as a German person living in japan, i think public awareness is also a big problem because they don't educate about that matter as in Germany. like all we learn in history lessons is " ITS OUR FAULT" it's burned so hard in our brain that we are almost lie it's MY fault. (which is not true either) but we freak out whenever we sew anything close to nazi sign. but Japanese people wonder then why. You forgot NCT and WayV's Ten in SM's supergroup rumor. And it's not much of an age difference, isn't Kai and Taemin the same year in Korean years? Then Taeyong is 95, Ten is 96, Lucas and Mark 99. There is a much huger age difference within EXO and NCT. But there is a huge, huge difference in experience, Taemin debuting with SHINee in 2008 and Lucas first with NCT U boss in 2018.

I hope Ten is in it also, some reports list him some don’t. I would really like to see his interaction with Baekhyun in particular since they are both so extra. I’m not sure about the Korean age thing (it really confuses me) but along with what you said Baekhyun is 92, Taemin is 93, and Kai is 94. The thing is 2 or 3 (if it includes Ten, fingers crossed) of the members aren’t Korean so they don’t have to serve, so the age difference only matters between the 4 oldest which is 3 years. The great thing about this group is that it will have 2 or 3 (again fingers crossed) English speakers, at least great as far as a lot of international fans are concerned. We will find out tomorrow what is going on though.

What saddens me in this Korea vs. Japan's situation is that the koreans boycotting Japan internally will also harm fellow koreans workers and businesses. I mean, for example, if a shop in Seoul like Uniqlo has a huge financial loss, it maybe will be forced to fire some workers to compensate for that loss. And at the end, who will suffer are the korean workers being laid off. The boycott may be targeting Japan, but it will also affect a lot of koreans workers, shop owners, etc, who are not to blame and shouldn't take the fall because of the political dispute between the two countries.

The channel Asian Boss spoke to people in Korea and Japan and you can see the difference on there, the younger Japanese public generally seem unaware of the war crimes that were committed in the past by their country and seem to be under the impression it's Korea being petty about the past. While as on the Korean side everything people were saying was pretty consistent. Sadly it's blatantly obvious younger Japanese people aren't being told the true history...

Not surprised! I live in America and the school system doesn't teach about the atrocities that we've done (slavery, Japanese internment camps, etc). If they do it's often glossed over. I learned more details when I went to college and later read about it for myself. Japan is saving face by not properly educating their nation but this doesn't help solve their problem or improve relationships with Korea. I believe if the Japanese youth were more educated that they would want to do the right thing and wouldn't feel the Korean people are being petty. BTW, I also watch those episodes of Asian Boss.

The Japanese opinions was very interesting to see, especially when they asked people of different age. They all acknowledged that Japan did was wrong but feel that Korea wants too much. To them they have apologised, and that they are being petty. Both countries think this will effect their relationship between the two countries will get worse. If not resolved soon.

This is actually a very recent thing that caused so much pain and suffering and the only reason it isn’t still more present is that somehow Korea managed to develop exponentially despite everything. There are people STILL ALIVE suffering directly from this who never got anything and worse than all, are continuously told they are lying or changing the truth. When you see a nation that did to yours the equivalent to the holocaust and vehemently deny or ignore it, refusing to take ownership of what ACTUALLY HAPPENED and not feel like it is the governments DUTY to payback in words and deeds and educate the future generations then Koreans are 100% in the right to feel the way they do and demand justice. Shame on Japan, a nation that prides itself on values such honour and wisdom for acting so disgracefully and ignorantly. I am half Portuguese, half Brazilian. Lots of Brazilian people still blame Portugal for things such as slavery, taking all the gold, etc. That was centuries ago, Portugal has never denied their colonial past and has done it’s part to amend. No one directly affected this is alive. It is in the past. This, however, is not and I damn well support Korea in their plight for justice and acknowledgement for what was done for them (as is the case with other Asian nations and their past with Japan). Despicable attitude from the Japanese government and honestly from a lot of the population too.

The difference between a concept group and a unit is that, unit normally are made with people of the same group, like orange caramel, TTS, Nct (millions of unit's)..., And this "concept group" is made from Idols of differents group as an example the Seulgi x Chungha x Soyeon x Sbin, or Solar x Luna x Hani.

Entertainment companies work with Dispatch, before releasing the “dating scandal” they ask the company (especially BIG3) so the companies can pay to choose the moment to release the info. They need to have a good relationship with entertainment companies since Dispatch get to use their idols for special photoshoot, behind the scenes, videos promotions.... Dispatch cannot mess up their relationship with entertainment companies because they need them. That’s why all those dating scandal always came at the “right time” ex: • Lee Kwangsoo and Lee Sunbin beat Dispatch and revealed their relationship by themselves, they were supposed to be the special couple for 1/1 so Dispatch had to revealed Kai & Jennie. • We can think that it was bad timing for YG because of Jennie solo but that actually help the hype around her and cover her “lazy scandal”. • Kai & Jennie breakup to cover Seungri scandal, YG is behind it. • Then now Daniel & Jihyo is revealed because Daniel position is finally stable and TWICE don’t promote now. JYP still don’t like the fact that his artists date because it became complicated for the artist and the stock degrease but he knows that it will be known so better now. Dispatch already have all those scandal but wait the green light by the companies, in this case Daniel, who can handle a “dating scandal” now that he’s CEO and start solo.

N🛑 banner design is clever, it reminds me of how Japanese flags were turned into Taegukgi during the fight for freedom against Japan. SM, lol no label has been desperate enough to to try it before is the fact. Shares are down, people are unsatisfied, fans want proper representation in the individual groups, so SM decides to ignore it all and instead take the most popular ones amongst non fandom fans and make a group. Daniel x Jihyo is the best thing ever and Daniel handled it well in his letter, by not apologising, as they’re humans and don’t need to apologise for dating. Lol of course there’s govt involvement, the govt fathered the Hallyu wave to help the country and have strong links with the industry.

I agree with most of your points. To add on to the sm one tho, from my experience being an sm group stan for most of my life, I'm just mad at them now. It took them 3 attempts to make the nct concept work (suju and exo being the Guinea pigs) and suddenly they think it can work between groups. Now I will point out sm has subunits like sm the ballad, sm the performance, and younique unit which never really took off and maybe even a revival of those would've made the news of this "new super group" more common place and not weird (in the way that it's just being thrown out there to new stans that probably don't know the past units existed so they're taken aback.) But also, recently sm did one thing that made most 2nd gen girl group stans mad, them not really acknowledging Girls' Generation's 12th anniversary. I get that they may just be busy focusing on their current issues, but they just seemed to throw away one of the groups that they practically milked profits from in the early years in favor for these fan favorite idols that can cover a large spectrum of fanbases from across the world. I can understand them wanting to make a group that is just unbeatable, but the likelyhood of it being a success is up in the air because it's just not common and for good reason. @@Takerz13 totally agree. i don't remember where i heard this but for the last few months ballad singers tend to do well on digital sales. look at paul kim he got daesang at genie ( a digital music site) during mgma awards. sm should focus on that they have lots of good vocalist.

@@justlooking7878 It's actually pretty insane looking at the Korean digital charts lately. On Gaon this week, the top 8 songs are ballads. For 3 months, the #1 weekly song has always been a ballad (many different ballads). Usually girl groups dominate the summer, so this is strange.

But that was a one-time project that only got made because it really was a extended CF for Hyundai - just 3 songs on the album, including BoA and Jessica. As a German I'd like to say something about the trade wars and your take on it. I honestly don't know that much about the ongoing conflict between Korea and Japan but I do believe that this is blown way out of proportion. By the way comparing it to the holocaust is a bit much in my opinion but if Koreans truly believe that I won't say anything about. Just for some context Germans generally have some days where they apologise and mourn the people that died due to the actions of our ancestors. We also have many memorials. Most of us are (99%) still have to live with consequences. We learn about the holocaust for about 3 whole years (in total) in school in different subjects like history, German, religion, etc. . Teachers are not allowed to say one good word about the holocaust (I think it's actually forbidden). We have verses in our national hymn that used to be sung during that time which are now forbidden as well (even though that's not by the law but only culturally). And signs and specific movements from that time are against the law and can be fined by the police. With all that said most Germans nowadays are not the ones that lived during the war. Most people think that it's not the current's generation's fault the war happened but it's our responsibility to make sure it never happens again. At the moment there is a movement saying that Germany should move on from it's guilt but that's a whole different story. Anyway my point is: You are blaming people that had nothing to do with it. You are hurting people that had nothing to with it. Not only is Korea making a bad move for their economy but I feel like someone who didn't live during that time cannot blame someone else who didn't. I don't know if it's a national pride thing but I do believe that it feels a little bit unreasonable. If you asked Japan to mourn the people that died and unsure that that kind of cruelty would never happen again, then yes I'm all for it. But blaming people who were never a part of it and being racist towards Japanese people (e.g. not allowing to go somewhere) is absolutely unacceptable. At this point it doesn't feel like Koreans want to their ancestors to be mourned and remembered in a respectful manner. It doesn't feel like they want justice. It feels like revenge.

I agree with you. The war is over for a long long time ago. It's time to move on. Korea should stop bring back this issue every year. Few months ago, Korea president asked for a compensation row over South Koreans forced to work in Japan’s factories when it occupied the Korean peninsula from 1910 to 1945. That lead to Japan action. Hope we can live in peace!

That last story about the two dating "scandals" was so interesting because there was a recent kdrama called WWW that touched on the idea of the government manipulating internet search terms in order to gain power or to distract people from government scandals. Nice to know that this is a topic that has penetrated the general public's consciousness and is being seriously debated, instead of never questioning the government. Plus, it's also really interesting to see the cultural difference between western attitudes towards artists dating and eastern attitudes towards artists dating. For example, in the U.S. an artists' agents or publicists manufacture dating scandals all the time to get more publicity because they are releasing new content or just because they want to remain relevant. But it seems like in Korea, idols have to remain pure and romantically unattached in order to maintain their popularity.

elemeno82002 actually it’s really nothing new. Governments use media and media companies all the time. Kpop is the biggest media in korea so theres really not much doubt there’s connections. The problem I have is how companies like that operate. Like it or not, believe it or not, a lot of relationships are staged, and given the fact it’s entertainment companies it’s SO easy to make it look real. So it’s a win all over the place except sans and idols/celebs involved. I honestly stop trusting really anything companies say and show after being in entertainment myself. Just crappy all around..

I sympathize with the Korean people that feel that Japan hasn't done enough or given a proper apology for their atrocities and occupation of Korea. The American government didn't issue an apology for slavery and racial segregation until 2008 on the floor of Congress. As a nation, we're still debating if ancestors of slaves should get some sort of reparations in 2019. The fight to correct the past is *always* a good fight and it's the right side of history to be on. I hope the Korean people get the justice they deserve and need to move forward to have a good relationship with Japan and its people. I feel these two nations should work together because they're neighbors and the threat they both face with North Korea nuclear testing.
