Jerry shows were a great, secret escape. I love the Dead, but a small theatre with Garcia likely set the bar for perfection in my life. Thanks for the reaction, man.

"You're killing me, Smalls," The music you've picked this time is stuff I never thought I like. When people say this or that is something they never knew they needed. I didn't understand, until this song. I met my best friend in 1978 and then in 2010 & we started to work together. Everything fell apart. I knew what happened, but I couldn't voice it. Then you "made" 😊 me listen to this! This is one of the best songs I ever heard. Not just because of the lyrics, the music is incredible too. Thanks. ❤

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY covers a Bob Dylan song like Jerome John Garcia, and his friend Merl Saunders. I have this CD album on my wall, with a self-acquired Merl Sunders autograph inside the front cover. On the Bass is John Kahn, of course, with Bill Vitt on Drums, and Merl on a Hammond B3 Organ. Thank You for playing this, an all time favorite.

I almost skipped this as I have never been a big fan of Bob Dylan or the Grateful Dead - gasp !!! I know that seems sacreligious coming from a girl of the 60/70's. I don't dislike either, just always felt - meh 🥱. HOWEVER, I loved this cover of a well known Dylan song. Of course the lyrics are genius - Dylan's a great poet; i loved the softer, more sensitive vocal, and the instrumentals - the guitar solos and was that a mandolin I hear towards the end? I am going to have to reset my opinions of the Dead and/or Garcia. Perhaps I just didn't ever hear good songs 🤔, or maybe I've matured a bit? Anyway, I'm glad I listened and thank you to whoever requested this. BTW - I don't know if this is just urban legend, but I always heard that Dylan wrote this about Joan Baez who he used to be close with before they had a falling out. Perhaps some fan knows the story??

That’s Jerry making his guitar sound like a mandolin. Checkout an After Midnight-> Eleanor Rigby > After midnight from 1980.

Nicely done. It's interesting to hear Jerry deliver the song vocally different than Bob. Bob's delivery is like a middle finger in the face, Jerry's delivery has this passive pain to it.
