I am grateful for your channel!! Last year my husband and son both had serious medical issues. I gave up my workouts and spent time stress eating from hospital vending machines, gaining 20 lbs. They are both well now (VERY grateful for that!) and I am starting back into a routine. At this point I'm only up to about 15-20 minute workouts and admittedly feeling bad about myself. But today you reminded me I am doing something which is better than nothing!! I'm never going to look 25 again, but I can be healthy and strong!! Thanks for all you do! (And thanks to peanut for the comic relief! Love that pooch!) Kris S

Wow, what a confirmation-so grateful for you and your work Jessica! In a hurry and instead of trying to word a perfect comment, I am just going to share a piece of what I journaled this morning during my quiet time with God: "Take your focus off ____________ (fill in the blank of what is worrying you here) and put it on me. Your decisions will then be motivated by love and not trying to ..... DON'T COMPARE YOURSELF WITH OTHERS. YOUR PATH IS UNIQUE - EVERYONE'S IS. ... " Have a wonderful blessed day all!!!

Jessica and Peanut!! I love you guys. I just started working out with you a couple weeks ago and tonight was my first mile walk and talk. I really enjoyed it, and hearing you made me think of when I compare myself to others and how it can ruin my whole mood! I may leave the house feeling good about myself, but when I see someone I think looks better; or whatever the case may be, I feel less confident. And that's not fair to me! I liked the quote you put up about only being better than who you were yesterday so much I wrote it in my planner to remind myself. You are wonderful. Thank you for your videos and your care ♥️

Thank you Jessica for your walk & talk videos! When the pandemic hit our office closed and we all worked from home which has been so hard on me mentally and physically. Now 50 pounds heavier I am saddened at how I let myself get here and don't know how to fix it. I added this to my morning and after work routine, and feel better knowing I am taking a small but important step. Thank you!

I hadn't done a walk and talk walk before and I loved it! I'm just starting out and it was a nice, not too fast walk for me. I did half of it, took a singing break (getting ready for karaoke tonight), and then did the other half. Now I go downtown Portland for the Pride March. I'm not walking in it but supporting it. I'll definitely get more walking in! Just needed a warm up for walking downtown and this is a great one for that! I'll definitely be doing more of these! Thanks, Jessica!

I suppose it's natural to some extent to compare ourselves with others. Its part of the motivation to improving ourselves but it shouldn't be allowed dominate so that we start feeling bad about ourselves. As usual Jessica your comments and advice are common sense and down to earth. You certainly made me examine how I feel about myself today. One thing I've learned from you is about gratitude and thinking about what I'm grateful for every day helps me to fall asleep each night. Thank you

A zillion thanks, Jessica. I've been using your workouts on and off for years. As part of my prescribed recovery activities from lung surgery a week ago, I'm supposed to walk 2-3 times a day. Thank you for this. I actually probably compare my older self to my younger self more often than I compare myself to someone else. I definitely think you have helped me with this too however. I appreciate the many options you give and the encouragement saying things like: “you don’t have to add all the spices to make a good soup”. I also often think about what you say about not comparing yourself to someone else’s highlight reel. I try to use my Instagram account to follow those that inspire me. I love getting on and reading different inspirational quotes! It is so encouraging!

This is such an important message, especially about social media. Everything is so instant nowadays, that we end up hurting ourselves. We can't all be Kardashians or Chrissy Teigen or whomever the current super model is. We need to be our own person. Thanks for the message. Time for me to reexamine what I believe and stop the madness about being something I am not nor can never be.

What a wonderful walk and talk. I might play this more than once for myself. I knew I needed this reminder today. I need to keep exercise about my wellness and feeling good instead of looking like my 25 year old self in a bikini or my SIL in hers. It makes me feel terrible every time I look in the mirror. I want to be the best version of me, so I can live and enjoy my life for as long as I am living. This is truly my ultimate goal. Thank you for the reminder.

I used to compare myself to others all the time. It got to the point where I'd get depressed because I started my weight-loss journey before someone and they lost more weight than me. I'd give up and have to restart and I finally started the gratitude thing you mentioned. I'd take a moment to be happy for them and then find out why I was upset or find a reason not to be upset. One of my friends lost a ton of weight but she did it in a very unsafe way. It made me feel better to know that I was doing what my doctor and I thought was best and not what some fad said I had to do. I'm so thankful that I found you (and Peanut) because you're not just about weight loss. It's the whole package with your workouts; it's about being healthier, losing weight, feeling good about yourself no matter where you are, and encouraging others to take care of themselves.

Thank you, Jessica! I know exactly what you mean about everyone being structurally different. I have never been able to successfully do a workout video due to lack of strength, coordination or flexibility. As I got older, I just felt like walking wasn't enough. My upper body felt weak. I tried your videos on a whim. I can do them! I love that I can do all the moves by following your Mom (she's fabulous!) & also challenge myself when I feel stronger. I sometimes compare myself to myself at a younger age, but it has become easier with my new strength & health to accept the now. Thank you for empowering me to walk on and walk strong!

Hi Jessica. It has been almost 18 months since I have been able to do these walks. In September 2018, one of my knees totally blew out and I learned that I would probably need Knee Replacement surgery. That Surgery was performed in July 2019 - I had to wait because of my job. I am so out of shape and can only do 2-3 minutes at a time. Walking FEELS SO GOOD. And I love the new Walk and Talk topics that you have added!! So... I am determined to finish the mile but it's taking awhile. That's OK... I will not overdue it. My goal is to be able to complete the video in one shot by April 10th - and I want to do it 3x a week! #gettingbackintoshape!!!

I too find I compare myself to others. I think that's pretty normal. It's the bad self talk and judgement that can be the issue. It took a lot work to not let the opinions of others get to me, and comcern myself more with what my Creator would think instead. I love your walk and talks. Despite Hashi's, with yours and Lucy Wyndham-Read's videos and learning keto I'm down 15# and close to 12 over all inches. Thanks bunches.

A person’s body image has a lot to do with the comparison downward spiral. I have struggled with body dysmorphic disorder for years-taking myself completely off of facebook, Instagram, etc was one of the best things I could do in order for me to move forward with my self love journey. I do my best to choose networks (like Jessica’s channel) that nourish me so I can be a better person for myself, family and loved ones. Xoxo

I always love to have you and Peanut in my daily workouts. If I got to see this in my early twenties (I am 28 now), I would've appreciated hearing this greatly. I felt behind in my life back then due to comparing others in having a boyfriend, finishing school or even having friends. It changed when I started to become grateful for what I had and has been with me ever since. Plus, not looking in social media is great! I've became a private person, so all accomplishments and joys are shared in person with my loved ones. But regardless, what an inspiration this is and thank you Jessica for this talk. God bless always!! A hug to you and Peanut. 💛💛

This was my second 1 Mile Walk and Talk for the day and it's been great to fit in some movement into what is a 'messy' day schedule-wise. For me, it is no longer so much about comparing myself to others as it is to comparing my previous self, when I was younger, to my current self. When I was younger, I was quite a physical specimen, so to speak and I thought nothing of really extending my body to the edge of what it could do in dance and in physical fitness. Exercise was never about whether I enjoyed it or not, it used to be about challenging my body to get stronger, sleeker and be in peak condition. As the years have progressed and certain challenges (including health challenges that messed with my balance), I've had to accept that I had to make adjustments . It's taken awhile to accept not just the physical but the emotional changes (motivation and confidence has) that have impeded me from making exercise a priority. I never thought I would be one of those people who had to squeeze in fitness breaks or activity time, rather than an all out 45 minute cardio/strength blast but it's what I have to do now and I'm with it! It's better than getting no exercise. 10 minutes or 15 minutes a few times a day suits me fine right now.

Thank you so much for making the Walk n' Talk series, I would love to see more!!! =) I really enjoy these as a great option to stay active during pregnancy and not get so all or nothing about exercise! I had a gym membership and then canceled because I don't wanna do an intense workout that's not safe during pregnancy. My husband is still doing intense weight-lifting & cardio workouts, but topics like this remind me that even if I can't do that same level of intensity right now, something is still better than nothing. I appreciate being able to do these convenient 10 min walks at home... 10 minutes feels very do-able as a busy Mom, not having to waste drive time to and from a gym, I can get started right away at home in my living room. You even got my 3 & 5 year old to try the 1-mile walk with me! They love the clips of your cute dog Peanut =) I would love to hear your perspective on handling worry for a Walk n' Talk topic. How do you face your fears? I'd love to hear any personal stories you'd be willing to share from your own life of how you overcame fear! I feel like I can get so hypervigilant as a Mom and get obsessed over such small details that can ruin my day. I like being able to exercise and hear your motivational topics to get my mind on something more positive. So thanks again for all you do, keep up the good work! =)

Just what I needed to hear. I compare myself to others, I used to do it almost constantly. But I am learning to appreciate my uniqueness more. I also realise that in order to be super slim I can no longer eat chocolate of puff pastry. Would that make me happier? No... I might have a bit of a muffin top, but I rather have that and eat yummie goods, then the other way around. It is good to know that every body on its own is different. My bone structure won't allow me to become super slim, but I can be healthy and strong and flexibel in the body I do have. Social media is a monster when it comes to comparison. It is indeed good to realise you only see the best of the best, you don't see the stretch marks, loose skin, wrinkles, spots etc. That makes it impossible to use as a comparison! And don't forget that the people how do have six pack abs spend a lot of time on that, it doesn't happen overnight. So it is good that they show how prood they are of it, and you can get inspired by it and start working on your abs, but don't feel like you have to do the same in order to be happy. You can be happy in your own way and inspire others in your own way

Great topic and SO PERTINENT to me and my thougts! My comparison to others occurs in person, not as a result of social media. So very damaging to one's self esteem!! A very good friend and I embarked on a weight loss journey together and my perception is that she has been more successful at losing more and I compare here clothing sizes with mine, etc. What I try to remind myself is that I don't want to be a "green-eyed monster" because she is my friend. I remind myself that I work out 5 days a week and have a very good fitness level--just because I am not as small as she is should not diminish what I have accomplished! (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't)!

First time doing your 1 Mile Walk & Talk. Enjoyed! As far as comparing, it has become easier to embrace who I am. A long journey traveled to get to that place. Not that I don't still have "those" days once in a while. As far as Social Media, for me personally, it robs me of my time more than anything. As well as some days there is just so much negative. I simply have to close out. BTW after doing the 1 Mile Walk & Talk I did one of your 30 min lower body sculpting workouts. *ouch* *lol*
