While standing in line for an hour and a half to vote in my small town, a cop showed up. He started asking everyone questions like he was conducting an investigation. Trying to intimidate and get people to talk about what was going on. It was clear that we were all standing in line to vote. He acted like he didn't know what was going on, but if you really listened to his line of questions, you clearly knew he knew we were all there to vote. Finally someone said why don't you go speak to the people who were running the voting booths. He said, oh I can't do that I have a body cam. Good ol' Indiana.

it's quite rough in certain areas of the state, like austin or bedford, where it feels more like gulf port MS than something like bloomington or columbus. i fool myself sometimes, as my community is outwardly apolitical most-often and left-leaning at best (particularly among the young people i'm most familiar with). when i leave my area of the state, i'm harshly reminded that its a ruby red rectangle in a sea of blue or moderate-red states. i'm holding out hope because of the appealing significance of more tolerable communities around myself, but i may join the brain drain out west if our abortion ban, horrible infrastructure, and brainwashed MAGA populace withstands the next few election cycles.

@@majorgeneralmalaise I’ve gotten to see her in both zones, and her change was truly about a genuine change of heart based on what she was seeing. I had the same experience years ago. When you are raised in a party, it’s hard to see that your heart doesn’t match that platform. It takes time. Being a teacher gives you so much when it comes to seeing what real Hoosiers face. I’m proud of her for seeing what was happening, making the switch, and facing the questions about that with transparency and integrity.

Rs are against education (unless it's religion) They don't want their voters to be educated OR diverse so giving voters 'school choice' (which sounds good on the surface) but what it's actually doing is taking our tax dollars and giving it to people who normally pay for their child to go to private schools.....meaning less money for public schools...I'm a retired teacher and when vouchers 1st came up in the legislature I was against them and had many conversations w/ my districts representative against them....and actually when they 1st started they opened up a bunch of charters...most of which have now closed....all they did was make money for their administrators and investors....the money didn't go to the charter school or teachers!!
