What a simp statement. Statistics don't gather themselves, people are involved, people can be biased, people can be paid to avoid or over rely on contributing factors, or skew statistics in other ways. Not to say that's all that happens, but pretending a statistic couldn't possibly be generated using a flawed process is naive.

@@carlosocatavious3363 how is that a “simp statement?” I don’t think you know what that word means. And yes, people can be biased, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the statistics they gather are. Are you arguing that the numbers are incorrect? @@joevarga5982 I'm not in disagreement with the guy actually. just so it's clear: he is making a direct link between inferred psychology, race, and statistics that support the psychology we all should be able to individually use about races. So.... whites have the overwhelming majority of wealth, according to statistics. Hence, the regulatory laws (not the crime laws, but the regular laws of just playing the game of life) are racist. Am I supposed to ignore those stats as an individual? Answer: f*ck the system and get out the game financially by all means possible...(I would then argue, that that is the reason many black young men take so many deranged chances criminally). So it's a circle. Laws are rigged for whites, blacks take chances. Both statistics show. I'm simply asking for a more comprehensive take on statistics. Quite obvious that Matt is cherry picking one stat, as though it exists on its own, on some island of unrelatedness to anything else. Same old trick. High resolution grammar when speaking about a topic (to sound smart and sharp) low resolution problem set (to act as if nothing else is there). They both racist.

2:33 You wouldn't fall for it? What facts? I'd hate to be duped by facts of life. This is the problem with liberals today; they let their feelings override their reason. Feelings that are given to them by the establishment, and the punishment for deviating from those feelings, are dolled out by their friends, other liberals, and social media. One of the reasons more women today are liberals than men is because they care way more about the way people view them and are far more accessible to groupthink in order not to be the ones that are ostracized.

In SOME situations - and this woman admits it - the physical characteristics (skin color included) of all the players involved come into play in the risk analysis. I'm a black woman and I can definitely admit that I feel fear when I see a black man who is dressed a certain way. The reality is there are a high number of black women who are attacked by black men but in most of those cases it was probably a personal relationship. But a couple months ago, I was almost randomly attacked by a man, but I was able to run to my car and get away. It was actually a homeless white man who appeared to have mental issues. Ever since that experience I've been scared of homeless white men. So now I'm scared of all men who look disheveled. I suppose at least I'm not being racist. I'm treating all homeless looking men as potential threats.

I had to wait for a bus in downtown Seattle after 10:00 at night. A huge black man stood behind me, but I didn’t feel nervous! He complemented my patriotic cowboy hat. When some roughly joking & teasing, younger black men came by, he stepped closer & gave them “a look.” They backed off & left me alone. I mentioned taking a bus that came to stops two blocks away & he told me “NO!” That there was going to be a gang gathering over there & it would be too dangerous. He lectured me about my being alone downtown that late at night. But I made it home just fine. IOW - there are sweet, thoughtful people out there. Don’t assume.

They're not "generalizations;" they're statistics. If I'm choosing sides for a basketball team, the likelihood based on evidence is that the better players will be black. Not all of them, and not all of the black players will even be good. But odds are a higher % will be good vs. the same % of any other racial group. There is nothing racist in noting patterns and interpreting stats. The numbers do not indict every single black person nor should they. They simply speak to probabilities.

I'm pretty sure it's not one in three women. That's a combination of statistics issues. As in, are they only referencing actual r***? Does the stat include also grabbing only, where the intended victim escaped? If the latter, the stat could be more accurate at perhaps 1 in 20. Is 1 in 3 calculated by averaging out the number across all women? There are stats where it's easier or more convenient to say "1 in 3," where the occurrence happened a certain number of times per group, but the victims have had the same crime committed against them repeatedly, and if the stat was written that way could hypothetically equal to (not correct math, though) "1 in 40 will be r**** on one occasion in a lifetime, and 10 of 25 will be r**** as many as 2 to 6 times over a lifetime."

A good person manages to maintain wisdom. You can’t tell anything about a person on the basis of their group identity, but yes, there are differences in group averages. So you have to watch your own biases and judge each person as an individual. I think what’s left out is the culture vs colour argument: if I saw a man (regardless of colour) wearing baggy pants and walking in an aggressive manner, I would be more cautious around that person, vs a man in a sharp suit or tailored clothing who was walking normally. A lot of it comes down to disposition/ body language.

This is a common problem you have when you abandon objective standards. Just because black people are more affected by bad laws that doesn’t mean they are being targeted. What you should look at is are any other ethnic groups being affected and by how much? Disproportionality doesn’t make a law racist in of itself. People are reading intent without looking at the whole board. Instead just consider that the law itself is bad and should be changed or gotten rid of just because it’s bad.

we all blame others and circumstances for many of our problems. however, most of our problems are our own doing. when you bring up factual stats that so obviously point to the reasons why certain folks have more negative outcomes, the left will immediately discredit those facts often calling the messenger a racist. when folks take responsibility for their actions and do the right things to make their outcome better, they normally do get better. however, pointing the finger will never solve a problem. I am in my mid-50s and since I can recall, the government and private institutions have been working overtime to help minorities. white folks are generally doing what they can to ensure all folks have equal opportunities. until minorities clean their side of the street, i does not matter how much cleaning white Americans do, the street will still be dirty.

Jillian, thanks for this interview. I am not sure if you noticed it, but you managed to get Matt Walsh to answer his film's question "Am I racist?" by admitting that yes, he is. This is the first definition that comes up when we Google "racist": "characterized by or showing prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized." Matt Walsh will deny he admitted to being racist, and he would disagree with the above definition, saying that racism needs to come from a place of hatred, which he does not have. Matt will instead call his beliefs "racial discrimination", a softer sounding word which is based on statistics and not on hate. The people in the film (that he makes fun of) would still call that racism, and they even admit to having their own racial biases, as we saw in the dinner scene. But here's the important part: It doesn't even matter what word we use (racism vs racial discrimination), because the central argument of the people in the film is that negative racial discrimination causes harm. And Walsh doesn't do anything to respond to that central point, and instead just distracts with semantics. Matt Walsh is one of the biggest (unknowing) advocates for affirmative action that I have ever heard, because he is correct that people make decisions based on probability. Meaning, if you belong to a group that has a higher probability of doing X, others are more likely to assume you will also do X, regardless of whether or not you ever have. For example, if you belong to a group that is more likely to drop out of college, administrators may assume that you too are more likely to drop out, regardless of if you would. Matt Walsh is (unknowingly) making a strong argument in favor of affirmative action here, because affirmative action helps to offset/cancel out discrimination based on probability biases that Matt Walsh admits are real.

Affirmative action is a more polite term for discrimination. Why are you in favor of discriminating against people based on skin color? And no, Walsh is advocating no such thing. He pointed out that the probability bias that exists stems from the behavior of individuals within a certain group. He also said that is not an indictment of every black person and that it's a horrible reality.

@terryroster
@terryroster 2 күн бұрын
@@AlexLekas_TakeOne Yes, do you know what offset means? Matt Walsh admits that he (and most people) have racial discrimination that is based on group statistics. So affirmative action offsets the biases that people like Matt admit to having, by adding bias in the other direction. The idea of affirmative action, when done correctly, is to have the biases cancel each other out. We aren't disagreeing.
@terryroster
@terryroster 2 күн бұрын
@@KK-pm7ud Is your point that men face discrimination in some jobs? Because I would agree to that, and would be open to affirmative action for men in those instances. (Such as the case with kindergarden teachers, for example.) However, we should note that these are often low paying jobs that men don't want anyways. For higher paying jobs, when there are men and women with identical credentials, the male candidate is generally favored because statistically women are more likely to leave work for their family/pregnancy. So this is a discriminatory hiring/promotion practice that Matt Walsh admits is real, and that could be offset by affirmative action.
