My jaw dropped when she said her father was paid 6 FIGURES for the birth of HER child, but refused to help with the $10k deductible and out of pocket hospital costs. What a disgusting human being. And I bet he made her feel guilty for asking for help. I don’t know how she’s still willing to communicate with him after everything she’s learned. You can tell Derrick is beyond over Jim Bob and would probably jump at the chance to go no contact. The fact that Derrick lost out on scholarships and grants to help pay for law school because Jim Bob was falsely reporting income for them is crazy. They lost out on job opportunities and got fined by the IRS. Then the mf has the NERVE to tell them that they should pray for forgiveness and make threats about cutting her out of a trust that was built with HER money?! I guarantee there’s no trust. And even if there is, it’s chump change compared to what he got paid. He needs to be investigated for the tax fraud.

I agree. Someone did it to Josh first before he did it to his sisters. He never would think of it otherwise. The demons pass through the @buse, and then the victim has to deal with it, either beating them or joining them. It's easier for women to fight it because they have maternal instincts. Men have more natural drive, so it's tougher for them. They need to be taught how to handle their urges, and its certainly not by pretending they don't exist. Making it taboo creates more problems, not less.

I knew it the minute I met him when I lived in Rogers, Arkansas back in 1996… I met him and Michelle and I think at the time they had four kids maybe five, can’t remember honestly… I had been invited to a “church service” by a new friend and they were there… They were friends of the person that had invited me. I met him and Michelle and the way she would just look at him like he was Jesus that walked on water disturbed me to my core… And when I shook that man’s hand, it was like shaking hands with the devil…. All I wanted to do was get the hell away from him… He just gave me the creeps in a way that I can only describe as having evil surround me… I got away from there and I never went back. I feel sorry for every single one of those kids… I’m glad Jinger and Jill got out from under his thumb!

Jill and Derek have not had total deliverance themselves yet. I went to a Bill Gothard seminar but that is where it stopped for me. By a miracle I never went on in Bill's homeschool and never did my twin brother. There are some of us that went to Bill's seminar but never got more involved in his ministry. I consider that Bill was false and didn't want to be more involved. We are now all seeing that it is the truth. Jill and Dereck are the same as Jim Bob yet, even Jill and Dereck need to come out of their false church yet.

TLC should be held legally liable for allowing the exploitation of each of the children involved. Jim Bob should also be sued for the exploitation. These were minor children who clearly had no legal representation to protect any aspect of their involvement.

Once those children reached adulthood then why weren't they being dealt with by TLC's attorneys or at least consulted with after everything had been given the green light....?! Especially when Jill and Jenna had their own spin-off, why didn't TLC's attorney's speak with them after or during speaking with Jim-Bob.....?! It's like Jim-Bob was in cahoots with someone at TLC, someone higher up that has some sort of authority in that company....!! I was raised in an extreme, radical IBLP/ATI/Southern Baptist nightmare. I’m the second oldest of 12. The abuse and brutality in that home was beyond horrific. I was always the one resisting the abuse, trying to get help, the “crazy one” who refused to be beaten into silence. We were so isolated we had zero contact with the outside world and my dad would take the phone off the wall when he left. It’s not like we knew anyone to call for help anyways. Jill, my advice to you is to read broadly, travel, and be patient with yourself. It’s like walking out of fog. And remember, Your voice and story does not belong to anyone but you. ❤

Jim bob had more anger at Jill for wearing pants and her piercing than he was of his son not only mol3sting his daughters and family friend, having a secret online Maddison account but also being sent to prison for engaging in and distribution of child corn! He was right there at every court date, wrote leniency letters, etc. To preserve whatever once of dignity he thought he son possessed Smh. Only good thing that came out of Jim's whole tlc shenanigans is that Jill finally found a man who will put her and the well being of their family first. Im so proud of the courage she has always shown in regards to creating her own lane. Jill and Derrick are my favorite couple along will Jinger and Jeremy. I wish them both well.

Jessa was also a victim, and it’s horrific that their abuser is literally in the room during the interview :( - this is a good example of how people can go through the same trauma and have completely different reactions. Jessa seems to show hers through indifference. I hope they both, as well as the other victims, have been in therapy to handle their trauma

Jessa was more then likely disassociating. At my boyfriends recent funeral my daughter started crying next to me but I was frozen and couldn't move my arms to comfort her. I've always said the same thing. I am in no way defending Josh when I say this. I'm saying it because of proven facts in other cases. I feel like Josh was abused as a child lie this by someone. I feel that way because of how all the abuse took place with his sister's then the abuse with the adult women. We have no clue what really truly happened in that household. That's so true. It can just happen. My mother thought she had dealt with her abuse, but then at 30, when I was born, it hit her and she had a complete mental break. I was born with a severe and rare disability and it hit her that she would need help from those around her to raise me and it triggered her distrust and fear of having to depend on others to help care for me and how vulnerable I would be. She said she started to feel uncomfortable with people she usually trusted even holding me. My grandma told me about taking me as an infant to visit her in the hospital because she couldn't function. It took until my teenage years for her to come out the other side and actually deal with her trauma. I'm my moms youngest, so it isn't like she didn't raise other kids before. Just something about it triggered her and she suffered with issues for almost two decades after.

I’m in disbelief that anybody could watch that clip and judge Jessa for not being comforting ???? It’s almost like not all victims look or behave the same. Jessa was not “cold” she was just collected which is I’m sure what she absorbed from “ever patient and gentle” Michelle. Jumping up and touching a crying person takes them out of their feelings. If you truly want to support someone sit there and be still. Agree or nod your head, maybe repeat a statement back to them but do not move, do not interrupt, do nothing to take a person out of their feelings. Feelings are a bodily experience. A person needs to allow a feeling to finish on its own naturally.

I will not lie, i watched the duggars, especially when my married was not doing well.q This being said, I always had money on Jessa being the one to go rogue in public, especially following the run after the "I do"s. I'm so happy Jill and Jinger have moved away from the iblp. Jill speaking out could not have been easy, and she has stood tall. Also, those SLAVE contracts could not been legal. 7 yrs or until we say it's over and you are signing for you and your children and future children, come on JB.

The part where she felt guilty for possibly not wanting more children after a uterine rupture sinks deep into my soul. I'm struggling with the same guilt after being raised in IBLP. I've given birth 4 times and have three living children. I almost died during one of the births. My husband approached me about possibly not having more because he's afraid of losing me or me not being able to recover well since every pregnancy and recovery has been wild despite me putting in every effort with diet, exercise, and advanced intervention. I was upset at him for a while. I reached a place of humility when I was honest to myself the reason I wanted more children was because of fear of judgement. Even though I've not been a part of IBLP for almost 10 years. It was just really hard getting to the place where I stopped judging myself to be a bad Christian because I wasn't going to have 6+ kids.(wildly I didn't hold other people to this standard) Maybe I might have one more child, but if I don't I'm so grateful to my husband for guiding me through and helping me to release myself from unnecessary guilt. just loving me for me and not just as a baby maker. (I do desperately love every one of my babies though and think they are an incredible blessing.)
