The 2019 Mercedes G-Class is HERE. I think I might have said 2018 a few times in the video. But either way, the beautiful redesign of Mercedes' off road power house is here! And its time we find out how capable it is off road. Should the luxurous Mercedes G-Class stick to the pavement? or can it hold its own against the other off road vehicles... There is only one way to find out.

Mercedes changed the front end from a straight axle to an IFS. This was likely done to remedy “death wobble” that is prevalent on straight axle front ends. It also makes the vehicle ride more comfortably on road, and increases articulation off road. Some weight was also saved in process. Not even the Jeep Wrangler has 3 lockers. This is a formidable off-roader and Mercedes has kept up the tech and off road prowess suitably. Good video for explaining the lockers - no one does that. Would love to have one with a diesel. 👍

As for the lane keeping assist, its called "lane departure assist" and its standard on all new Mercs, even the A-class, it uses the brakes on the opposite rear wheel to bring you back into the lane, it doesnt use the steering... You need distronic plus for it to steer aswell. (I work for Mercedes)

ZACHARY RICHARD I think the light being there actually doesn't pass the stupid laws that protect people against being hit. Like I know that some cars need to be designed so that if they hit a person it will cause the least amount of damage to the person. So I think since mercdes maybe wanted to keep that light there so they instead made the whole fender calapsable. But that's just what I'm getting so idk.

Sure it did new. Especially the rocker panels not letting water in. The weather stripping there keeps an water tight seal till the rubber gets old. Where most vehicles are not watertight like the g wagon is the firewall due to wiring, vent and even steering components passing through. Moral of the story is water tighting a vehicle is not that hard and your Dad's truck is easily repairable once location of leak is found.
