I decided this year that I was no longer going to force myself to read books that I wasn't enjoying. Life is too short and there are too many amazing books waiting for me. I also decided that I was going to read all of the unread books on my shelf by the end of this year, so that I could either release them back into the wild or they could earn a coveted spot on my "oh my goodness I loved this book so much" shelf. I recently decided to get a library card and then realized if I am more excited about the books that I have borrowed from the library than the ones on my shelf, it's time to cull the herd. Giving yourself permission to love the books you love and let go of the ones you don't is really amazing. I enjoyed "The Coldest Girl in Coldtown" (borrowed it from the library) but it wasn't my favorite Holly Black book. Really looking forward to the Spiderwick Chronicles!

I haven't read any of these books, but I remember reading Leviathan a couple years ago and couldn't get into it. I've slowly been fixing my mindset about "having" to finish a book or series, too. Love the middle grade rant. People dismiss it WAY too easily. As someone who has reread the Leviathan trilogy more than once, I think you should give it another go. From what I've gleaned about your personal reading tastes, I think you might really like Goliath. I know I did.

I've made a goal for myself to get at least 1/2 of the way through the unreads on my bookshelf before making any big new book purchases (admittedly I've gotten a couple new books but shhh). I'm having a lot of trouble putting down books that I'm feeling just "eh" about. For some reason, I feel like I owe it to the books to finish it completely, even if I'm not enjoying the book at all.

I got rid off about 40-50 Books in 2018. I read all of them in the past and I didn't like / hated them. Honestly, I really don't understand why I was holding onto them for such a long time, it's insane. While meant for a much, and I mean much, younger audience I would 10/10 recommend the book Esperanza Rising. It begins in Mexico and follow a girl and her mother on their migration to the U.S. after tragedy has struck their family. The family dynamic, the rich vs poor dynamic, the idea of having to completely rearrange your life. It's a good one.

I always feel so good after an unhaul. I need to film my next unhaul video. I unhauled a lot of the books I did more recently because of writing style or not liking the main character. I didn't personally like The Rebel Belle trilogy after the first book either, and I agree, it should have been a Duology. Sorry if my comment sounds redundant. Does everyone really forgets what happens along the series that quickly to not be able to read the next one?
