I love her look as she has just finished. She gazes around at the ovation, and I can see her thinking, "I did it, that's for me!" And then she suddenly dips her head and almost starts to cry, as if to thank the muses for the gift they have given her.

Aside from her Beautiful voice, what she brought to this performance emotionally was Stunning!! I watch a lot of talent shows, and for me the highlights are always found in exceptional auditions. This was one of them. And no one can ever take that standing ovation and golden buzzer moment away from her. There's a lot of controversy over Loren being a professional and appearing on a show like this, just as there was with Wendy Moten on the last season of The Voice. Since the winner is determined by fan voting, I think that controversy will kept Loren from winning. But the most talented performers certainly don't always win. She has all the components of a Star---Terrific voice, Stunning beauty, and Likable personality. Someone should sign and promote her. Great reaction, Jen. 😊😊

Don't see why it would be controversial. The same could have been said of Glennis Grace who is Known to be a Whitney Tribute Singer and a Professional Recording Artist in the Netherlands. And if you've not seen her performances...find them, she is awesome. Marcelito Pomoy who won PGT. in the Philippines and is a professional recording artist and very well known on KZbin. You are very correct in this performance was stunning. The difference to me is that the performances before was for the movie. THIS, This Performance is for HER. We can FEEL and Hear it being portrayed. I Felt her saying "This is for ME" just like the end of the song. That said it all.
@wajj18422 жыл бұрын
@@Omonohoshi You and I are in agreement about Loren's performance---STUNNING!! And the emotion she brought, along with the special circumstance, was electric. But when I say controversial I'm referring to how some people feel about her competing on this show. There would have been less controversy had she chosen AGT instead of BGT. Americans are more anything goes and may the best talent win. Brits are more about being "fair". And again, I think that will hurt Loren in the voting. Just my opinion. Also, your only as good as your last performance (and song choice). She won't win the show from an audition. But she sound win a record deal from this Incredible performance, if that's what she wants.

@@JenniferGlatzhofer - FYI, Loren is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. So she not only knows what she's doing (nerves notwithstanding), but she knows HOW to do it without harming her voice. I agree with you - the transformation from a bundle of nerves to "I GOT THIS" was truly stunning!

Thanks for this excellent technical analysis. You did a fine job in picking apart the flaws in the performance and explaining how pressure can affect a performance. But the audience and the judges were transported. Why? You point out many things that Loren does well, but here are two things that make her singular: (1) Loren uses her chest voice exclusively in belting out and then building to progressively higher and more powerful notes. The audience is overwhelmed by a tidal wave of sound. I don't think she has a peer in doing this. (2) She ends many of her musical lines with a powerful cry in her voice. This too is unique and gives her performances an emotional quality that few can match. In all, I think we are lucky to witness an artist of Loren Allred's remarkable talents.

It is not better. Her high notes here are much better, clearer…her voice has matured since the Foster performance and she was in total command of her element here.

I struggled with this performance because before this she performed on David Foster and it was an absolute masterclass in technique and control. However, she had in-ears, a full band, and probably lots of on-stage rehearsal time for that one. It's just a shame this audience didn't get to see that performance! Either way, she's simply incredible.

EXCELLENT reaction/analysis. I am so glad you keep repeating the pressure she's feeling. I read comments indicating this performance wasn't as good as her voice in the movie. Of course not, as you brilliantly said, she's feeling a lot of pressure now. Loren Allred's voice is GREAT.

When I saw this video for myself the first time, I started to suggest it to you for a reaction. It’s so much more than the vocal, which is incredible. Just so much emotion. It would have been amazing to be there in person. As you said, it wasn’t a secret that the actress did not do the vocals for this in the movie. But I’m sure many did not know and many who did likely have not been exposed to Loren. Good for her! Great reaction. ❤️

Great reaction as usual. I love that you explain (and demonstrate) the chest voice vs head voice and other finer points of singing. I found it hard to pinpoint any pitchiness or even shakiness, but that might be because I was so connected, as you say, and drawn in by the emotion. Beautiful lady and voice. I’m glad she “came out,” so to speak. She deserves the recognition.

Great and Well Earned Golden Buzzer 🌟 First thing is that I had never seen or heard of Loren Allred until the Notification from my Subscription to BGT and their affiliated Events. Once I watched her Audition I then researched her out carefully. I've been in the Production industry so I know Not to comment without proper research. I hope that this will explain everything that I've written. Therefore I'm reposting my edited comments that I have put together from other postings to give everyone my understanding on how I see Loren Allred Regards to Loren Allred and the Negative Comments replies or Posting and don't understand what the difference between a Professional Performer and Amateurs who don't normally get paid. Anyone who gets paid for performing is considered a professional no matter how much money or popularity they may have. It's to what level Artist reaches in their careers. In regards to her Actual Audition remember there's a Lot of difference between Performing and being Judged. The Best of the Best can still have Butterflies 🦋 and Shaking Nerves. All in All this is still a Fabulous Audition. Remember that this was a Audition not a Paid Performance. So let's try to see ourselves in her position putting herself out there taking and risking it all. It's been 5 Years since The Greatest Showman was released. She didn't take advantage of her position. Look at Loren Allred KZbin Videos. Although she's done some Great Performances and Live concert events overall in the past. It wasn't until this Audition at Britain's Got Talent that she's Finally getting the Amazing Response and Recognition. Let's be kind and support Loren Allred and others like her Still Chasing their Dreams. For those of you that think that Loren Allred Acted in the Greatest Showman Movie, She Never Acted in the Movie. She Sang The Song that was recorded for the Movie. The Actress Rebecca Ferguson Who played Jenny Lin The Character she's the one that suggested that Loren Allred sing the song and Jessica Ferguson would be Lip Syncing over the recording. Loren Allred name is only as part of the rest of the Vocal Ensemble You wouldn't know based on the Name Credits who sang what song. She's done a duet with Michael Buble. Watch on KZbin that Music Collaboration. The title of the song is "Help Me Make IT Through The Night" You'll see how Michael Buble after watching the Greatest Showman Movie went searching for the voice of Never Enough, when he figured out that the Actress wasn't actually singing the song. Yes she also performed with Producer David Foster in a Concert. That still didn't get the Recognition she's been working on for so long. Up until her BGT Audition Loren Allred wasn't a House hold by name by any means that you knew. Only in certain musical circles maybe Yes people knew of her. Now that she's Audition on BGT people are finally getting around to see what she's trying to make of herself So she's Very Deserving of The Long Overdue Recognition for her Vocals of that Powerful Song in the Movie. What a Fabulous and Humble Reaction that she seemed to be in awed by the Audience Reaction at the end of her finished audition.

I am not in the production industry John Bruce Lee but I agree with many things you said in your comments. I come from a long line of musicians and singers, some professional and others not, but I do have a good ear for music and Loren had me within seconds with her voice, delivery, sound, beauty, sincerity, emotion, humbleness, and so happy for her to get the golden buzzer! I know I have read and heard of many actors through the decades that have lip synced songs to movies and rarely did one find out who really did do the singing or even know there was another hidden voice doing the work behind the scenes. I wonder how many never got credit or recognition?! Loren has talent and perseverance. I liked the change in her hair style from her performance on PBS with David Foster. She is a beautiful gal and BGT has a huge fan base. I wish her all the best and look forward to seeing more of her in the near future. The exposure on these talent shows no matter if you win or not is worth a lot! The entertainment industry is not easy to get in to. I hope she stays true to herself and doesn’t allow herself to be changed as has been the case with so many singers, musicians, actors etc. It’s a tough business for sure. So much goes on behind the scene and it’s not all glamorous, as you probably know. Just some thoughts…

I've seen her collab with filipino song writer and musician and a duet with prominent filipina artist morisette singing this very same song. Talk about a friendly humble big name artist she could be top of the list.

All these comments about her previous "perfect performance" of this song... technicality isn't everything. This is music. Loren sounded otherworldly emotional in this rendition and it makes it far more beautiful. This rendition was on a different level of hitting you in the feels. Want another example of what you all would consider waivering? The Kelly Clarkson performance of Piece by piece on Idol. Give me that type of performance over "perfect" any day.

I agree, I've never seen the movie and only know Never Enough as a Loren Allred song. I'm also not technically knowledgable enough to know when a performance isn't quite pitch perfect. So I love the studio recording but when I watch this and she's there putting herself in the spotlight, that extra emotion in the first half of the song sells it in a whole new way. I've always felt like a lot of that was deliberate - performing the song, not just singing it - but I'm no expert and I'm not claiming to be.

What about speaking about how she’s belting those notes and how the Abs under the rib cage is the support, solely. The resistance is not from her vocal chords or chest. Only the resonance is coming from her head and chest only. I’ve been waiting for you to mention how the voice needs to be “grounded”; she also uses Twang in her belting at the end of song which is giving her more brightness and more power. I’ve just been waiting for you to mention this because I’m trying to practice and learn this for myself. How to belt properly is what I was waiting for you to speak of, not just the vowels….although you seem like a sweet lady.
@Rosannasfriend2 жыл бұрын
You’ll be hard-pressed to find a vocal coach reactor talking about twang in detail. Most of them just like to throw the word around and move on. As someone who watched hundreds of these types of reactions over four years, I’m just letting you know right now don’t get your hopes of waiting for that. If you do get an explanation, it’s rather incomplete and just sounds like they’re talking about ordinary nasality. I had to eventually start finding things online, particularly excerpts from the CVT book by Catherine Sadolin that finally went into some detail about twang and how to access it.

Don't you think the wavering early in the song was deliberate, evoking vulnerability and a sense of danger to the song, to elevate the triumph of the later parts? You can hear loads of other live performances ahe does where that early part exhibits total mastery, like the opera singer in the movie. But on this occasion it was useful to seem imperfect to begin with. I'd be confident it was a choice rather than nerves.
