Yesterday, I voted in the very Maga State where I reside. I happened to pass the County Clerk just upon submitting my ballot into the electronic tabulator. On passing me, he remarked " well, you got that out of the way." I responded by telling him "I didn't vote the way you did." He seemed a bit flummoxed and quickly mumbled "that's okay" to which I said "that's American."

I live in NC and it was kindof infuriating to see whole swathes of my area’s ballot with only R options. Even in the “unaffiliated” roles, I looked up their voter history and they were all Rs. I wish more people would take a chance like Kate! She may not have great odds, but I still wish her best of luck! 🗳️💙🇺🇸 Edit: oh wow I just looked up her district and I used to live in that district. I wouldn’t be surprised if she actually has a chance. There’s a lot of rural white voters, but there’s a shit ton of new builds and young families in that area too.

I am grieving for my home state.... I grew up with amazing people sitting around the Sunday supper table after church, people who were friends with my grandfather teaching me history, responsibility, and accountability. They were just my grandfather's friends.... and it wasn't until I moved away that I learned how important some of my grandfather's friends were during the Civil Rights era. Watching NC slide back into the Dixiecrats era is really scary.....

That may have to do with the “top two” primary system in California, where the top 2 vote getters in the primary are the ones on the actual general election ballot. Even if they are in the same party. We need to get rid of that law and review the requirements to get on the actual ballot.

Brilliant and innovative political strategy. Dems need to compete in every district if government is going to be accountable. A single party option only leads to corruption.
