Wow. Been checking out Billy Higgins as Leader. Always liked his activeness as a Drummer. This 70s Higgins is just what was missing. Beautiful

I remember when I first fell in love with this album. I only bought it because I loved the cover. I was just beginning to wake up and fall in love with black people at the same time I heard it. Thank you Elijah Muhammad.....

LOVED this track since first hearing it in the early 80s when it was first released. I used it for years as an intro for Morning Radio Show I did in Portland, Oregon during the 90s. It's still a beautiful piece of music.

@@LLNYRN Wbai New York used it as a intro for their talk show in the 90s when I heard it, there was disagreement with management with using copyright material on the air.

I remember hearing this song as a college student back in 1985 when the CD was first released. More than 30 years later, it's still a wonderful piece, as are all the compositions. "Smiling" Billy Higgins was a great master of rhythm and time.

I was also a college student (City College of New York) and radio DJ when this CD came out. I used it for a Public Affairs show I did in Portland, Oregon every Monday for a few years. I still kind of tear up when I hear it. Its such a beautiful piece of music.

I first heard this tune in March of 1995. It was a rainy Sunday night I was listening to a jazz show hosted by Kim Santos on WBAI in New York City. While I had heard Higgins before on other artist's recordings, this was the first time I heard a tune from one of his own actually albums. I fully became aware of BH at that night and been a fan ever since. I remember Santos expressing her love for this tune and the recording it comes from: 'Mr. Billy Higgins.' WBAI has changed its direction in the past decade due to corporate pressures. So I don't listen to the station anymore. But I always wonder what ever happen to radio host Kim Santos?

Glad to hear this brother, I first heard this the same yr on Bernard's mourning show on WBAI across the river in NJ. Too bad the station is a ghost of its former self! I heard Kim Santos went on to another station in Connecticut.

Is it possible to put the whole album up as a complete album as it is no longer available (unless you fork out thousands for a Japanese copy). Then we could download it to listen to it properly. !t's amazing jazz.

Believe it or not I had a Russian source for this and a few other albums that are out of stock, he had a bunch of them. He has the whole album on CD format, I'll ask him.

I prefer your title, but the song's given name is Morning Awakening.
