@Emunds 9:10 Your weather excuse is laughable. 9:05 Those spec's tell it all. 0 to 60 is not a distance, it's a measurement of speed, therefore one or the other could be winning to a distance where both are near 60mph, one just took a longer distance to get going due to torque but hp came in and caused it to pass the other on its way to 60mph, but both hit 60mph at the same time. Once one got past the other the time to distance of a 1/4 mile was made up for because of that increased speed. This car I'm describing, is clearly the Tesla. What gives it all away, is the trap speed. A higher trap, means its a faster car in a roll race. Clearly the Tesla is the faster car in a roll race, and in a side by side.... but not a time to mph, or time to distance. I hope that makes sense. All scientific, I know. There is four metrics on how fast a car is, 0 to 60, 1/4mile time, roll race, and side by side from a stop. I bet you didn't know that. End Result: The Tesla is faster, has 100hp more than estimated, and Tesla is a liar. Read more of my evaluation further below.

I was hoping to see this comparison. Just last month I sold my 2018 Trackhawk and bought a Model Y performance. The Y is slower off the line, even without launch control. Once you get rolling though, it's lights out. I miss the visceral experience of a great American V8. I don't miss worrying about the set up when you're ready to stop-light race. Just mash the pedal and GO! I'm really hoping the Y gets a track-mode offered like the Model 3 did.

Hey Edmund’s your presenters seem like very nice people but if you want people to consider you as an authority in the automotive world you need to have presenters that come across like car people. They seem like the average joe who read the brochure. Your presenters come across as amateurs and it’s hard to take them seriously, especially when compared against the likes of Top Gear and Motortrend.

I also disagree. I have been following Edmunds for nearly 30years! They are the authority in my book. Right next to Consumer Reports Cars, NADA, Kelly Blue Blook, etc. They don't just talk cars, they talk which cars are best to actually buy, and which are not. So, if you're looking for the best drivers and actors, look elsewhere. If you are looking for the best people that ACT like they know what they are talking about, you might want to stick to fake shows like Top Gear. If you are looking for the best drivers, then Car&Driver. Motortrend might be the best balance for someone like you. For me, Edmunds is the authority, but not the most fun, just facts for when buying a car. My favorite is that they have all the specs for all the cars, at your fingertips, on their website. No one else does. NO ONE. Their online reviews and comparisons are very good, also.

I've seen her drive with my own two eyes.

My Tesla Model 3 with Acceleration Boost is just as quick as the Model Y Performance. Kinda neat to know it can fare well against a car that costs roughly 40k more.

That's ok Ive got solar on the roof with a couple of power walls. The bad news is every single gas station in the world uses electric gas pumps to get fuel out of the underground tanks.

Yeah my friend has a trackhawk and around town he only gets around 200 mi or so of range and on the freeway it's slightly over 300 before the light comes on so technically speaking the Tesla has more range. That's the big downside to big power gas motors they end up getting 11 MPG.
@nobody6174 жыл бұрын
@@brdavis not sure how easy it is to fill up a tesla.
@brdavis4 жыл бұрын
@@nobody617 pretty easily actually. For 200 miles of range (which is what the trackhawk gets) it takes about 30 minutes on a Tesla charger. But like filling up a car if you just want to do say, a hundred miles, you can pull that off in like 10 to 15 minutes. In the trackhawk that would be the equivalent of 20 bucks in gas which would be about 10 minutes at a gas station anyway. My wife has a plug in hybrid and she basically just plugs it in when she comes home and unplugs it in when she leaves for work and almost never puts gas in it. In fact the car has forced her to use up the old gas a few times just so it wouldn't get stale.

2nd race, Tesla jumped the start. But the outcome was only changed by a car length, which predictably still shows the Tesla was faster. Gas cars often walk electric cars at the top end. (Which is pretty useless on the street) Generally speaking, electric's day has come, and gas power has run it's course. Electric sports cars are easier to drive fast, have a longer, flatter torque curve that starts 100% at 0 rpm, and there's no shifting of gears to slow you down. But until batteries get a whole lot better, you won't see all-electric endurance racing, like the Indy 500, 24 Hours of Lemans, Baja 1000, etc. Gasoline (or gas hybrids) still rule endurance racing for now. Lastly, lets see the Jeep race the Tesla across the desert floor there...that'd be funny! *Two Model 3 mr's *700hp 690tq Viper GTS, all natural *fleet of trucks

The temperature and the charge level would also affect the Tesla’s performance. Maybe altitude and temperature affects the track hawk more? How much range did the Tesla lose after each run be trackhawk? Though the Tesla is the performance bargain.
@summertyme57484 жыл бұрын
Electric cars don't lose range under performance anymore than Gas cars. Gas cars also lose range with temperature and altitude. Electric cars will eventually lose performance with temperature if you beat on them long enough - but that won't save you at the drag strip. Altitude is irrelevant to electric cars.

Obviously. There will always be the electric car drivers telling themselves they love silent driving more tho lol, which is normal, no one wants to talk down his new car. But then no one would buy, watch and enjoy loud sportscars anymore, if exhaust notes are not important. So something must be wrong here.

@copperkeyracing61674 жыл бұрын
Ok. The numbers are obviously not correct. Power to weight ratios, say its a clear and easy win for the Jeep, Torque to weight ratios, also say its a clear and easy win for the Jeep. AWD on both, should keep it fair for launching and traction abilities. All signs say Jeep wins this, easy. Nope.
@copperkeyracing61674 жыл бұрын
Both ran side by side pretty much at the start, but maybe a torque advantage to the Jeep, but then clearly and easily, the Tesla overtook the Jeep. Therefore, my estimate, is that the Tesla has 600hp, not 500 (needs 580hp to stay even after the launch). As for the Torque, 500lbft is a good estimate on that, maybe 520lbft at most (needs 530lbft to launch evenly). Conclusion: Tesla lied, this Tesla has 600hp, torque is reasonably within estimate.
@copperkeyracing61674 жыл бұрын

Copper Key Racing : Tesla doesn’t have to be lying about the HP. Could just as easily be Jeep folks lying, or neither actually. It’s funny you leap to a conclusion not supported by data.
@copperkeyracing61674 жыл бұрын
@@summertyme5748 Sorry, the Jeep is not Lying, its been put on the Dyno. Do you know how these numbers are created? It's not out of thin air. It's not a guess. Those are real scientific numbers that are measureable on a machine. It's not rocket science. The Hellcat Engine setup puts down 620whp, look it up. That's 620 hp measures at the tires/wheels when the vehicle is strapped down to a machine, aka 620 wheel horse power. Then, calculations are done (by Society of Automotive Engineers) in reverse as to how much power the engine could be making at the most. A manufacturer is not allowed to overstate the numbers, but can understate the power as they wish. Since Tesla no longer offers the horsepower and torque figures for their vehicles, it's difficult to know exactly what the vehicles are supposed to put out. The automaker stopped posting power output figures after getting in some trouble in 2015 for overstating the amount of horsepower and torque their vehicles had. This time, looks like they understated the power by a huge amount. The data is in the video. Acceleration is about instantaneous power to weight ratio. When you put the two of them against one another, the one pulling ahead is the one that has a better power to weight ratio at that instant. Doing the calculations, reveal what I mentioned. In other words, the four tests (0 to 60, 1/4mile, roll race, side by side from a stop) are a way to backup, verify, or create those numbers, just the same. This is science. It's not leaping to conclusion. It's calculations by a real scientist.
