Jenny, as a 73 year old who never made cinnamon buns, I made these yesterday. TOTAL SUCCESS! Such an easy recipe. Don't get me wrong, I'm a good home cook (they run in our family!) but I've always been intimidated by these rolls -- no more! I love that it's lower fat - so I can eat twice as many! 🐷 This was a good way to kill some time during a pandemic quarantine! Thank you! I also love your lemon brownies recipe!

Funny story, I am 79 years old and self-quarantined, going stir crazy, so I decided to get some recipes and bake. Well, I searched Jenny Can Cook for cinnamon buns. I love all her recipes. I watched two of her videos, one was for the braided cinnamon raison bread and the other for homemade cinnamon rolls. As I had no raisons I chose to make the cinnamon rolls. I printed the recipe and started. I rolled the dough to 9x12 and forgot to spread the softened butter. (mistake #1). I neglected to look at the recipe (#2 mistake) and I cut the dough into 3 equal pieces, (going by memory of the video. should have never taken that chance at my age.) Then I started putting the cinnamon mixture down the center and rolling it up. My memory told me to make 8 pieces. So, I started to cut the 3 logs into 8 even pieces. I ended up with 24 tiny pieces. I said to myself, “self something is very wrong”. I went back to the recipe instructions only to realize I got mixed up. I started with the cinnamon buns and finished with the Braided Cinnamon Raison Bread. Angrily, I started mushing everything up and rolled it into one log. Cinnamon all over the place. Then cut it in 8 pieces following the end of the cinnamon bun recipe. They didn’t rise to fill the pan after 2 hours, but after they were baked they rose some. I frosted them, and they happened to be very good. Sorry Jenny I messed up a delicious desert.

Butter pan. (Grease) In a different bowl 1/4 cup of brown sugar 2 teaspoons of cinnamon Stir to mix. Flatten into long rectangle dough ball 2 tablespoons of butter on top. Distribute cinnamon topping Roll up and cut with floss. Arrange in greased pan Let dough rise for about 45 minutes - 1 hour. 1 cup of powdered sugar 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla 2 tablespoons of milk (max)

Jenny, thanks again. I learned to make cinnamon buns from my Mum, who'd learned the art from her Scots granny. Christmas time was Cinnamon bun time, and we had a little wrinkle that you might enjoy. Somewhere - probably the Army & Navy store - Mum found half a dozen pans that had the triangle outline of a Christmas tree. We made up the buns with a recipe similar to yours, but before putting the rolled-up sections into the pan, we'd drizzle some melted butter into the pan, followed by brown sugar and cinnamon. Then, we would lay down some halves of red and green candied cherries, rounded side down. Then the rolls went into the pan, had the 2nd rise, and went into the oven for 15 minutes. The timing on the next bit is a little fiddly: after perhaps 6-8 minutes (just long enough for the butter/sugar to set), my mum would lay a cooling rack over top of the pan, then invert the whole works in one swift flip. That brought the "coated" side of the "tree" to face up, with the red and green half-cherries looking like Christmas tree ornaments or lights. The pan would lift right off. Of course, as youngsters this was magic! We gave many, many pans of these to neighbors as "kitchen presents" but always had some for our own house. On Christmas morning, my mum would pop a "tree" pan into the oven with enough time so that we all had a hot, tasty cinnamon bun before opening gifts. I never saw a frosted ("iced" as we say in western Canada) cinnamon bun until I had a contract working in the U.S.A. Definitely another delicious finishing option. I like the no-cream-cheese idea. We kept those thin aluminum baking pans until they were almost literally falling apart - over 20 years. I've never seen them for sale since the early 1960's, although i'm sure someone must make a similar sort of pan. Thanks again for a delicious and entertaining video.

+Kenny R - You can make my cinnamon rolls without an electric mixer. Using a mixer only reduces the kneading time, so you can combine the ingredients by hand and then just knead it a little longer, maybe 200 turns or more, until the dough becomes smooth and elastic and springs back when you poke it. Good luck!
