The way J.R. described this whole situation, he believed that Vince hired Bischoff and Heyman purely to be fall guys in case ratings dropped during his big TV deals with Fox and USA. If the ratings tanked, then Vince could blame things on the "need to restructure" to keep his deals alive. Of course, we all know that whatever ends up on TV is ultimately Vince's say-so.

@al5306
@al5306 4 жыл бұрын
Probably not. I think it's extremely childish to talk about someone that you don't know. You, and everyone here, don't know how things work behind-the-scenes. You don't know what's Vince's idea and what isn't. You can listen to people on podcasts theorize what may or may not be his idea, but you still don't know unless you're there. There's also a lot of factors that no one takes into consideration when it comes to how the shows are written. Did someone who's being pushed ask for time off for something personal? Did someone show up or call in sick? Did someone do something disrespectful publicly or behind-the-scenes and you're taking them off TV to punish them? Did you stop believing in someone you're pushing? Did someone else come along that you like better than the guy you're pushing? Did USA or FOX mandate something? Did advertisers express interest or disinterest in something or someone? All of these things happen on a regular basis over there. Not only do they have a ton of talent, but they have FIVE weekly wrestling shows to write for every single week of the year with no off time. I can't imagine what that workload looks like and neither can anyone here. This was lengthy, but it needed to be said.

Go back and watch the gimmick battle royal from Wrestlemania 17 and tell everyone here that Doink The Clown wasn't over. Matt Bourn killed it as the original Doink The Clown and the gimmick was over. You could say the same thing about the Undertaker and Kane. The big difference between Kane and Undertaker is that Mark Callway and Glenn Jacobs had the talent to get those wacky but now classic gimmicks over where as Terry Taylor did not. There's a reason why so many people within the Wresing business respect and love Callway and Jacobs as people. You can't say the same about Terry Taylor. I love how people point to the Red Rooster but are completely biased to Undertaker and Kane despite both gimmicks being far more "unbelievable" than the Red Rooster.

Philosophy is important. Heyman has been spinning wheels for awhile. Bruce's Smackdown has actually improved over time (though I hate a lot of Bruce's ideas), and the ratings have been going up. Heyman's RAW has been struggling. I think Bruce just understands Vince's vision and how to make it real and doing the best he can with it. Others will half ass it, hoping it fails so they can be proven right (and hoping Vince will change his mind upon the failure).

No stupid, well in the last there were, but they didn't make us watch a 3 segment Apollo Crews match. Just as I was about to fast forward that match, he cheated to win. So they're giving him a character. Like Eddie. He didn't need to cheat, but maybe if you're not cheating then you're not trying? We'll see how it goes.

They do NOT cater to the "smart mark" audience with their main roster shows anymore. They've made that clear. @Thomas Bugg not saying he would not on knowledge and talent but there in a mathematical some what fucked up system here. No matter what not a word against Stephanie, I mean Vince demoted HHH well ok. Stephanie and Vince prior to this start firing agents. Prichard fired brought back fired brought Back. Same wit Bischoff and Heyman, Watts was there before and fired I think everyone is watching Bruce right now because it's a pattern that Vince is nuts and working for Vince is sure fire. Not that Watts can't do it but Vince's company Vince's world and Big Bill likes his golden years just fine.

It’s called a “YES” man or more accurately a “BROWN NOSE”, not someone who gets it! He was/is a yes man/brown nose cause he’s probably making a fairly large salary and doesn’t/didn’t want to lose it! He finally worked it too where it was him and Vince Mc calling the shots with him agreeing with VM on everything to keep that seat plus he more than likely has zero ideas himself! I would bet a million dollars that Bruce P would agree with what VM was saying then adding “that’s exactly what I was thinking or that’s what I was going to say Vince”!

Bruce is the one who brought backstage segments back to life in WWE. Remember when Batista returned and they had the camera angle of him pulling the camera guy to where he beat up Flair? Bruce produced that. The Jeff Hardy car accident segment that started Smackdown a few weeks has his style all over it. Story might be in bad taste but people are tuning in; definitely were googling Jeff that night if they didn't tune in the first 10 minutes.

I just wanna say... in 2003 I was in Ocala at Dory Funks and that's where I met my bff. He has had a solid career, earned the respect of his peers and best of all is a great great human being. He was in MLW during Bruce's reign and at their equivalent Royal Rumble event they put on in BK some time ago he was able to crash at my place in NYC instead of the hotel in New rochelle everyone else was at. While he says Bruce is a decent enough guy he said that Bruce was in charge of booking that Royal Rumble and that Bruce just completely ignored all the then concurrent storylines, not really featuring any of them for any spots in the rumble and that while the event was fun and a success etc the creative for the Rumble just made no sense at all from a booking standpoint. It's one small item of many to back up Brian's statement of Bruce being "creatively bankrupt"
