Concerning Family Dollar, I feel bad for the consumer, and my heart breaks for the employees. If I'm not mistaken, West Memphis has close to a 30% poverty rate. It's not a big town with a lot of opportunities. In places like this, the factories may be the biggest thing going in terms of employment, so these folks may not have lots of options other than to put up with deplorable conditions. I also just reviewed Thread and the Coloured Raine Botanical Collection. I really like Thread's Face It and Blend It sticks. As for Coloured Raine, the lip colors are actually the star of the show in that collection, IMO.

this is late, but I live in the area of West Memphis, and West Memphis is very stagnant in what the people are offered to do. there’s a lot of people who can’t travel for work, can’t do “skilled” labor, and they’re left with what they’re given.

I support small business all day everyday however I can't think the thread's packaging looks so crazy similar to Thrive including the fact the they have the same fir 3 letters and how hard Thrive fought against being advised to ditch the turquoise packaging and refused bc of how important it was to their brand. If I were the CEO of Thrive I would feel some type of way. All in all there is plenty of room for both brands but maybe thread should have chose a different color for their packaging. (especially the shadow sticks)......anyone else agree?

Kind of bummed about BH, I am signed up for Revolution beauty emails, so there's that, but I own some things from both brands and while I have some BH palettes sitting on my bathroom counter in my frequently used items, most of my Revolution stuff is in a drawer somewhere. The Family Dollar does not surprise me at all. I worked at Christmas Tree Shops 5 years ago and we had a mouse problem in the warehouse portion. Occasionally customers would spot the mice running around the store. We had a bird problem too because everyone could hear them living in the ceiling. Birds live inside my local shopping mall also.

HIGHLY recommend listening to the How I Built This episode on The Lip Bar! Melissa is such a sweetheart and a truly amazing story! I was working when she said the "cockroach" quote, and I had to stop and process it. It really shows how they know nooothing about the industry. I discovered GXVE on Fat Mascara's Friday podcast episode, and I am CRAZY EXCITED. I have always loved Gwen!! If y'all have doubts about Gwen's history and relationship with makeup, I highly recommend listening to her interview on Fat Mascara. Also, how was FD getting away with this...? I have worked in warehouses (including cleaning) for the past several years. At any warehouse I'VE ever worked in, not even a single rat would get away with being present. Omfg.

I was a huge No Doubt and Gwen Stefani fan since I was a kid in 1997. Her comments did come off as .. uppity cause her collab with Urban Decay did not sell as good and they thought and were on clearance for years….I collected so much from her LAMB and Harajuku lines. Even the whole Urban Decay X Gwen collab. BUT the eyeshadow palette was VERY limited to light complexions. It was totally her thing, but my cousins and friends that are medium, tan, or deep complexions looked ashy or limited looks (even me). The blush palette was better but the “bronzer” was so light orange 😭. Of course the lipsticks and liners were mostly all red (lipsticks-6 red based, one purple/blue duo, and a neutral) her collection just looks like a summary of that collab (the matte lipstick reminds me of 714 from the collab) I won’t be collecting it BUT if she releases a dupe for the ex-girlfriend lip stick shade …. I’m buying it it’s my favorite “my lips but better” shade ever and it’s discontinued.

About the physician formula case of the products not being sold everywhere. I did notice cover girl is sometimes the same way. When they dropped that milky lightweight foundation part of the collection had blush lip and something else. I could not find all the products sold in the same drugs store. CVS had two rite aid had 3 etc etc. ANNND those Katy perry lip glosses with the cat on the screw top we’re so hard to find. I think it has to do with clash of interest, and licensing restrictions. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I just read an article about a class action suit against L'Oreal and their waterproof mascaras specifically they also have a list of them that have dangerous chemicals in them and was not labeled properly. I think I remember Dr. Dray saying that it's kind of like the paraben thing in that the media is freaking out over something that really has no evidence that it's harmful when used in cosmetics.

My mom told me about the Family Dollar issue a few days ago and asked me if I had bought anything from there and me being the jackass that I am, I told her “yeah I bought all your snacks from there to save a few dollars” she wasn’t happy with me and didn’t think I was funny but I then had to clarify to her that I have not been inside a Family Dollar store in over 15 years at least, most likely it’s been even longer than that. I don’t even know where there are any Family Dollar stores anywhere around where we live and don’t care to know. Re: SharkTank, all the sharks have been known to say cruel and inappropriate comments and i wish the producers would handle this type of behavior. I'm happy for Lip Bar and their success. Agree, the interview was really good. What’s unfortunate about printed interviews you can’t hear full context and tone of what is being said. But knowing Gwen all this years she is never pretentious. She worked on this line for 4 years, if it was a cash grab she would speed up the process a lot sooner. She just quietly gifted bunch of fans the pretty gift package today.

As someone who worked at a family dollar. The family dollar story really doesnt surprise me. Every store I have been in has been gross and the conditions we leave stuff in in terrible. Frozen food got left out for like 5 hours once and the manager just had us put it away like it was normal and I was like yup please never shop here we are the worst and Im out.

I don't think Gwen has a natural look at all. She wears a super heavy foundation with a neutral-heavy eye look and a red lip. I purchased the UD Gwen Stefani palette, and I must be the only person that loved it and used the palette for years. It was one of my must loved palettes!

I LOVED gwen stefani x urban decay back in the day BUT…1. If this is your “give back” then why are you selling lipsticks for $26? are you only giving back to people who already have? Stop it. 2. Also, with someone who has such exquisite personal style, the packaging design looks boring and ugly. IMO. 🤭

Yes! I would consider buying the new iteration of her classic red lip because UD x Gwen Stefani's 714 was my favorite lipstick of all time, but that's gotta be an easily duped shade. I also declutered the OG palette because I was mad that I bought it for 2 exotic shades and 20 neutrals. I'm not feeling it at all.

Yeah but they were wearing light blue lipstick ten years ago. Kevin was right. Did he say it brutally, yes, but that's how the show gets ratings, esp ten years ago. American Idol used to be mean AF and has gotten softer too. And now they launch products and not a light blue lipstick in sight, so....

Estée Lauder company is likely going to try to wait it out just like they did with Jared/ Too Faced. I do my best to not buy EL brands and it saddens me when I find out about another getting bought by them. It hurt when they bought UD. Mad love for the Lip Bar. “Mr. Wonderful” isn’t wonderful. People go into the shark tank knowing full well they will be attacked, it’s a shark tank. Many people go on not even necessarily expecting a deal. The exposure from being on the show often helps launch businesses. Kevin speaks to people like that all the time. It’s the “role” he plays. It’s a television show. There is typically a “nice” one a “mean” one and so on.

Exactly. If you watch the show, you'll understand that saying it like that is taking it out of context. First its a show for entertainment and he plays a tough role on the show. Hence his name "Mr. Wonderful." He's like judge Judy and Simon Powell. He's known to say that line to business that he doesn't think would work.

Oh my God! Years ago I had a single mouse die underneath my stove in the kitchen and I tore my kitchen apart trying to figure out where the putrid smell was coming from. And that was one tiny little mouse. I can't imagine the stench in that place.
