Jim, when I was in college, I had an off-campus home. One evening, I went into my bathroom and as I'm peeing, I looked down and I saw a large black circular object behind the commode (didn't have my glasses on at the time) and immediately had an idea what it was (a water moccasin). I backed out verrrrry slowly and went outside and called my maintenance man. Luckily, he was in the neighborhood and came over and dragged it outside where I took my trusty silver aluminum baseball bat and handled business 😂. It's a good thing I didn't have to poop, b/c I probably wouldn't be here today.

I've got to say, I'm a little disappointed in Jim in this instance. He claims to be an animal lover but has to kill a tiny, defenseless little snake? 18 to 24 inches is actually really tiny and it's pretty much impossible that the snake was in any way a danger. He very easily could have just gotten a bucket and brought it outside. 😢

@@FreeThinkAlways I have a 5-foot corn snake and he's completely docile and harmless. He's not big at all and the snake Jim killed was less than half that size, so it had to be really fucking tiny. I'm a huge fan and I appreciate Jim's dedication to animal causes (although I DO remember him not being a big fan of reptiles), so maybe that's why I'm so disappointed in him in this instance. This clip was a hard listen.

When I was about 9, I was sweeping off the back porch. The broom hit a solid lump, which turned out to be a coiled up copperhead. My Pawpaw was tinkering the shed in the back yard, so I hollered for him and he came running, shovel in hand. He chopped it in half in one swing, scooped it up, and headed out to toss it into the woods.

I’ll never forget the day when I lived in a rural part of Louisiana we had a furniture delivery when something slid inside the door. My girlfriend levitated from one side of the house to the other after she realized it was a snake. After I found the no good SOB under a bed. @@Micfri300 that's why i specifically mentioned garter snakes, which are one of the most common small snakes in jim's (and my) area of the united states. the venomous snakes here are usually one of a few species that are pretty easy to identify too

The chances that the snake was venomous are extremely low. My guess is it was just a harmless garter snake. There are great podcasts that can inform people about snakes, which are harmless, which are venomous, etc.
