I love the west coast! The Indigenous tribes there are so amazingly powerful. They defeated the pipeline recently and thats actually why the forest fires are there! Pipeline leaks. Its all unceded territory which means that the Indigenous tribes didnt sign any agreements with the colonizers there. So appreciate the beauty because the tribes have protected it there since forever!!💖💖💖💖💖

Victoria Inglis While I don't support pipeline expansion, pipeline leaks are NOT the cause of the almost 600 fires burning across the province. Please stop spreading misinformation. About 40% are preventable and human caused (could be from cigarettes, campfires, etc), while the rest occur naturally (read: lightning combined with longer, drier summers). Blaming pipelines for over 1 million hectares of land burned over the last two summers takes the responsibility away from actual preventable causes.

That's incorrect, pipeline leaks are the cause of many issues but the wildfires are NOT one of them. The primary cause of the BC wildfires are lightning strikes (60% according to the government) and the rest are caused by people being assholes (cigarettes, campfires, etc.). This is similar to other places that have problems with wildfires like California.

Because science and documentable evidence? It's not the government - it's scientists and firefighters? Show me one chief who says the leaks are the CAUSE of fires. How does that even make sense? Pipelines are coastal. The fires are not. I am privileged enough to live on unceded land on Vancouver Island, where there are fires, where the smoke was so bad we couldn't go out for days. Pipelines, oil, leaks, etc. certainly could lead to an increase in climate change related fires in the future, but they aren't the direct cause. The federal government, by the way, has said it plans to go ahead with the pipeline, even though it wasn't legal to start it in the first place. In Canada, we're happy to use First Nations culture and art to bring in tourists and make money, but we don't actually care about them at all. It's disgusting and shameful.
