After a few camp outs with this mk2 skillet, I have been reasonably impressed with this tough little compact lightweight skillet. But the proof is in the cooking. A simple outdoor test cooking my favourite hiking lunch will be the proof in the pudding, or in this case (the omolate)...bexbugoutsurvivor

Thanks bex for another great video. Sadly I didn't watch it but a friend watched it on my behalf as I hid behind the curtains as I would have sleepless nights if I had seen you make your usual excellent comments and demonstration on a jetboil product which is far superior to my APG jetboil clone. At least you forewarned us about the content so I have no need to leave a criticizing comment like others seem to do. LOL. Take care bex and thanks for making excellent content video's with a bit of humour thrown in. Cheers, Ian

Western US hiker here, I love my MiniMo Jetboil. I never leave the burner attached while pouring water. Simple slight twist to lift off the burner lock. I added the summit skillet to my system last summer and it is a perfect system for cooking. I don't like the dehydrated bags, expensive and not really healthy. Cooking a nutritious meal is much more satisfying. Anyway, I hike up to around 11000 feet and have had no issues using my system. Colder weather you need to shake the fuel can a bit. Nice video over there in England✌🏻

WALES. Nice weather here in WALES, here in the UK (lecture over....lol) I don't think it makes an adverse difference if I leave the burner connected or not while pouring from the minimo. I I am aware I am meant to add the pot after the flame is lit, but with the pot being new the lugs don't locate easily. How ever since the making of this video the minimo stove and lugs have bedded in a lot better now. I have used dehydrated meals in the past, and although lightweight, there is little enjoyment nutrition or taste, and I need to carry additional water. A fried breakfast, and a potato and sausage dinner, is worth the weight trade off for me. I know other section hikers are turning to home cooking on the trail these days, but I do understand it may not be suitable for thu hikers....Thanx for watching....bex

Its a handy bit of kit for my low carb high protein diet. Teamed up with my Jetboil minimo for open pot cooking, or my Jetboil flash to warm up my precooked boil in the bag camp meals...bex

Good choice! Its one of the most compact nesting sets for the pot size (1 litre). Check out my jetboil minimo pot if you plan on open pot cooking (pasta/rice/veg/ect), otherwise the flash is ideal for boil in the bag precooked rations...bex

Good review Bex. I would really like to see how to cook in the British/Dutch SS mess tins if you get around to it. Only been cooking the Ramen Noodles in mine, would like to see how to do up some proper bacon and meats without the sticking. Atb, John

Just 1 minute of after care, can extend its life. I will keep it away from Mrs Bex, who will undoubtedly plunge it into hot soapy water, and it will come out with more mess on it, than it started with...lol

No mate, just got a lot to get thru with other projects. People don't always want to see camps with original ideas, and are more comfortable with more familiar camping techniques..

Hi Bex, I would wager you are a 'Military Man' - Regiment? I found that if you are slow igniting the gas with the pot fixed attached will get a nasty flash! also I think when the pot and burning ring expand you can't separate/unscrew them so you have to lift the whole thing up to pour. I use a Minimo at home to cheat the electricity people and have made 125 cups of tea from a 600 Cylinder! I just locate the pot without screwing it, and when water boiled lift it off.

Yup defo add the pot after the stove is ignited, its just tricky when the pot is new, easier when worn in a bit though. My original Jetboil flash was designed to be used with ORP (rat packs) and stowed in a webbing utility pouch (hence why civvies don't understand their functionality) and prefer say the MRS pocket rocket as an example. I sometimes carry some of the heavier army kit, (BUT) I don't have many individual pieces, just shelter insulation and a cook set, (warm dry and well fed) all in for just 8Kg base weight, housed in my vintage Berghaus Cyclops 90 litres. I also use a smaller BRS stove and GSI pot, for light weight multi night summer treks, all in for 4.5Kg housed in my Gelert 25 litre pack, 2 completely different styles of kit, for 2 totally different styles of camp...Thanx for watching...bex
