What JJ said makes me wonder. What crazy situation brought about the need for pole cats? Do they train regularly? Are they like firefighters, just waiting for the next call? The war boys make more sense in that their purpose is very generalized. Whereas pole cats, are a very specific skill set. So, at what point after the apocalypse did someone say, 'We're gonna need a crew that can pluck other people from moving vehicles.'
@sleepypanda3694
@sleepypanda3694 8 ай бұрын
Probably around the same time people used moving vehicles to get away from them?? It kinda makes sense. If you try and stop a fast moving vehicle there's a good chance either the people in it or your own people die in a crash. If you can just pluck 'em out before the vehicle crashes tho... much better.

Miller is great at telling a story without dialog. Really respects the audience to be paying attention and actors to show what he wants. I don't need you to explain how shit is going all the time. In Fury Road their is the 40 minute-ish arc where Max and Furiosa slowly go from wanting to kill each other to trusting and relying on one another and they never talk about it but you 100% understand how their relationship is changing and its current status the whole time.

I do feel like George Miller is one of those directors who often gets forgotten in the list of master Directors we commonly associate their great movies with. You have Scorsese, Spielberg, Lucas, Coppola, Kubrick, Scott but so rarely does George Miller get mentioned. I sort of put George Miller in the same category as a James Cameron simply because he doesn’t make a movie very often but when he does, it’s like holy sh*t! This is on another level! Miller is pushing 80 years old and is making other action directers look like kids playing with sticks in the neighbors backyard. I do feel like George Miller deserves to be mentioned more as part of these great directors.

You'll rarely hear action/sci-fi directors put on "greatest of all time", sometimes even Animation directors get more prestige. Which is funny because the core of cinema ia the ability to tell a story in moving images, even iver dialogue or any other words. The one advantage of cinema is telling a story in moving pictures, while books and other mediums focus on words. But somehow, cinemaphiles have forgotten that and the many of the public give more credit to directors that give dramatic stories, even if their actual images on camera are bad stories scene after scene.

The movie was decent but with horrible character development for Furiosa herself. Since the moment she appeared on the screen AS A CHILD, she was already skillful, savvy, clever, fearless and levelheaded, thus leaving no room for self-betterment. Halfway through the movie you can already predict the general outcome of every action scene, therefore you are mostly viewing for the acrobatics and cinematography.
@Gadget-Walkmen
@Gadget-Walkmen 17 күн бұрын
I wouldn’t say that’s “hOrRiBlE chArActEr dEvEloPmeNt” AT ALL for Furiosa AT ALL as that’s what’s trained and expected out of people from in her place of abundance as you need to be skilled to survive in that dangerous environment as soon as you can so Furiosa being able to learn that at such a young age makes sense and especially from where she’s from where they have the guard the secret of where they’re from as closely as possible from outsiders. You don’t need crazy character development for your characters in a movie at all times for their entire skill set as there’s more to a character than what they can do skill wise. This “self betterment” argument you’re making isn’t entirely valid as Furiosa develops in other ways! Just an explanation for WHY they are as they are and her psyche on how she views things and her interactions between people such as Jack and Demetrius. THAT is where the character development lies. Not in her skill set on what she can do. Lol bro. There’s more to characters than their powers, abilities, and skill sets. What you’re saying isn’t true on “hOrRiBle character development” AT ALL in the slightest as there was subtle development from her and the other characters she interacts. It’s not just the “action and acrobatics and cinematography” that’s there AT ALL! There’s more to what’s going on!

I've seen Fury Road more than a handful of times. Honestly one of my favorite modern-dystopian movies. I think one of my favorite things "Furiousa" does is provide more exposition on The Citadel, The Bullet Farm, and Gas-Town. We hear about the Bullet Farm and Gas-Town in Fury Road, but actually get to see them in Furiousa. I also like how the film directly leads into Furiousa rescuing the women of Fury Road at the end of Furiosa. Something about when movies do that is extremely reminiscent of playing a video game sequel, and seeing parts of the original game in the sequel. Outside of that, I watched the movie from home, and fell asleep numerous times throughout the movie, or was just generally uninterested, to the point I'd check my phone numerous times throughout watching. I could watch old movies all day and all night, I'm particularly fond of movies that I've already seen. I could easily watch movies, knowing what happens, when it happens, how it happens, etc and stay interested, so long as it's a good watch. So, for me to be that uninterested with the world telling of Furiosa...well... it kind of made me disappointed. I can't put my finger on my disappointment with the film either. I don't have a problem with female-lead performances. Most series' and movies coming showcasing this "strong female lead" stuff taking Hollywood by storm, are doing it all wrong. They diminish the entire franchise, in order to bolster up an average female character, at the cost of the entire series. Furiosa did the opposite, in that they have this bad-ass world, and the female character grows to the world, if that makes sense. Maybe it's just that my expectations were too high? I think what the series needed was a sequel - not a prequel. Anywho, regardless - It's sad to see that this film flopped as hard as it did. It more than likely means we'll never see a return to this iteration of the Mad-Max world.

Kinda felt the same after watching it. I like it but didn't love it like Fury Road. It hard to point out way? I kinda felt like the other characters were more interesting then Furiosa. With the ending. I kinda think they made Furiosa a psycho with the ending with the tree. It a good movie and maybe a movie I will like more rewatching. I loved the middle action scene with the flying and chase. That my favorite action scene of the movie.
