@@christophergibson7155 Yeah, well, like I give a sh*t currently about the moral system of Deuteronomy 20:13, 21:11, Judges 21:14, and 2 Samuel f***ing 24:16, mate. Also, ever heard of Mahavira? Guru Nanak, or Siddhartha? Or even Confucius, or even - Voltaire? Many of who just got on with things. And sin BEGAN IN Heaven. It just popped UP one day out of NOTHING, or possibly bad angelic design. Now - why could Satan revisit heaven... EVER, or keep any powers? And who cares what some demented, deranged being, thought of Job? And his 'replaceable' (spit) family. Also, who sits out a blood libel, upon medieval Jews, a slave trade lasting 127,000 times the period it took to accuse, sentence, and eliminate Achan's ENTIRE family, in Joshua 7:24 - or Korah's, in Numbers 16:28 (ages of many, unknown) or to eliminate one man gathering firewood on Sabbath, in Numbers 15:32? And the thousands eliminated, by plague, for being counted in a f***ing census, in 2 Samuel 24, who David unsuccessfully pled, for? A few chapters after he pled, for the life of Bathsheba's INFANT son - who passed away, by implied curse, over an entire, d&mn week? How - heroic, that was? How... merciful. Now - go and fulfil John 14:13, maybe, thanks? As Augustine, Luther, Calvin, and Torque-freaking-mada, NEVER got asked to fulfil - or establish their, outward, credentials. And He chose to conceal Himself from humanity, by default. Nobody forced Him to. No angel got hidden from - even the nutty ones, suddenly unhappy or suicidally proud, in heaven. Nor making 'choices' to 'fall' an entire species under a 'glass darkly', and other things that eventually drag Romans 1:20 (which FAILED oftentime, in the angelic realm, too) into being a ropey, incomplete mess - today. Thanks. Also, Matthew 17:20? Use it well - a lot of starving Africans, might benefit. Just stop coasting, though. All of your querulously, schisming, squabbling myriad selves. Seeking tax exemption, and then political leverage, and media ones - too. Also, saving a narrow pathed, predestinated group of not 'natural men' isn't necessarily fully impressive. Maybe also intervene on blood libels, Inquisitions, and slave trades - next time. Or else maybe people might think gathering wood on Sabbath, or hiding loot, is more 'detestable' on the cosmic scale, say. As they got direct divine attention - seemingly. And clear communication (an increasing, rarity)

a bad church. You are depriving youself of a love reationship. He truly did die for you. You need spiritual eyes. 😊 Jesus said, You must be born again. John 3:3-8. "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of flesh is flesh, and that which is born of Spirit is spirit." Verses 3:5-6. Born again is regeneration. Noah Webster 1828 Dictionary online. 'Regeneration means; Reproduction, the act of producing anew. In theology, New birth by the grace of God, that change by which the will and natural enmity of man to God and his law are subdued, and a principle of supreme love to God and his law, or holy affections, are implanted in the heart.' Implanted. Humbling isn't it. We cannot do that. So who does God look to? the humble and contrite ones. Psalm 34:18 and Isaiah 57:15. Ask God to send the Holy Spirit to you, Luke 11:13. He will bring your sins to mind. As he does ask Jesus to forgive you. This will be painful, PRIDE HATES IT. When you see your desperate need (Jeremish 17:9) for a Saviour, call out to Jesus to save you. He came to save sinners. Then do as the risen Jesus commanded, be baptized. Matthew 28:18-20, in the water of repentance Mark 1:1-5, Matthew 3:6. Calling on the name of the Lord, Romans 10:9-13. How? As Peter preached Acts 2:21, 38 and as Paul did, Acts 22:16, Acts 19:1-5. Think on Mark 16:16, 2 Peter 3:9, Romans 6:3-11, 1 Corinthians 12:13 and Colossians 2:6-15. When He has regenerated you, you will desire Him. Read His inspired word, the Authorized Version, the King James Bible. The Spirit of truth will lead you into all truth. His word strengthens, washes (as does His powerful blood). His word reads you Hebrews 4:12. Daily bible reading and prayer is essential in building on the foundation which is Christ Jesus. PS. The other apostles were already baptized, they baptized others. John 4:1-2. Read His preserved word, the Authorized Version later called the King James Bible.

during a church service i attended when i was still pretty young, the sermon included the topic of inherited sin. i learned that my parents had to sin to make me, and that meant that i was born as a sinner. on the car ride home, i asked my parents about heaven and hell. their answers for what it would be like were contradictory and unsatisfying. i asked how long forever was, and they told me that it was a greater length of time than i could ever imagine or comprehend. then i asked, "so i'm going to suffer forever after i die because you had to sin to make me?" and my parents said, "maybe. god has already decided who's going to heaven and who's going to hell." i asked how he determined who went to hell, who went to heaven, and they told me it was pretty much just up to god's will, that it didn't matter how good or bad a person was, and that i wouldn't know where i would end up until i was facing my judgement. my mom told me that she wouldn't be able to miss me if she went to heaven and i went to hell, because she would be too wrapped up in the praise and worship of god, and said god took away all pain and suffering, including the pain of mourning or missing someone important. "you'd let god send me to hell?" i asked. "if it's his will, i can't stop him." in one conversation, i figured out that their god was a monster, and i was too old to believe in monsters anymore

In response, there are several things you mentioned: 1) if it was “all fear and guilt” for you, then I’m sorry but that means you’ve failed to grasp the heart and meaning of the gospel. 2) Your mention of heart and hell in the same sentence is clear evidence that you have not understood what Jesus of the gospels is all about. 3) Fear is a real and legitimate experience - not a dirty word. If you can’t deal with fear you are hiding from reality. As a human you have to have a viable and existential answer to fear. If fear is the only thought that comes to you in reading the gospel (if you ever have), then it’s gone completely over your head. 4) For you to write what you have written it means you are unaware of the the experience of receiving the overwhelming love of Christ…..something that happened to me at age 24.

Many of them use fear of god, fear of judgement, fear of devil, fear of demons, fear of eternal torture, fear of death to make people believe and keep them believing. If you didn't have the fear of god put into you, consider yourself lucky. Guilt... Think about a church that tells people sex is sin, when people are naturally sexual beings, or one that says gay is evil and wrong and sinful and you'll go to hell for it what do you think that does to a gay kid or a trans kid? Not all churches are the peace and love and fluff experience you seem to come from, think about the vast difference between the god of the old testament and the jesus of the new testament and that both are supposed to be two parts of the same being, that is how much this religion varies from a wrath of god religion to a peace love and turn the other cheek religion. THIS is the essence of something I have been trying to say to people for years. A Tri-omni god creates the preconditions for what sin is and how it is forgiven...so that god could decide how forgiveness is earned. It falls apart right there. One of the most shocking things (by the lights of the people I was talking to) I ever said to my church before I left was that I didn't want someone else to be responsible for my mistakes; I was comfortable being held to account myself for anything I did. I have never done anything so awful I felt like a just god would condemn me forever for it. I can't wrap my head around the idea that any transgression, no matter how minor is a "stench in the nostril of the lord" equal to murder. It doesn't work. Now, I just go with this: “Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.” - Marcus Aurelius.

You are responsible for your mistakes. You’re responsible for bringing them before the one who is completely good. Who is the foundation for all moral values by which we can say this is wrong and this is right. Before the one who is morally perfect. The creator of all things. Wrong has no place with right. Evil has no place with good. Sin has no place with God. It is an impossibility for a sinful(evil/wrong behaviour) being to be with God(complete goodness) for eternity. Sin needs to be removed for that being to be with God. But we are fallible and finite beings incapable of achieving moral perfection on our own - as to atone for ourselves in such a way to be made right with God. This is why Jesus came. To do what we couldn’t, so that by simply trusting in him we could be made right with God. He came, he died, and he was raised. There is no other name by which you can be saved.

@@blacksheep2409 it's is kind of saddening that the battle for more and just moral values only started when religion started to loose it's firm grip. And only then with lots of resistance from the religious. Slavery is one of the few exceptions where a niche christian group: Quakers played a major role. But still many christians come up to make excuses for it nowadays. And some even go through the length to say it was good actually. Is that God's morality that he perfectly bestows on humans? It's also amazing that the omnipotent all knowing God created us perfectly in a perfect setting, but that first Satan rebels to then later manipulate humans. But for that Satan needed an accesspoint, which is the test that God set up: Tree of Knowledge with it's fruit. God though knew all that before creating the first physical or metaphysical thing. Still he goes through with that and punishes all human beings. From there he creates a book that everybody reads differently, but he will punish the ones reading it wrong. This same God created us as such that we can develop methods and abilities to understand nature. And from there, the more we understand it, the less the stories we are thaught about creation don't seem to pan out. It's a God that hides perfectly. And the more we look, the less there is, but he will punish us for that, because we should blindly believe one interpretation of his work?

So if you end up in hell after all my warnings, and me wanting to save you, it'll be of your own free will, that you went there. I didn't send you there, you choose to go there on your own. That's because false religions come from man and from Satan. Christianity is not a religion, it is a change in a person brought about by spiritual rebirth from God, hence the name "born again Christian." A "CHRIST" ian is a person who has been spiritually born again by God sending the Holy Spirit to dwell within them from the moment that they honestly accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, who loves Jesus Christ and believes the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the Holy Bible and has accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior Who died and resurrected to pay for their sins for them, and tries to imitate Jesus in their life, pure and simple with no religion in the way. @@jezebelvibesThink about it. When we look at nature, we see birds making nests and people building houses. If we say the sun and the moon exist naturally, it is like saying birds don't make nests, they exist naturally, and people don't build houses, they exist naturally. So you realize that someone created the sun and the moon, right? Think about it. Humans can easily make bird nests, but birds cannot make houses. Because humans are a higher species than birds. Likewise, humans cannot create the sun and the earth, but God can easily create them because God is many times higher than us. Do you understand? So when you are sick, God can heal you easily because God created man in the first place, the important thing is that you pray to God so that God can heal you. Just like when you make a house, when you don't like that house, you can easily destroy it and repair it. Do you understand? You are a human so you are not qualified to know who created God because only God knows internally. If God gave you, you would know. Just like birds or other animals are not qualified to know who gave birth to you because the limits of understanding of each species are different. When God created all things including the sun, moon, animals and plants, God also created the laws that operate them. For example, when the sun and moon were created to revolve around each other, gravity came into play. For humans and animals, when you eat, you will be full. If you do not eat, you will be hungry. If you do not drink, you will be thirsty. This is what Christianity calls the law of sowing and reaping. Buddhism calls it the law of cause and effect.

Questioning is considered a not so good thing because you're questioning an all knowing super wise being and by doing so you expect to understand what he'll say, second, to put someone who has authority over us under question doesn't seem like a sign of respect towards his leadership...but God is questioned multiple times in the bible and in some he responds through signs and in others by wisdom, Job is an example.

I recall going to sunday school with my aunt, uncle and cousin whilst I was staying with them. I wasn't raised religious and was always encouraged by my parents to ask questions if I didn't understand something growing up. I was ten years old the first (and only) time I attended Sunday school. It all seems baffling and illogical so naturally I wanted to ask questions about what was being taught. Within 10 minutes, I was asked to stop asking so many questions (I was curious but polite and respectful at all times and raised my hand until I was prompted to ask) and I was moved to another adjacent room and given some colouring books and crayons to use whilst they finished up with the other kids. You put into words exactly what I've been thinking for a while. But here's another layer for me personally. About 6 years ago, I left a 12 year abusive relationship with a man who was very manipulative, controlling, and psychologically abusive among other things. As I have reflected on my faith in the past few years, the sad thing that has stood out to me is that the Christian God sounds so much like my abuser. For years and years, I poured out all of myself for him thinking that if I loved him enough and didn't make "mistakes, he would treat me with love, respect and compassion. But I was punished constantly, and for typical human errors not any grand offenses (e.g. forgetting my cellphone at home, taking too long to drive home because I didn't take the route he suggested and ran into traffic). I eventually left because I realized I deserved better and there was nothing I could do to be good enough. I also began to reject the idea that he pushed that I was a terrible person. I now see parallels with God-- I ask why he sets us up for failure? Is it a sadistic game? What a human-like trait... If there is a loving God, I don't think humans have this explanation of him right. And if God is really like this, I feel like I should not worship him. He is cruel and too much like the worst humans. But ultimately, I don't believe there is a God now. I think this is just a manipulation tactic humans developed. There are also many religious leaders just like my abuser as well...

I was scared and confused as a 10 year old when a friend told me I needed to be saved. I then prayed the "sinners prayer" and felt nothing... It all felt like pretending from then on. It took until I took a six week "Hearing God" course through our church when I was 40 years old to realize maybe it wasn't me. Even if I hadn't given God everything I could before, during that course I poured my heart and soul in and came back with nothing. Until then I had blamed myself that God wasn't showing up and then I started to wonder if it was real at all. It has been a beautiful yet very difficult journey to get my life back. Thanks Kristi for sharing your insight and wisdom.

@@kayas1fangirl837 Never heard someone's testimony whence they say that THEY LEFT CHRISTIANTY. It is always have been about catholic religion from which they left and not a CHRISTIANTY. Every soul who have come out with "Why I Left Christianity" ends up speaking about catholic religion. And souls know it and understand it that: Christianity is found only in the BIBLE, as a soul takes a bible, sits down and reads it and then start studying it in order to understand it, or we end up misreading the whole bible. Coming to repentance and born again is each soul`s individual CONSCIOUS decision, which child (0 - 20 years) cannot do. It is the CONSCIOUS decision for the adults. No child goes to hell to burn, GOD is not unjust, HE IS JUST JUDGE. Hell fire waits us when we being adults and remain sinners. The keys to understand the BIBLE are: - hunger for truth - THE COMFORTER. Christians are expected to live out from the BABYLON and expose the wicked (masons and their death club, freemasonry), yet all of your stories are about being in the Babylon, and very deeply in. And as far as it sound, none of you left CHRISTIANTY, but all of you left catholic religion. Wise move. Now i, others and yourself can only pray that you`ll end up finding and understanding the real CHRISTIANITY.

@@harrisontaylor3751 that's exactly what being sentenced entails. The alleged perpetrator of a crime, when convicted of said crime, pays a fine, performs community service, serves a jail sentence, or is executed by the state. However, the substitutional atonement offered by Christianity ⁉️ Try that in a court of law. If the penalty is a fine, the court doesn't care where the payment comes from. If it's community service, you might be able to perform it on someone else's behalf if they're not checking identification. Jail sentence or execution, though? Sorry not sorry Jesus, you can't take someone else's place and why would you even want to? For violent offenders such as r@pists and murderers, it leaves them free to continue committing such crimes and it leaves society at their mercy. And, since they've accepted Jesus' offer to take their sins, their crimes, onto his unblemished shoulders, they can continue committing such crimes with a get out of jail free card. And the victims of the crimes get nothing. Even if they also follow Jesus, He not only doesn't prevent them from being r@ped and/or murdered, he might condemn them to Hell for a simple lie that they didn't have time to atone for, while the criminal is free to continue hurting more people *and* might still end up in Heaven. It's also possible that the victims end up in Heaven with their attacker, but what kind of heaven is that?

@kendalbrenneman Yes, I considered other beliefes, but they are all work based and mythical. No personal relationship with The Creator, just religions that tell you to be good. @@JD-gw3fp I'm assuming you're saying I'm one of those people with a "liberal" mind? Was I liberal all throughout the over 30 years I was a Christian, or did it change at some point? Because honestly, I can't really tell you. I was always curious, always wanted to learn, read the Bible constantly, studied it, but at the same time, I was indoctrinated into the beliefs of those around me and was a very closed-minded person in a lot of ways. I think there was a lot of conflict between what I believed was right and what I was being told was right. Sadly, I am still a slave to the wrong things I was taught, since they were taught to me so young. I wish I could finally break 100% free of it. Anyway the Jesus belief with the blood magic is also mythical, and illogical to boot. Christians talk about taking responsibility for your actions, justice, etc., but by believing in this blood sacrifice, they are not actually taking any responsibility for themselves, and I think this is a terrible way to live. Other religions generally encourage people to take responsibility for their own actions. I don't know what other religions you're talking about that "just tell you to be good."
@JD-gw3fp
@JD-gw3fp Жыл бұрын
@@kendalbrenneman I understand your perspective. Our past tends to lead us to those feelings we experienced. I get it. I do. If you think God is taking responsibility for you, and those who believe, you would be correct. We spiritually are free from the bondage of pain we have caused or has happened to us. In flesh, possibly not. Responsibility is journey to find for many, including myself. So I won't try to project my personal experience with God to try and corral you back in 'the church'. But if God is who you read about, are you shocked that He wouldn't reach out through His believers? To answer your claim about other religions and what good deeds they do, I agree. They can do many great things, it can be fulfilling to offer goodness to those who need it. But one thing religions do not offer me is a relationship with The Creator. I do not have a religion with my mother, brother, sister, but a relationship. Why would I not have one with The Father? If you read The Bible. Great! The whole thing, even BETTER! I Pray you open it when you truly need it. It is alive and well when your spirit is asking.

Since I was little, growing up in the evangelical church, now atheist, I always asked, “what is the point of blood shed in the forgiveness of sins?” I got so many different answers that like you said, were thought stopping on my logical track. I’m glad I watched this completely logical video but wish I had watched it when I had questions. Christianity is a mass cult. They don’t think it is because it’s so massive. The definition of delusion excludes religion…why though? Even though beliefs are instilled in a lot of Christians since childhood, there are a lot of things that are crazy that I continued to believe in. I was delusional. Delusion is defined: a false belief or judgment about external reality, held despite incontrovertible evidence to the contrary. There is incontrovertible evidence against Christianity and every other religion. One will claim that faith isn’t a delusion. But those same people claim to “BELIEVE” in all of this. There’s a plethora of evidence against Christianity that these people believe in. The DSM doesn’t count belief in a religion a delusion. That’s because “When beliefs are shared by others, the idiosyncratic can become normalized.” I think that if these people aren’t presented with the evidence then yes, they aren’t delusional. But if they are presented with undeniable evidence, then they’re delusional if they keep believing. Christianity is tricky though. They’ll tell you to keep faith (keep believing) no matter what and that the devil is going to tempt them to not believe. Just another manipulative tool by Christians.

The funny thing is, Christians have been claiming for decades that "da gays" strong-armed the American Psychological Association into removing homosexuality from the list of mental illnesses. Meanwhile, religious people weirdly have this social-science privilege where their religious delusions automatically get removed from the list of mental illnesses just because religion is believed by too many people to be considered a delusion or mental illness. You need to understand that death means separation. Sin brings separation. If you are in a relationship and you sin against it, the logical course is to create a gap, a distance. Just if this happens between you and God, you will die. Not because He wants to kill you, but because He will not force you to live with Him, and He is Life Itself, so if you separate from Him, you will just die (first spiritually). Now love, which is holiness, causes the opposite. It creates unity. The more you love the closer you become. To a point where 2 may be considered 1. This is naturally seen in society. Husband and wife, family, neighborhood, city, country, and so on. Now, if you love Jesus, which is God's Word, you become one with Him, by becoming one with Him, you will share fates, so the death and damnation of Jesus will count as your own, so you will not have to die and be condemned anymore. This is why the Bible pictures a relationship of husband and wife between Jesus Christ and the church. You "marry" God so that you won't be ever separated from Life.

It is true you have to make a lot of sacrifices to be a true follower. I'm not sure if that's what you mean by killing parts of yourself. I'm finding out that parts of myself just die on their own as I get older anyway since I'm mortal. Once I hit about 38 years old all kinds of stuff just started going wrong. And once one thing heals another thing seems to break. My stomach mostly has been a whole host of problems. Made me have to give up a lot of food that I typically enjoy. I hate to think of what I'll be like in 20 years if I'm having this much trouble already. But at least I survived testicular cancer in my mid 20's. That alone gave me an extra 20 years I wouldn't have otherwise had. I will say I don't regret a second I spent reading the book of Proverbs or studying mathematics. But I do regret every second I spent looking at adult websites, which I did from when I was age 18 to 28. That was a horrendous waste of time that did nothing but make me a worse person.

It's Jesus who says, "if your eye would sin (lead you to error), better to pluck it out than the whole body be damned." Which is to say, we have to correct errors or our errors will cause us to suffer. It's not complicated. It's part of his (and the Bible more broadly) repeated theme of learning judgement and acting wisely.

@@sulas548 we have various types of evidence for biblical events, if anyone is interested (read on) hell was never meant for us, my fellow youtube user. it was for the devil and his squad, and God gave us the Way out of there since we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. God knew we were wack, but He decided He was still come down and help us, despite our unfaithfulness. most relationships (like friendships, romantic relationships) aren't like this. Very few, but not a whole lot. religion (Christianity) is just a relationship with God along with loving others (see james 1:27) also, we have various types of evidence that backs up the Bible. Here's one example: Scientists have discovered that the earth "skipped" a day. The Bible explains how that happened. In the book of Joshua, Joshua asked the sun to stop so he and the Israelites could defeat their enemies. Then in 2 Kings, King Hezekiah learned he was dying, and pleaded to God to not let him die. God sent a prophet to king hezekiah who said hezekiah would live. Hezekiah wanted a sign, and that would be for the sun to defy the law of inertia and go back 10 degrees. NASA confirmed it and did the math (look it up for more info). We also found Jesus' blood on the Ark of the Covenant which had 23 x chromosomes and 1 Y chromosome. This shows that He was born of a virgin (Mary) and God the Father is His Father. The Holy Spirit exists. I was a slave to s3xual sin for 7-ish d@mn years. Finally at 16, God freed me. Also, look up John Gabbana's (boonk gang) testimony. Dude did a lot of wacky stuff. He's changed now. also, the soul exists. someone i know (i won't say who- privacy reasons) saw their soul leaving their body. like pulling off a band-aid, except it doesn't hurt. Here’s the physical evidence of Jesus and His Resurrection: 1) No persecution would have started if He hadn’t come back (the disciples thought Jesus would never resurrect) 2) The Roman soldiers would have paid with their lives if they failed at their jobs 3) there was a 2-4 ton rock that 11-12 guys would have to move (they didn’t have any help. Everyone said “crucify Him”) major L to those opposed to Jesus 4) there was a Roman seal which was a metal pin that sealed the tomb stone 5) Stealing the Jesus’s body isn’t something the disciples would do (besides Judas. Although he hung himself after feeling remorse for betraying Jesus). 6) the disciples wouldn’t die for what they knew would be a lie. (The lie being Jesus never made the ultimate comeback) faith and reason, people hit me up to learn more about how science proves the Bible or just about God in general. thanks for reading

The Ark was never found because it never existed in the first place. Where do you find this nonsense? 3. You believing the holy spirt exists does NOT make it true, it is just your opinion same goes for the soul. As for your list from the Bible. Before you can claim truth to any of the above you will need to demonstrate that the Bible can be trusted to be accurate. Can you do that? Don't use the book to prove the book. God in a nutshell: Here is how this whole system works: Cash, checks, jewelry, gold teeth etc are collected on Sunday during the service. Right after the service, the pastor goes to a room in the back of the sanctuary. He grabs all the money, checks jewelry and gold teeth that were collected, throws everything up in the air, and says: dear God, whatever you catch is yours, whatever falls down is mine.

Kristi... I think your videos are great... and I want to applaud the way you state things so clearly and directly. I was raised in a non-religious family so I've always considered Christianity to be "one of many creation myths". However, as I've become aware of how many people actually believe it to be true, the way I've self-identified has drifted from "agnostic" to "atheist". (I won't claim to know for an absolute fact that no god of any sort can possibly exist but the God of the Bible makes no sense and has no evidence.) That said... I've only seen a few of your videos so far but what you've said agrees entirely with my observations. And, likewise, the "arguments" put forth by apologists seem to me to make very little sense. On the subject of free will: Even assuming that we have "free will", and "the right to choose", and so "have the ABILITY to choose evil"... Assuming that we were designed with reasonably good judgment, and were shown all the evidence, WE WOULD NEVER CHOOSE EVIL. (And being created with poor judgment, or placed in a world where the proper choice wasn't obvious, are both the fault of an imperfect creator.) My favorite part of the fairy tale is the part where "God created angels as perfect beings, with no free will, and no human flaws". And his best and smartest angel was Lucifer... who promptly got bored, and staged a revolt, taking half of the angels with him... So.... Did God screw up big time when he created Lucifer? Or was Lucifer RIGHT and God wasn't worth following? I especially like Epicurus' quote on the problem of evil: “Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?” ― Epicurus

Assuming that we were designed with reasonably good judgment, and were shown all the evidence, WE WOULD NEVER CHOOSE EVIL. (And being created with poor judgment, or placed in a world where the proper choice wasn't obvious, are both the fault of an imperfect creator.)" On that topic, whenever anyone brings up evil, Christians always say "God gave us free will!" as if that justified it. Free will is simply the capacity to make choices, it has nothing to do with evil. My choices every day aren't to give a homeless man money or to kill them, cut out their intestines, and bathe in their blood. The fact that I'm even able to think of the latter as part of an example is, if God existed, the evil that He deliberately put in humanity was what caused such a thought. He could easily have made humanity lack evil and still have free will. That's before we even get into the evil that has nothing to do with any human action. How many people die from hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, and so forth every single day somewhere in the world? That's an evil God himself is causing. "My favorite part of the fairy tale is the part where "God created angels as perfect beings, with no free will, and no human flaws". And his best and smartest angel was Lucifer... who promptly got bored, and staged a revolt, taking half of the angels with him... So.... Did God screw up big time when he created Lucifer? Or was Lucifer RIGHT and God wasn't worth following?" The hilarity of the contradictory nature of the very idea of Lucifer is incredible. By the own admission of religious people God is a perfect being and thus can't make mistakes... and yet He created a being which rebelled against Him and set up shop in Hell to torture people for all eternity. Even if he did somehow make a mistake, He as God could wipe Lucifer and all the fallen angels out of existence, removed Hell, and sent all the damned to Heaven whether they sinned or not with a thought and could still do so at any time, and yet He apparently didn't. It's almost as if God is an evil sadistic bastard that wanted all this to happen so He'd have an excuse to torment humanity.

You are amazing Kristi thank you for all of your messages. I grew up with guilt and fear. To not share the truth was also a sin (Jonah). Sharing meant that people didn't like you and tortured you for being different. If you were part of the world the world would love you but because his kingdom was no part of the world then they would despise you. So if you were hated for your faith that was a good thing. Except that it felt bad. Then you grow up a bit and start having bad thoughts and thinking that you couldn't live up to God's standards and in truth you didn't really want to. So God will get you in Armageddon and you would be destroyed forever. Finding anything else to believe in was preferable to that horrible philosophy but for so long inside you still feel it's the truth because that's what they all told you. I think the contortions that you have to put your brain through to make all of these things work is a horrible thing for anybody. Some religions are worse than others but the guilt is common to most Christians except maybe for those that think once they've accepted Jesus and are saved maybe they don't need guilt any more. Or their brains turn into mush and they stop thinking about anything except what the pastor or someone in the church tells them the truth is. God (Jesus) loves you but if you don't accept him then forget about it. I eventually grew past it mostly with science and facts. A lot of the stories in the bible do not match physical evidence or even possibilities. A simple miracle in the bible like having the sun stand still doesn't begin to explain the complexity of actually having that happen. Imagine driving into a concrete barrier at 1600 km/h (Earth's rotational speed at the equator). It would be hard on most life for that to happen. Then it starts up again. Or the flood (where did all the water go?). Or many other stories. Or maybe just simple logic. We have children and we love them. If they do something wrong we try to guide them and help them but in no case would we ever consider torturing them forever or killing them unless we were psychotic. If God is perfect and good shouldn't he be even less likely to want to hurt us or cause us harm no matter what we did?

I think the saddest thing is that there are people who understand the nonsense but perpetuate it regardless because there will always be someone who buys it. Religion is a double edged sword. It can give you hope and a sense of belonging but these things are all very conditional on unquestioning faith. Humanity asks questions by nature and to restrict that brings spiritual death. If the tree of life and tree of knowledge of good and evil were real, humanity should have learned their lesson already. It's better to live and question than abide by restrictive black and white ideologies.
