I mean birthdates especially the year being born isn't that important or memorable. I feel like when you spend time with someone you care about you start picking up on their tells, habits etc But a birthday is just one day in a year, and i mean if you're a vampire the exact year you were born in isn't that important tbh (the whole concept of birthdays themselves aren't really important) I still can't remember the exact year my parents were born in, doesn't mean i don't care about them tho

No humanity Elena may have some Katherine's qualities, but she is not Katherine. Katherine is driven by paranoia and fear, always was since her death and death of her family. She is insecure at heart, and even though she is very cunning and selfish, she has her weaknesses - emotions. No Humanity Elena is confident, rational and straightforward, she is ruthless and doesn't need to worry about her feelings. Humanity Elena is confident as well, she is not insecure at all unlike Katherine, but she can be selfish and self-centered (I think it's just Petrova bloodline thing lol everyone from Petrova line seems to be pretty selfish at times), and yet she is kind, compasionate and caring. Elena's big minus is that she makes a lot of things about her, which is not the biggest crime. It's interesting that Katherine seems more confident than Elena, when in reality it's Katherine who has a bunch of insecurities, and Elena is actually very confident and doesn't suffer from low selfesteem.

Katherine lives in fear yes but your other assessments are off. Katherine isn't insecure nor does she lack confidence or self esteem. If she did, Elena would have been dead already. Also is also motivated by fear. Fear of her emotions. All her actions are driven by her fear of being made to feel again. The difference between the between the two is that Katherine is a planner. She's strategic. But she's bad at thinking on her feet. She does alright but we see her get flustered when a plan doesn't work out. Elena is the opposite, she doesn't plan... She's not as calculated or strategic strategic. Elena tends to let things play out then take it from there. She's quick on her feet and great at improvising. Both are capable of the other ability but they are better in one and weaker in the other.

Because she only knew one way to live and she knew she was a bad person so how could someone love her for eternity of just liking her ? Katherine shows confidence but it's a mask. You can see how jealous she is of Elena. And even if she isn't insecure about her personnality, she is insecure about everything that it caused. Jealousy always comes from insecurity. Katherine is badass but she's not that confident. She is confident about the thing she do best : surviving. But that's it

i really hated the silas storyline except for one little part of it that i wont spoil. but i think it just made the show kinda boring. maybe if you can binge episodes tho it wont be as bad. but imo season 5 is the slowest season. still great! so if you can enjoy it then you will def. enjoy the rest of the series.
