Hi Jessica (& Peanut)! Hope you are well and not suffering from too much cabin fever in this stay at home time! With everyone at home now and feeling down about the things we can't do, I was wondering, would you consider doing a Walk N' Talk about positive thinking and finding a silver lining in all the many things we CAN do from home? I love that it's giving me the opportunity to focus on all the projects, cleaning, organizing, and indoor activities I've been too busy for in my day-to-day normal. I'm cooking more, spending more time with my family and actually am able to read a book or two...or ten! I'm also planning to learn crochet! Anyway, just thought I'd throw out the idea. Your videos are so uplifting and always help me start my day with a smile! Stay well and air hugs to you & Peanut! ❤

I just found your vids today, Jessica, and I'm really grateful. I followed the above, as well as the low-impact 12min workout. I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am for you creating these. I have knee issues (patella, osteoarthritis) and your workouts are God-sent. Thank you!

I started with you in 2018 and have your DVDs. I love the you tube workouts also. I fell off the healthy wagon due to injuries in 2018 but back on trak and it feels so good. I started eating my way through stress of injury & slow prcess of healing. Thank u for being here for us. I have always been active but as i get older overuse of my joints has become a big problem so your workouts are good for me @ this stage of my life. (Or anyones life. ) No excuses no gym needed just the DVDs or the you tube workouts. They work. Again thank you. # feeling better

I've done so many different workout styles and programs and eating regimens. I've finally come to the conclusion that what works for me best is to workout at least 30 minutes a day, 6 days a week, and just do what I feel like doing. I'm not doing anyone else's program anymore. I've learned that my body wants to work out at 5 pm, and I ask myself, "What do I feel like doing today?" Then I just do that, be it going to the gym, workout with weights at home, do a workout video, or just go for a walk outside. I've learned to listen to my body, and I'm happier and in pretty good shape. I follow the same philosophy with eating. I don't follow anyone else's program--I just focus on healthy, whole foods most of the time. I loosely count calories and watch my portion sizes so I don't go crazy, but If I really feel like eating ice cream or another treat, then I do. I just don't do it everyday. It has been working for me and I'm happy.

For me, I've learned to handle that being where I am at doesn't have to be all figured out. Everything falls into place naturally if it's meant to be, but with hard work involved. Really love these series. Hoping you do more! Thank you Jessica and Peanut! May God bless!! Sending hugs.💗💗💗

Oh Jessica. this such a Godsend! I managed to do the entire 15 minutes of walking..It took an hour because I needed to take small breaks every 3 - 5 minutes. As I explained 4 days ago in another video, I am 68 years old and recovering from knee replacement surgery on one knee and the other knee is causing me challenges. I am looking forward to being able to the full walk without resting 3 times weekly by April 10th. This week, I completed 2 attempts at walking and this 2nd time is SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER that the 1st time - 4 days ago!!! I feel so GOOD!!!!

Thanks for this wonderful information, Jessica! I really have to start keeping everything more simple. I injured my back quite badly to the point that I could not even move. Once I was able to get mobile, I found that walking with your Walk + Talks was a great way to get back into exercise again, but that I have to learn to simplify (not over do it with hard core workouts)!

Thank you Jessica for this motivational topic. It is exactly what I needed to here. It is true for a lot of us to feel we're not doing enough, or we find ourselves comparing which is so not good. I was finding myself trying to do too much with workouts that just was not right for me and I would feel defeated as well as depressed. I would feel like I'm not good at this exercise thing and would stop and start over again and again. I have learned from this topic to do what is best for me and listen to my body. My body will let me know what I can and cannot do at the fitness level right for me. Now instead of doing 30-40 mins of vigorous high impact workouts (I'm 60 yrs. old and have always been active) I now do 10-15 mins of exercise once in the a.m. and sometime another 10-15 mins in the afternoon. I also make sure I get 2-3 days of strength training done. I am much more consistent with exercising and I look forward to working out. I don't beat myself up if I miss a day or two, but I am mindful to get moving again. Whether it's a walk in the mall with my husband or a 10 minute dumbbell workout. I keep moving. I have been working out with you for a good 2 years now and I have benefited tremendously from your videos. Keep them coming! Thank you. Ruth

I truly enjoyed your topic on appreciating your body and working toward your health. I am 57 and due to being bullied since I was 13 due to my being overweight, and issues with anxiety and depression. I learned to hate my body and myself to the point I physically beat myself whenever I put on an ounce of weight, or when other people, especially women who I work with push me and say I'm not sick. There are no physical scares and I'm faking to get out of work or to work part-time. They've gone as far as to say that my Life Partner covers for me because he is a Manager where I work. Jessica you are teaching me to appreciate that at 57 I can get up and exercise with you, and that I now have a body most 30 year olds want, and I've learned I can conquer my struggles. I have the power to conquer this and to show others they will not destroy me or my character.

My first walk and talk and so enjoyed it. I'm totally behind something that works for you and there isn't just one box that fits all. Thank you for all of the encouraging walk and talk videos! I've spent so much of my life with an all or nothing mindset about diet and exercise, and your wonderful videos have helped me prioritize tuning into my body and taking care of myself. I've realized that any day I track my food intake and get some extra movement in counts as progress, whether that's a 1500 calorie or a 2500 calorie day and whether that's getting a great sweaty workout in or finding a few extra minutes to go for a walk or do one of your walk and talks. I'm seeing much more progress because I'm not dwelling on perceived failures and giving up.

I apologize that I always seem to leave the same comment, but I'm just being 100% honest! :) I've REALLY made progress with getting away from over-exercising and focusing on the workouts that enhance my physical and mental well-being, instead of the ones that tear me down, wear me out, and keep me unhealthy. I'm still underweight, but at least I'm feeling more energetic and stronger - I look forward to my daily balanced workout. Love the acronym meanings in the video, especially for F.O.C.U.S. !

I really enjoyed this walk and the message. There is so much overwhelming information out there. Constantly being told you should do this and that, no not that, but this; it gets to be too much. I myself started this year more simply just Pilates and walking. It’s what I felt my body needed right now. Thanks for always being inspiring and offering so many options on KZbin and dvd.

I love this. In the past few years and with your help, Jessica, I have realized that exercise does not have to be complicated and I am so grateful for this lesson. It has allowed me to take my workouts outside when it is a nice day without feeling like I need to be on a treadmill to count it as exercise! I love breathing in the fresh air rather than smelling a sweat filled room! How refreshing and enlightening! I have a thought for a new walk and talk too. Can you discuss the importance of recover days and also why flexibility is so important. So many of us feel guilty when we take a recovery day, so please help remind us of why we need them!

Very timely for me. I try to keep it simple, but I often take on too much or demand a pace of myself that my body or mind can't handle. Periodically I have to stop and reevaluate, and this is one of those times. I am currently logged out of all social media and intend to take a break through mid-May. Then I will decide what to keep and what to get rid of. We are also headed for a vacation tomorrow, much needed, and one of the things I will ponder is what else needs to go. Thanks for all you do. One thing I will definitely KEEP is my collection of your workouts!!

Great advice and reminders while moving. Yes, I feel overwhelmed by the objects and things to do we surround our life with! Keeping me from the simplicity of breathing in nature and simply observing nature. It is a constant escaping from myself.....and that is why I subscribed to your video, it reminds me NOT to escape but relax my mind and move in the mean time. That is why I love your Peanut! The ultimate reminder! I am in my 50's and I had to stop to exercise for over a month due to bursitis in my right hip. I am all better now. Your videos help me to ease into the regiment of Yoga and stretching, by warming up my body with knowledge and motion. Thank you!

YES! I'm with you on keeping things simple. I have many friends who are doing a certain eating plan. Two have been on it for over a year, so it's simple for them. When I read the instructions, it gave me anxiety so I know it's not for me. However, if I can have one meal that is similar to their eating plan, I can do it. It's helping me incorporate more healthy food into my diet. Another thing that is easier is exercise. Between Jessica Smith and another KZbin channel, I'm able to get in my steps, hold myself accountable, laugh at myself and eat and drink properly. Question, Jessica, have you published a book?

Thank you so much for these videos, Jessica (or as I refer to you, Jess). I'm a new viewer, beginning last week, and I watch your videos twice a day, exercising and walking with you (I'm also one of the viewers that talk back as if you can hear me). Your videos inspire me to get moving and take the times out of my day I can to do so, as I'm a writer, and my career is pretty sedentary. I walk my dogs, but as for overall daily steps, I was really lacking. That's what got me hooked on your videos. The idea that I can take breaks to get some extra steps in my day that I wouldn't have before and you make it so easy and enjoyable. I look forward to all the positive changes that will come from your help (and I already feel so much better!). Thanks again!

Great message, Jessica. By blindly following what other people are telling us is practically denying our own self worth. Certainly we can listen to advice from others for ideas we may not have thought about, but ultimately we need to listen honestly to our own bodies and minds to be able to nourish ourselves appropriately. Ooh and a suggestion for walk and talk topic that just popped into my mind - the BREATH! It is so underrated, yet without it we cannot live. Most of us, especially women, are shallow breathers, yet BREATH is literally our key to life. Breathing effectively not only helps on a physical level, but an energetic and spiritual one too! :o) xXx

I recently realized that I seriously need to simplify my life. Like you said about the shiney things. I am definitely one of those! I want to do it all! Until there's no time for any of it. LoL. I really enjoyed your story about when you first started. I'm well into my fitness journey, now a personal trainer and in school to be a dietitian, but my start was very similar to yours. Ten minute work outs on dvds... In fact, I have one of yours!! Yours was my first I believe. 😁 It was years ago. But starting simple was key! Now its time to return to simplicity. Thank you for this message, your workouts, AND that dvd. 😁🤗❤️

This topic really resonated with me today. I know it's a week later, but I just haven't been motivated. Many friends of mine went on that 100-days of real food challenge where they don't eat anything processed. It worked well for one friend in particular and she belittled everyone else who wasn't doing the challenge. I decided to give it a go, lasting for all of 5 minutes before I felt angry, frustrated, stressed and hated myself for not being able to do it. I've learned, over time, that the best method for me is to count every calorie. It doesn't work for most people but I need that. I need to know how many calories I have left and to plan my entire day's food budget in the morning. It works so well for me and when I don't do it, I overeat and feel bloated and lethargic. I've gained about 10 pounds this year, which tore me up and got me hating myself, so I just stopped it all for a few days. I thought about why I was upset, what small changes I could make to get back on track, and then started doing them. I'm back to counting every calorie and have been doing it for a week without overeating or feeling hungry/frustrated. This walk-n-talk made me realize that I had the right to do what was best for me and ignore the fads or diets that don't work or get me off the track, so thank you Jessica! I feel a lot better about myself and my goals now!

Hi Jessica, I would love a walk and talk on how to find balance. i.e. how to know when you have done enough. I find I feel good from exercise but then I always feel like I should try to do a bit more, and a bit more than that... and then I end up injured or worn out. I guess the same applies to food, sleep etc - how much is enough, but not too much?

off topic, but i would love more of the ballet, barre-free workouts, the quiet ones. i really enjoy the one you currently have, but variety is the spice of life ;-) keep up the good work, i appreciate your healthy attitude towards exercise and the way you encourage your viewers

Something I find that makes life a bit more simply for me is when ever I make dinner is to make an extra portion or more so I can have a good lunch the next day instead of picking less healthy alternatives

This Walk and Talk made me think about the difference because acknowledging a "failure" and giving up. For example, if you're on a weight loss program and it's not quite working for you - how can you dig into whether it's just not right for you or whether you are just giving up on it?Or, is it the same thing? I'm not sure if the difference between the two is, or if there is a difference. I'm doing an online weight loss program that has great articles and an online coach, but I am so sick of logging my food and I'm not that interested in constantly posting on an online group. I can't tell right now if it's not right for me, or if I'm tired and just want to quit. Probably a little of both.

I feel like lately, the simplicity in my life stems from my workouts. When I exercise, I feel like it takes me out of the craziness of life and back to the basics of just moving my body.

I need to learn to keep it simple. Several years ago I started my weight loss journey. I was over 340 lbs at the time and NEEDED a change. Over the course of two years, I dropped over 180lbs and became a new person. But I also developed some not-so-healthy habits. I think I did too much research and learned too many things and tried to cram it all into my new healthy lifestyle. But it was just too much. I felt great at first, but then it wasn’t enough. I started exercising too much because I needed to do HiiT and strength because it was the best! I needed to do an hour a day. No, 90 minutes a day! Two hours!! Can’t eat this or that! Cut down the calories, up the cardio! No strength! Just do both! Five years later, I’m fighting binge eating and over-exercising still. It’s a vicious cycle that’s hard to break. I feel like I need to do it all. I’m working now on making it more simple. Lower impact doesn’t mean I’ll gain 100 pounds overnight, it actually might mean my legs won’t kill me tomorrow. I have done a horrible disservice to my joints that I pay for every day, but I still feel wrong if I don’t work out twice a day. Today is actually my ‘off’ day, but I don’t feel bad for this little session because it helps remind me to keep things simple. Listen to the body, if it’s screaming for a break, give it one. I’m trying to get my brain back into the mindset I had in the beginning of my journey. It was so much more simple then. I exercised to feel good, not because I had to. I ate healthy foods I liked, not ones that I’m supposed to because the online fitness gurus said to. It’s hard and I’m only taking baby steps at this point, but it’s still progress. I’ve learned so much from these walk & talk sessions. Thank you so much for them, you really do make a difference. :-)

I take a prescription that unfortunately makes it hard to lose weight (my doctor won't let me drive if I don't take it). I decided that there were so many other reasons to workout. I like to a variety of workouts.
