A lot of the best comedians have very tragic lives in general, or something in their past. I think that's partially what inspires them to make people laugh, it's they know the deepest pain, and laughter helps you get through, or at least get by. Thrash was an umbrella term for the more extreme types of metal for people not overly familiar with the scene, but many of whom still liked it.
