Caroline killed 17 witches an episode ago, WITH her humanity on. I ain't judging because had it have been me I could've seen myself saving my friend but it's the way people hold Elena's actions to a higher standard than others and then wonder why they find her annoying. They don't let ANYTHING slide with her, of course they're gonna hate her when she does that smallest thing. I could give numerous examples but I think we all can think of a few times it's happened.

the difference is that other characters do bad shit and own up to it. they know they are monsters and they accept that role. elena is just as bad but she acts like she's better than them. she pretends like she's a fucking angel. and she literally won't stop whining. i don't mind "bad" characters, i mind "bad" characters who can't own up to what they are.

Stefan and Caroline end up taking accountability but not like the ones listed, and bonnie and Matt haven’t done anything that bad. Elena doesn’t go around telling anyone she’s a saint, she has made it clear several different times she’ll do anything for the people she loves. No matter what you want to say, humanity elena doesn’t go around killing people for fun which is why she does have the right to hold herself to a higher esteem to others but really and truly the only time she does that is with the villains, who most times are trying to kill her. I don’t think killing kol and his entire sireline was right but Elena didn’t say it was right, she said it was the only way. And I won’t even go into “whiny” part because I feel like I’ve spent a very long time explaining to people that elenas life actually sucks. Yes 100% the other characters get it bad, but elena is always the one the villain wants to hurt or whatever, getting kidnapped, drained, tossed and has lost so many people (again I know the other characters have too so if they were whining a lot I’d be ok with it because that’s a normal reaction to having a terrible life)

I love the relationship between klaus and caroline and how they both see things in each other that others do not (at least at first), for example, caroline believes that klaus can still be saved and that there are good things in him, just as he sees the woman incredible that she is and that in the beginning she was the subject of stupid comments by tyler, damon and matt

Katherine is a complicated character who often gets in her own way due to her Paranoia and drive to survive at all costs. Elijah was a powerful noble man whom she knew still had feelings for her. Yes she manipulated him, hoping that he would deliver the cure to Klaus in exchange for a pardon. But at the same time, she did genuinely appreciate that Elijah was willing to believe in her and made her feel safe. So in this case I do believe her; she wanted it all, freedom and a man. Now she may have lost it all because Elena exposed Katherine's terrible actions.

I love that he finally realized that no humanity elena is nothing like katherine, you can literally tell them apart by body language and facial expressions alone. Like Nina Dobrev is so talented with all the characters she plays katherine, elena, katherine pretending to be elena, elena pretending to be katherine, no humanity elena like you can tell all of them apart. And katherine admitted in 3x09 that she genuinly did love both stefan and damon back in the day and has made it clear that she stills loves stefan. And as for elijah they also have history together so I believe she does love him in some way too, the problem is she doesn't really know what love is or should be after the way she's lived.

I hate to be that person but the double standard 🥴 so we watched a no humanity vampire (Stefan) kill how many people for a bunch of episodes and Katherine hurt people unnecessarily but Elena, with no humanity btw, kills someone and is doing bad things so she should be killed? Elena is one of the most hated characters in the TVD universe, even more than Matt. Go and type in 'most hated characters of tv shows of all time' in Google and she comes up in several articles. Personally, I liked Elena from seasons 1-3 but couldnt stand her in s4 and 5. In the 6th season she was ok but her relationship with Damon got tiring and cringy. A lot of people were glad when Nina decided to leave the show at the end of S6 and Nina herself was glad too since she wouldnt have to play Elena anymore. And Katherine is definitely a great villain along with Klaus and of course Kai.
