL in this video and he was just running 37's. 5.13 or 4.88 will be a tiny bit stronger but your Jeep will feel like it has no power. What you should be considering is a set of Dana UD60 axles.

So if you could only have 1 Jeep set up as a daily driver and enough mods for weekend adventures, would you choose a new JL Unlimited or the JT Gladiator?
@wayalife

Me personally, I would choose a JT Gladiator.

I'm glad to hear you enjoy the music we use but unfortunately, they're tracks that we buy the rights and don't really have names so much as descriptions. Sorry.

Maine, my old stomping grounds. Lift laws are way too strict there. Where I moved too is way more lenient. What's legal here would never ever get an inspection sticker there

Yeah, sure seemed like things are tough back there. Kind of a bummer.

@@wayalife yes it is, Maine is beautiful especially during the fall foliage season, people are friendly for the most part. They're just strict on their lift laws and that keeps a lot of nice rigs off the roads. Nice Gladiator btw. All your rigs are top notch as always

God you guys need to get a real xj or old gmc for these maine trails
@wayalife
@wayalife 4 жыл бұрын
LOL - of course there are rigs better suited for these trails but that wasn't the point of this trip. The point was to purposefully take rigs like this and see what they could do.
