and the only viable destination for them…. I’m afraid none. WWE especially under new management would find Jeff a liability who is beyond salvageable, Matt’s weird takes lately may not go well with Trips. Impact? 50/50 but leaning towards unlikely. They know too damn well their own issues with the Hardy Boyz. Honestly I wish both Matt and Jeff never left WWE. Their legacy would’ve been intact and with Triple H and Nick Khan under the helm they might have benefitted from it.

I always envisioned the Hardy’s being the big tag team in ROH. In a perfect world Tony would have used ROH as their version of NXT. Put the majority of the young AEW talent down there to learn to wrestle, while also populating ROH with some older talent who could A) bring audience to the show and B) help the younger talent.

The Hardy Boys apparently don't want to be The Hardy Boys because they want to reinvent themselves, one of their biggest stars in Bryan Danielson doesn't want to be the world champion to put some recognition and prestige to that title, Kenny Omega seems to want to do everything except having a singles run where his name and talent actually means something, Moxley can't wrestle normal matches like he used to because he's too infatuated with garbage matches, they had the most captivating and convincing heel in the entire business in MJF who is now a babyface doing comedy, etc. It's so strange.

I can't really blame AEW for not wanting to have the Hardys do much. The moment either of them do anything they look like they're in agony and I don't think that's them overselling. I think both need to retire for their own sakes, get whatever issues they have sorted, then take a backstage role that won't leave them clearly suffering all the time. They both look like a tragic in-ring (or out of ring) accident waiting to happen.

I honestly think the one thing that would still help AEW out tremendously is hiring a dedicated booker with real experience. The “inmates running the asylum” followed by “rich mega wrestling fan playing with his toys from his toybox” was less of an issue/able to be overlooked in the early years when everyone had fresh, new ideas and/or wrestling fans would just overlook that type of thing because AEW was new and “would grow out of it”. We’ve come to surprisingly (or unsurprisingly depending on who you ask) discover that that blueprint was not sustainable long term and once the company was out of its honey moon phase. AEW’s booker is when you strip it down to its bare essentials, a guy that’s never booked wrestling outside of fantasies in his head like some of us have as mere fans. Tony needs to wake up. AEW still has a ton of talent and was on the rise for a while. It’s stagnated. I would go as far as to say it’s growth is stunted. Like imo it could continue to grow and become a better wrestling product but it just feels like they’re stuck for whatever reason. Whether it’s disorganization/chaos or straight up delusion that they’re where they need to be already. If they simply got a real booker and Tony Khan was just able to sit back and be the money man it would at least move the whole company in one direction versus feeling like the promotion has a rope tied to each limb and it’s being pulled apart by fcking stallions or something. Keep the variety in wrestling styles. I like that they showcase western, Japanese, lucha, etc styles. That’s not the problem. It’s overwhelming presence and feeling of disorganization and aimlessness. I want to be optimistic (no matter how it clashes with being realistic) and believe that AEW can get on the right track and start climbing upwards again but I just feel as an outsider fan/viewer observing all this that there are people in the promotion making or influencing decisions that just aren’t seeing where they’re at and where they should want to work towards being.

@RedShogun13
@RedShogun13 7 ай бұрын
@@corrosivealtars You really don’t think if some of the young guys were taught right/out of their bad habits they could be good? AEW has been a roller coaster and has had its problems but talent has seldom been one of them. A lot of the talent can be numbskulls and they have to much access to the keys to the car which imo is the bigger issue. Not the potential or physical ability of the roster. Let’s not pretend that they don’t have people they can build on if they got any semblance of their act together or again, if they taught some of these young guys coming over from the indies a little better. AEW has talent on their roster. Booking is an issue. Having a booker who is able to decisively tell talent “no” when they propose doing 450 splashes from the rafters to a table onto social security recipients on free TV has also been a *painful* issue. It just all strikes me as a lack of foresight or intelligence less than they don’t have talent or talent with potential on their roster.
@RedShogun13
@RedShogun13 7 ай бұрын
@@corrosivealtars I would also argue that regardless, a good booker can make a mediocre roster seem good and a good roster look great. Star power and match magnitude is all perception anyhow and a solid booker plays a tremendous role in all of that. I’m not saying hiring a real booker would fix all of AEW’s woes but is it really hard to imagine that that would be a big plus as a whole for them considering their most glaring issues?

We have a saying in English football, "his/her legs have gone"--meaning, the player in question is too old and/or too injured to have the stamina and strength and physical ability to play routine full hard matches across a season. In those cases, the player either retires and becomes a coach or pundit, or stays on but only as a perma-bench player or a substitute in easier games to guide and support the full-time juniors. This is what the Hardy Boys need to do, now. They can no longer work every show or PPV, and perhaps not even every month. They can't do the hardcore stipulations any more, either. Time comes for us all, and quicker for those who have a bused their own bodies.
