A lot of the best comedians have very tragic lives in general, or something in their past. I think that's partially what inspires them to make people laugh, it's they know the deepest pain, and laughter helps you get through, or at least get by. I've been through waaaaaaaaaay too much death and loss, and I can attest to the power of laughter and comedy helping bring balance.

People don't realize that a lot of bands, especially in metal, are older than the genres. The hyper-specific categories usually come later, and the bands that were there before get sorted into them. Thrash was an umbrella term for the more extreme types of metal for people not overly familiar with the scene, but many of whom still liked it.
