Not sure how you are able to be so successful, but your Good Time Charlie-less series continues in grand style. @nathanrish70996 ай бұрын
Jeff, pray tell where do you get those king size rubber bands to hold the comb at a diagonal? We use the elastic bands women do to wrap around a pony tail hair do. They are just right to go left and right, but obviously slower than your method. Also, when you put on an inner cover or lid, DO NOT just slap it on the box. Instead put it on at an angle so the corner of it sticks over the side of the box a couple or three inches. Then slide it in place. Which gives the bees a chance to get out of the way rather than just crushing 'them. Other than that, I enjoyed your video. James Rish, Florida beekeeper
@JeffHorchoff6 ай бұрын
I use a 7 X 1/8 inch rubber band I buy from Amazon. The cris crossing of the bands is very fast, easy, and effective. To date it is the best way I have used to secure the comb to the frame. I'll be going to my first cutout next week. I looked at a new townhouse development where bees have found homes in either the eves or a decorative arch. The builder was once a beekeeper and is going to borescope the entrance to determine where we have to go in. I'll be working off of a GLG lift, and plan to vac the bees and cutout the comb to put into a cooler. When I frame up the.comb what size rubber bands do I need to use?

Good luck on the removal, I hope it turns out well for you and the bees. The rubber bands I use are 7 X 1/8 inches that I buy them from Amazon. Some of those bees weren’t camera shy, they crawled all over the lens 🤣

For whatever reason, bees will fly right into the camera. I think it has something to do with sound frequencies. God's peace. Mr. Ed

A mistake on my part. Thankfully the hydrant was not needed while I was blocking it. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. No doubt people have asked you this question before, but here goes: how do you close up areas where bees like to make hives so they go somewhere better?! Is there a spray to deter them that doesn't kill but just makes it so they stay away?
@JeffHorchoff6 ай бұрын
It may be quite the challenge to seal an area that bees are using as an entrance because unless you seal the entire area around the entrance, bee can find another way in. For that reason, it is very difficult to do on older houses as there are so many cracks and opening due to the age of the house. No, there is no spray or covering that will mask the smell forever. The first person who come up with one will be a millionaire. Thanks for watching. God's peace Ruth. Mr. Ed
