The 20 minute town hall meeting promos....4 or 5 people in the ring, all with mics, waiting for each other to say their scripted line so they can say their scripted line. It's also a shame they have the largest roster in the world between the two brands, yet you only see about half of that roster on TV each week. And please , no more McMahon family on TV. It's bad enough they've made Shane a tag champ and the "Best in the World"
@brianm28815 жыл бұрын
Everything about that show is so bland and sterilised. I'll give a perfect example of the contrast between 'now' and 'then'. When the Undertaker would come out during the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression eras, it'd be like 'OH GOD DAMN..... BUSINESS IS ABOUT TO PICK UP!!!' There'd be pyro bombs going off, the crowd would maintain a buzz right throughout the entrance, and J.R. would be commenting on the Undertaker and whatever feud he was involved in at the time during the entrance. He'd be putting the Undertaker and the program over. Well, that tapered off between 2004 to the last time he had a match. To the point where Undertaker's entrance is like a literal funeral procession. There is no crowd noise (at least none that comes across on the TV). It takes about ten minutes for him to get to the ring. The crowd sit on their hands. The commentators maintain a 'respectful silence', only very occasionally commenting things like, "The immortal Undertaker...' or maybe 'I have chills....'

The whole episode is gold and I wish more took the advice. Enzo was over because he could work the mic. The Rock, Cena, ELIAS, can work it. Jim can work it and I used to hate him for it. I find a lot of talent now are athletic as hell, but suck at promos. Great promos are money. Not only that, the start of the show is bang on. Comparing kayfabe and non Vince to Trump is perfect. @DemoSonicScreamer15 жыл бұрын
Oh man, I am glad to finally hear someone rail against modern tag wrestling. The sheer amount of illegal tags that aren't called such these days drives me insane. It isn't just WWE. WWE has this stuff occasionally. Jim ought to watch some NJPW and those tag matches would drive me totally up the wall. I'm even talking guys considered all time greats like Tanahashi. There was a recent match on AXS with Tana/Okada vs. Fale/White and I swear Tanahashi didn't make one legal tag the entire match. He always had both feet on the bottom rope, leaning into the ring, etc. That is not a legal tag. It was more glaring when he tagged Okada later and Okada was in perfectly legal position for his tag. So yes, both feet on the apron, one hand on the buckle/tag rope, other arm extended. Thank you! I'm also glad that someone else is frustrated with all the women's stuff. If I had to boil down the main two reasons for Raw's ratings downturn I would say #1 is putting the title constantly on an absentee Lesnar, but #2 would be way too many women's segments/matches, given entirely too much time.

Blackjack Mulligan shreads one of Flairs robes (actually that was the Sunday morning 12:30a.m. show WORLD WIDE or was it WIDE WORLD?). Yellow feathers filled the studio and I was captivated over a robe. Don't remember details like Mr. Cornette but that image ran on the shows introduction for at least a year. The briefcase of cash Flair offers Steamboat to aid him in his battle against The Andersons which eventually ends with Steamboat turned on and, of coarse, Steamboat had refused to take a penny. Paul Jones and his heel turn. Don't remember anyone else, maybe Baron Von Rashke, involved in the turn but it had such a bad feel to this young fan...my heel turn cherry was popped. Not relevant to topic but some wrestling memories.
