I know two people with the Track hawk and Y Performance. They both also own 911’s as well. One of them traded his hellcat in for the track hawk. All great vehicles. I have the 3 Performance on mountain pass coilovers and a Model Y Performance. The Teslas are plenty fast for me, but I do miss my old V8. I still have a modded manual E46 M3 for the weekends and a lifted 4Runner for off road duties.

There are so many gasoline powered vehicles that are far more worth it than ANY jeep. That wrangler/truck abomination has me looking in the opposite direction. And the models less marketed to off-roading seem like a southern grandpas wet dream. Cadillac/GMC are making far better luxury cars and I would much rather have the bronco or an actual atv for off-road life.

And the data suggests that Tesla batteries that drove 500,000 miles have around 80% percent of their original capacity left. Tesla is even working on a batterie that will be capable of driving 1 million miles. To set that into perspective, Petrol engines on average last around 150,000 miles before completely breaking down.....

No doubt that Tesla vehicles have great launches, but those Jeeps (especially the modified ones, with professionals behind the wheel) are not something to laugh at. Also, the claim of it all being staged that I keep seeing you comment about, TH stands to gain NOTHING by staging it, especially when other pages have done similar reviews.

Track hawk needs to be in manual for the first gear change, then throw it back into automatic right away. That would have given the roll race a closer result. Plus you have to be in like 2nd gear, keep the rpms all the way up.

That wouldn't be real world, either. It's just an attempt to stack favor for the Jeep, because it didn't win the race it was actually running. If I'm taking my car to the strip, it's going to have as little fuel as possible (ICE) or as much charge as possible (EV), and both are getting cool-down periods between runs to ensure max performance. Any other race is heads-up and either an outcome or excuses. Keep in mind, heat soak = power loss for ICE vehicles, too, and with some vehicles you can only use Launch Control so many times, consecutively. The Jeep is still cool, just can't win 'em all.

Owning a Y Performance and having taken it to the drag strip, there is something wrong with how it launches. It's way too soft which is evident in the 60' times as opposed to the trap time and speed. I know that it was rated at 3.7 0-60 when the 3 was at 3.5. Tesla updated the 3 in the middle of last year which dropped the 0-60 time by .3 seconds which is a good amount. I'm feel that the Y is leaving something on the table. Not taking anything away from the Trackhawk but more of a critique of the Y.

It could likely be that Tesla made the launch softer and when they get more data in, they improve that. You need to remember that instant torque also means a massive hit on the gearing every time people launch it. Especially since it's gear is a higher speed lower torque gear unlike lower speed higher torque gears that gas cars use. So the impact on it is even harder. So if they get more data on how these gears hold up, they are likely to improve that, the same way they did with the S/X and 3.

Bit of a tight spot, really. When your hp is high enough to just spin all day, you either need a hell of a tire (good luck on the street), or AWD to help out (and just take the weight penalty). I would like to have seen the TrackHawk been in auto shift mode, no paddle shift, to keep in in line with the other vehicles, as in a true rolling race. I know, trying to keep the jeep in its power band, but still, it would have been more real world rolling accurate. And interesting to see how it would have compared.

Exactly people who don’t want any drama in a car are the same people who want a Prius teslas are so plain and boring that without music you could drive yourself crazy and there’s no joy of just going a speed it’s about the throwing back feeling the shifts and the raw sound

I'm both :)) In America i would definitely want a Hellcat/Demon, awesome cars. But I also love Tesla and because I'm from Austria and a Hellcat which starts in America at 60.000$ costs in Austria 110.000$ and yearly taxes (without Insurance!) are above 7000$ and also our gas costs above 6$ / Gallone if you use normal gas and not the good stuff, on the other hand is our electricity very green because we have no coal-poweplants and 60% is Wind- Water- and Solarpowered and on electric-Vehicles are much less taxes, a Tesla Model 3 Performance which starts in America at about 55.000$, so nearly like a Hellcat, costs in Austria about 70.000$, so 40 K cheaper than a Hellcat. And there are no yearly taxes on electric-Vehicles. So obviously i have to take a Tesla here
