Thanks so much, Jennifer. Always love your videos. I finally just tried this a few minutes ago using my 3-year-old Scotch TL901 laminator (about $25), my 10-year-old OKI C3400 laser printer, plain HP Multipurpose printer paper, and the teal Deco foil I bought at Michael's on clearance a couple months ago, and it worked beautifully after just one pass! WOW! Thanks again!

Love this technique. After Christmas, Michaels had deco foil on sale for about 50 cents a tube. I bought some but when I realized that u can use it on fabric too I went back and bought all of them! Only down side was that they only had red and green. Today I had to make t shirts for my daughters class used the green to do shamrocks and it turned out awesome.

Jennifer, Just a big thanks! I've been racking my brain to figure out how to make a prototype for a project that will have a foil embossed linen cover on it. I started googling and bingo, found your videos. You just saved me SO MUCH time and money! I had no idea you could do these things. Right now you're my favorite person in the world!

thank you! I have a large easy press and a A3 heat press, would you recommend, either moving the easy press over the toner simulating the laminator movement or just to use the heat press as pressure would be consistent?

Thanks Jennifer for all your great ideas and tips. You inspired me this Christmas to ask for a laser printer. I used Photoshop Elements to create a black and white copy from a photo of my granddaughters face. I then printed it with my laser printer and gold foiled it with my laminator. I made her birthday card with that picture. Now I will have to do all the grandkids cards like that. Thanks for helping me to get to that point.

Jennifer I loved this episode on foiling. I just love it. And I've upgraded my pic file and I have a toner laser printer..HP a small one. I do have a very cheap foiling machine and it takes forever to heat up about 13 minutes but once it's heated it's hot. When you use foiling less is more. It is so elegant and brilliant that you don't need a lot to make it stand out. Love these videos and loved Lila's cards...thanks Jennifer.

Hello Jennifer. I stumbled on to your video while researching for a project of my own involving foil. I make cards (what's called "Proxies" for play use for a very popular card game called Yu-Gi-Oh! And I have to say that trying to figure out how they make there cards have been quite difficult, as there is no way, even online, on how they make their cards. Your video was very helpful. If possible, I would like to pick your brain in the future on more projects such as this. Thank You.

Oh my goodness. I literally just bought a laminator (it's still in the box in the office). It's an Amazon basics laminator (does both 3 and 5 mil like yours) and I have a Brother printer. I wanted the Heidi Swapp Minc but as it really only does the one thing wouldn't buy it. I'm soooo excited to try this technique out and see if it works with my machines. I'm just bummed it'll have to wait, I'll be the only person at WDW who can't wait to go back home!

I had mixed results with this technique. The best results were when using a small personal laserjet printer (similar to Jennifer's) and the "self-serve" printer at Office Max. I got very splotchy results (not complete foil transfer) when printing at the highest quality printers behind the counter at Office Max--and this was the case after printing at two different Office Max stores. All of this was done on the same laminator, with the same settings. So, bottom line...either print at home or go to the self-serve printers. Also, if any of you have had problems with paper jams on the laminator from Amazon that Jennifer uses: I had an item get jammed inside the laminator. I tried "pushing" it out by putting more paper through. That just jammed it up even more. I ended up taking the laminator apart (there are ~6 screws on the bottom) and was able to remove all of the jammed paper this way. I put it back together and it seems to be working fine since then.

This is such a fun idea! As luck would have it I actually own a laser printer. Thanks for posting this tutorial. Can this technique be used with water color, the same way you might add water color to color a heat embossed stamped image or will the foil come off easily? Can it be colored with markers without staining the foil if you accidentally stray from the lines? I am assuming copics are out. If so, what markers do you recommend?

Hi Jennifer!! I love this video and am using this technique to add some foiling to my wedding invitations. I bought the same laminator you use, and I got Minc foil, but my foil product is blotchy with some ink showing through. The ink was printed using a laser printer at kinkos. Any tips? Also, what else can i use to sandwich my invitation in while it's going through the laminator? I used a plain sheet of paper, but the unfoiled ink is pressed onto the plain paper, and then transfers to my next invitation. Thank you!! Thanh
