It's WCW in the mid to late 90's 2.0 for sure. There have been little glimpses of it here and there but it's almost like they're *ACTIVELY TRYING* to mimic the "Monday Night Wars" all the way down to the whole "claim to be pushing younger talent and structuring your company around that concept" whilst in practice doing the complete opposite by constantly signing big name ring veterans to lucrative deals at the expense of paying younger talent less. It must be unreal to have a practically limitless amount of money to just throw away like that....

Signing Flair should be the biggest showing that AEW doesn't know what to do and is just scrambling. The company doesn't really try to appeal to anyone now, at least before they appealed to the Meltzer "dream match" brigade but now they are filled to the brim with old talent and can't seem to decide what they want to do and how they present the product. It's becoming a complete shit show and that's without mentioning CM Punk.

The fact that Jay Briscoe was never allowed on AEW but a supposed sexual offender is, is nothing short of farcical. Additionally, Tony Khan claims he fired Punk because he “feared for his safety and his life.” How does the women’s locker room feel about THEIR safety now Flair is here? I mean, is it though? There have been so many moments at this point, that Ric Flair's energy drink feels more like something that gets mentioned as an aside while talking about the downfall of AEW. And that's saying something considering that we're talking about Tony Khan hiring a 70+ year old alcoholic with lingering s*xual assault allegations to plug mushroom piss energy drink on his premier wrestling program.

I loved Surge! And when they brought it back in like 2015 I still loved it. I bought a ton of it up until they discontinued it yet again thanks to that damn covid. Definitely a potential candidate for Funniest Moments Volume 3 Omnibus. Brian reading the description and losing his mind at the preposterous nature of it. And the best way to sum up his laughter was for Jim using the punchline to lighten things up, "What does it do for hemorrhoids?" We know Jim will still have a spot for Ric Flair in his heart, but hes hoping Ric is smart with this but dreading the inevitable idea of Flair wrestling again. With the Man, you never know and he could try that idea. All 3 of the participants in his last alleged match are working for AEW. This energy drink business capitalizing on the wonders of organic mushrooms mixing with caffeine and the other compounds will run its course and be profitable, for the suckers at least. Maybe it'll flop and maybe Ric can book himself in another promotion.
