I actually bought this phone because of your durability review. I had to replace my 3 year old Nokia 1520, and wanted to move on to Android for the first time, so I had a lot of research to do. I went to numerous other channels for reviews on the cameras, software, audio/visual stuff, but I checked every phone I was considering against this channel to see how it would hold up. I was very happy to see how sturdy this one is, and I left a comment on the durability test video to support your methods of bend testing! I still want to see a durability test on the 1520 though, even if it's not a new phone. It's the best phone I've ever owned. A 6" phone that I had for 3 years w/no case or screen protector, and it's still in great shape.

phrozt - I did exactly that back in October. My screen digitizer went bad on my Lumia 1520. Glance Plus in the Google play store helped me feel at home with my ZTE Axon 7.

Cool to see they added a vapor chamber onto the phone, I was wondering why my Axon 7 would warm up on the whole thing and not one exact area like my former ZenFone 2. Great job ZTE!

Well. Been 3 years since I've had mine. Using it right now. Can't remember the last time I used my desktop, or laptop. Because I cast everything to my Samsung TV when I want a bigger screen. It's had all the updates everyone wanted from the start. Including VR. The phone still sounds great. And I have a little Tribit Xsound Go, if it needs a Boost. And this phone will Boost that Well 💪 And if I ever need a new phone. Probably would get Another Axon 7. It's done everything asked of it. Done it well, all day every day. And for all this time. Still looks brand new. And Only cost $279 on eBay way back when on sale. About the same price now. Which is less than 4 cents a day, rounded out so far. And it's still going... ...i bought a caddy for my Dog with what ive saved over the years 😂...

Watching on a 3 years old Axon 7. It was worth the Money. It's time to move on. Battery is 2/3 of the capacity and no security patches. But it's hard to find a phone with real stereo speaker like this. And I love still the fingerprint at the back.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT: The ZTE 3140mAh batteries found on eBay look like the proper OEM batteries to replace with compared to the Cameron Sino 3100mAh batteries found on Amazon. Replacement procedure is best done by carefully heating speaker grills & having spare 2-sided tape to place back on. Also heat the battery by running something like Daydream or Pokemon GO while charging to loosen the glue for easy removal. DO NOT RISK USING HEAT GUN on the battery! This can lead to leaking/exploding the battery and/or melting the screen or damaging other components. Bonus Tip: I would suggest fully removing the thermal compound with a microfiber cloth and Isopropyl 99%(not 70%) then replace it with some high quality thermal compound like Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut or Prolimatech PK-3.

@@yoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyo81 TRAITOR 😂 I actually did a test of sorts on mine. Was getting charge amounts and rates that weren't consistent. Nothing THAT out of the ordinary from a battery this old, with constant use and charging for over 25yrs. (dog years 😂) And I know how not to leave things on a charger. Or even let them drain or charge completely. But. I've had mine on a Slow Charger lately. And have increased the discharge time (from use of course) by about 20+%. Pretty Cool. Not sure why. But I have a good idea. Either way. I can still get a good day of use with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. I DO Like This Phone. And about $250 for a new one. I'm considering that,.. I've had a Samsung Galaxy S2 a few year ago and when I got that I thought that was the perfect phone. I heard the S3 S4 and S5 were just upgrades to the S2 but weren't that big of a game changer or that great. My S2 broke from droping a 50lb dumbell on it at the gym so I had to get a temp replacement. I got a $50 phone and it wasn't as good as the S2 but I realized there were a lot of things that was better on the $50 phone that I liked better than my S2 like better speakers, waterproof, newer android versions, etc. I learned to love it or except it then I broke that one. I wanted to find a phone that can be almost perfect that didn't break bank to buy so I took a chance with the Axon 7. Well I can't complain about anything on this really cause it still is better then any of the phones I had and it is still future proof. I can see people who don't have one say it's bad but it does what you want a phone to do and does everything well. I am glad I didn't spend 2x as much to buy a Galaxy again. I hate the glass back on those.

What a huge pain in the ass to tear down. Some tips: * The speaker covers take a good amount of heat to get off, but make sure you aren't using too much or you'll melt your covers. get a really sharp pointed object and start on one of the top corners, then work your way across. * Getting the frame separated is a lot harder than it looks. Work your way around getting it loose then focus on one side with a strong metal bit like he did. * The speaker is again really on there. I wouldn't recommend using heat for safety reasons. I worked my way up and down the right side getting my object just a little farther in each time. It will take a while and a good amount of force. * Unless you add your own adhesive it's probably not going to hold the corners down great. Even if you are super careful you'll probably have some distortion on the covers. Basically your phone isn't going to look like new anymore. Keep that in mind determining if you really need to replace whatever you're replacing.

Zack, the reason why some smartphones (esp. those who marked as "HiFi smartphones" or speakerphones) have plastic speakergrill and plastic cover from the inside is to prevent reverberation in the audio output, I KNOW speakers can use some sort of metal alloys that doesn't reverb, but for smartphones the budget is limited, most smartphones with metal grill speakers are garbage sounding, even the high end ones, my axon 7 is nice on frequency response, although it has 1 part only which is the tweeter, so subbass rolls of early like any smartphone/tablet speaker :(

The liquid cooling thingy (heatpipe) actually has tiny bit of liquid inside. And it also helps to heat up lithium battery up to operating temp. in colder days.
@Septfox8 жыл бұрын
The heatpipe is a good idea in theory... Too bad about the whole "heat has nowhere to go because it's sandwiched between a battery and screen" thing. They really should have taken advantage of the aluminum back, that should make a pretty great heatsink. I guess it might make the phone uncomfortable to hold at high loads, though.

Question: I noticed you linked two different pry tools aside from the tool kit that seems to provide it's own pry tools. The metal one is clearly the best option, and the longer green one I can see coming in real handy too. I was wondering if you've actually used the tool kit listed and whether or not you used different pry tools because of a problem with the provided pry tools. I'd rather not spend extra money is all..and would hope that I can get my phone open just fine with what's provided in the kit(I don't need to do much except get the device open). And by the way, Thanks for making this video! I've been a proud Axon 7 owner for almost a year now. No complaints really..except for visible dust getting in between the camera lenses and the backing glass. I'll soon be using this video as a reference to take care of that myself. My photos still come out pretty good with no immediately apparent signs of impairment. Everything focuses fine and there are no visible specs in the photos. The lighting seems off a bit ever since I noticed the dust in there and I went back to photos I took when the phone was new..there is a huge difference in clarity. Hoping you see this comment and are able to answer my question about the pry tools.
