Mines an 07 that i bought when i was 20 with 12 miles on it. Since then i have kept the look stock. I had the computer re flashed so it bypasses the deal that makes it run quieter. Also have a tuner and exhaust. That's added about 70 hp and 110 tq. Then the intake swirl motor shit the bed. I was dreading the $4000-7000 fix. But, XDP diesel sells a plug that tricks your computer into thinking it's running right. I've had it for the last 15,000 miles with no problems and the plug was only $30. Love the Jeep, love the video my friend. Keep it Canada! Respect, from Utah!

the new grand Cherokee motor is built by VM (venture motori) Italy, which is owned by fiat, they also built the 2005-2006 liberty diesel engines. nice jeep, I have a 2006 liberty CRD myself.

Good info I have heard there putting that engine in there Ram trucks and there Jeep Grand Cherokee 's. It's going to be a good motor. I think they said over 400 foot pounds torque on that new motor.

I own this, love it but best on HWY is 22/23 when running 80, because it runs so easily at 80. If a light foot at 55 to 60, then around 25. I drive now in mixed driving with a medium foot at 20 to 21 mpg. Diesel costs more but when you consider towing capacity and no DPF nor Urea when it comes to maintenance costs, then it is the way to go.

Mine is a 2005 and is identical over in the UK and has just on 102,000 Miles. Thats around 165,000km. The throttle body is actually an electronic actuator, when you shut it off and hear the wheezing and things - look carefully and you'll see it close up/pop down, same for pre-start - with the ignition on. I've done a couple of video's of mine and am also getting tyres a little different to SRT :) Nice review btw.

Hey Cory. Do you still have your 2008 crd jeep grand cherokee? If yes, how has it treated you over the past three years? I'm considering buying a 2008 with a 145000 km and I'm just curious if you would buy it all over again given the chance? Also thanks for the update on the mods ... this one is bone stock and begging for some upgrades. it's at a dealership; is there must do's you would recommend before taking it off the lot (ie. all fluid change is an obvious one ... I believe an engine flush is around 170,000 km)?

Owned one of these. 90% highway (110-120 km/h) 10% city. Never have I gotten the mileage you claim. 10 l/100km at best, dipped into the high 9's at times, measured with a scanguage2 hooked into the obd port. I ran stock tires 3 seasons and toyos winter, so some resistance. I had 269k on it before it was rear-ended and totaled. Otherwise, I agree, this would be a 500k-800k motor. The new ecodiesel is a VM Motori diesel originally sources from GM about 25 years ago. I have one and it is definitely a different beast than the old mercedes crd.

been thinking about buying one of these for years. i'm a diesel guy and i just don't think id be happy with a newer gas half-ton. i test drove one for sale here last summer and really liked the way it drove. it drives very 'german'. holds revs in gear, shifts firmly, and is predictable. I'm about 85% sure i'm going to buy one. is there anything else i need to know that i won't find out until i buy it? also how does it start in the winter after being outside not plugged in for a few hours? i had a Jetta TDI for 8 years and i loved it, but VW's like to eat parts. miss the baby diesel though

@KcYukon 9 жыл бұрын
This thing starts great in the winter I love the fact that the engine has a chain for timing. It does not have a belt you have to change every 100 K. Honestly I plan to keep it as long as it will run. Great Jeep heats great in the winter I mean you can't go wrong with one of these units. I also have 02 jetta and the jetta has one advantage it's better on fuel.
@KcYukon
@KcYukon 7 жыл бұрын
One other thing I should mention in winter if its more then -20 C you will need to plug these vehicles in... If there plugged in -20 C or colder they will start fine no problem. I have 238,000 kms on mine and its still going strong!!

@@KcYukon lol so i'm reading through the comments and see this and realize i actually have seen this video before. i bought an 08 GC CRD 3 years ago. it was traded in on a new cadillac and had only 51,000 Kms on it! it had been in a garage and never seen winter until i owned it. the dealership posted it on kijiji on saturday afternoon without a picture, i saw the ad and was standing outside the door when they opened monday morning. they actually said 'we haven't even put it through the shop yet, we don't know whats wrong with it!' i said i know what's wrong with it. nothing! i test drove it, tried everything out and it was flawless. i bought it on the spot leaving the chevy guys scratching their heads. before i left with the paperwork they had over 2 dozen frantic phone calls about it. then they wanted to know "what do you know about that car that we don't?" i told them i've been looking for one of these for 3 years and was prepared to pay a lot more than they were asking. anyway i absolutely love it and i am one of those 'car guys' that obsesses over every single detail and i cannot find any way to improve this engine/transmission combination. i replaced the leaky elephant hose and cleaned teh swirl motor electrical connection when i got it. i have to replace the original serpentine belt this spring along with the fuel filter. number 6 glow plug burned out but replaced it myself. these injectors can leak soot/fuel so keep an eye out for that but mine was clean. i got all my information from conflictedracer.wordpress.com/2013/09/03/2007-2008-5-wk2-crd-faq-jeep-grand-cherokee-diesel/ before i bought it. you can never know too much. i basically sold a volkswagen golf to a guy in the vw parking lot in saskatoon when i had a jetta. i was waiting for service work and wandering around the parking lot. he asked me about something, he must have thought i worked there, and i knew more than the sales guy did so i could answer every question. he's like okay i want one lets go inside and make a deal. i was like i don't work here i'm just a volkswagen nut. i'm waiting for my car. anyway now that i've owned my Jeep for awhile i should do a quick review of it. i cannot find anything wrong with the engine/transmission system. the jeep part is acceptable quality. i'm a little worried about rust but planning to do some wheelwell painting and rustproofing before next winter. this is a million mile engine i just want to have some jeep left by then.

Still going strong and reliable Knock On Wood!!! Love this jeep i don't ever see getting rid of it almost at 300,000 kms and it still pulls and lots of power like a beast... I highly recommend these Jeeps... One thing I know is that make sure oil changes are done by Jeep dealership it takes special Mercedes oil or something like... If you use just regular diesel oil apparently it can plug the emissions system which will throw engine code. This has never happened to me but to be honest I always get oil change done by dodge dealer.... Now if it ever did go I would get the delete for it and just delete it out of the system... More power and better fuel mileage if you do the delete... greendiesel.com has the delete good luck with purchase!!!!! :) :) :)

Hey how many km or miles do you get per tank? and how much do you get in the winter, does having the heater on make a big difference to the engine? I'm really interested in buying one of these jeeps, but kind of unsure if I really want one. Also how is the space in for the rear passengers? They don't seem to be very roomy for a mid size suv.
@KcYukon
@KcYukon 10 жыл бұрын
Hey Sunny the best I have seen is in the summer 30-34 US MPG in summer. Heater does not make any difference, winter driving does drops to about 28-32 US MPG. Again this is driving very conservative. Driving with regular foot I see 23/25 US MPG that's town/hwy combined. The other numbers are straight hwy at 60 MPH. Engine is super smooth and quiet for a diesel, power comes on nice. Lots of room for my family 3 kids. Overall great jeep 8/10 stars. Only thing I wish it had one more gear for HWY driving I find with the lower gears are great for pulling but it revs around 2300/2400 rpm at 60 MPH. Also kms to a tank on average about 730 kms. Hope that helps.

I personally drove our 2008 Jeep Diesel to over 400,000 kms and then I sold it for good money. It was still running strong when I sold it just like knew... I think with low kms that engine I was told will go over a million... I was told Mercedes developed that V6 diesel in the 80's and kept perfecting that motor over and over... Mine was awesome all i can say... Electrical worked, nothing was not working at 400,000 kms A/C was strong... Transmission still strong... I did do the delete and other then regular maintence it was fine... So like oil change, tires, I did have powersteering hose blow 2 times but that was easy fix. Ya I loved it, I went to Ram EcoDiesel and I love that truck even more better for work and play. BUT FREAKIN EXPENSIVE TO BUY :(

At 110,000 miles it should feel like new still.. mine has over 200,000 + still feels great no.raddles, no strange noises. Also that Eco tune is done so you don't have to worry about emissions DFI filter would plug if you didn't use Mercedes approved oil for oil changes. I haven’t had a chance to see the Jeep as the owner is out of town he told me the only issue it has is he says it has a oil sweating issue this is his reply to me. “Actually I do not know where it comes form. I have had several people look at it and no one has been able to point to any obvious location. From my research the Oil cooler can sweat oil causing oil to be every where with out any major oil loss” he says he just power washes it once a year to keep engine bay clean but it’s never given him a issue and his mechanic says it’s not a concern that’s why he has never fixed that issue. Do you have any knowledge about this? Again thank you soo much!!

@@benmarykuca4144 we still have ours its still our main vehicle at 340,000 kms now after I got eco tune get about 7-9 L/100kms depending on wind direction and temps of course... I would highly recommend getting it done.. There is a guy out of Mitchell that does it if you need his info. its a great Jeep! I should say even at 340,000 kms I impressed how it feels new still.
