@@vargas1569 I was playing on the fact that Shawn famously 'lost his smile' that time he dropped the WWF Championship in the late 90s, and Paul London got fired for smiling during the Vince blowing himself up in a limo segment. It's quite well known that Shawn didn't actually train Danielson all that much, and that the majority of his training was at the hands of William Regal. They just played it up on TV when it suited the narrative they were telling. Also, both Kendrick and London absolutely screamed indy talent. It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that London's only memorable moment was getting decapitated out of the Rumble by Snitsky, and the first thing that anyone thinks when Kendrick pops up is 'lol Spanky'.

For me beliability goes a long ways. And it seems to me like believably has gotten somewhat Rare. Its not that I expect them all to look like bodybuilders, but I want to think that makes some sense when I watch them in the Ring. From what I've watched of the Thez ara I can usually think that. I also tend to find Fit Finlay believable. A heel needs to be believable as well. Look like they are tough enough that they need to cheat just a little. Or be mean with the cheating. Just don't over do it to where the whole match is one big cheat fest. Unless its a special match like no DQ.

Vince Russo in WCW. Inexcusable insult to every actual wrestler who wore the belt. Even in non-kayfabe, absolutely unacceptable. Patricia, Alexis, and Rosanna's idiot brother wasn't much better, but still not as bad. Vince McMahon was bad, too. Shouldn't have happened either, but at least it was a part of a now-legendary storyline and he could do a few things in the ring. None of them well, but at least it was _something._ Russo might as well have pulled down his pants in the middle of the ring and defecated on the belt. Putting the belt on people who arent't actual wrestlers is worse than anything any wrestler has ever done while having it. Although people like The Great Khali come dangerously close to that realm.

He didn't draw any money because he immediately handed over the title to the Million Dollar Man for a boat load of cash (I forgot how much). This angle was similar to the Larry Zbyszko Tim Brooks angle where Larry gave Tim $ 25,000 for the NWA National Title. Ted Dibiase kept the title for about 3 weeks defending it against Bam-Bam Bigelow in a house show until the on-air President Jack Tunney decided to strip him of it and have the title be put up for grabs in a tournament at WM 4 in 1988. Though the WWF initially recognized Dibiase's run, they later removed him from the record books as champion: not recognizing him because Dibiase never earned the title by pinfall or submission.

As far as worst world champions go, Ron Garvin imediately comes to mind. Reason being is cause it's obviously been well documented that they wanted to repeat Starrcade 83 with Flair winning the world title, which meant that someone had to beat Flair for the title, hold it for 6 weeks and drop it back to Flair, problem was no babyface wanted to do it because doing that (beating Flair for the title and drop it after 6 weeks) would "kill their stock". The only person that didn't have a problem with being a 6 week champ was Ron Garvin. Now, here's a guy who was 42 at that point, being a mid-carder for most of his entire career, this was his only oppertunity to be a world champ, he defeated Flair in Detroit, then after that, the fans turned on him (despite Garvin being a babyface), the crowd was probably thinkin "this guy's a wannabe poor man's copy of Flair, he doesn't deserve the title, so we're gonna root for Flair to get the title back" which they did, Flair beats Garvin at Starrcade 87, becoming 5-time champion in the process. So, in essence, Ron Garvin was never world champion material.

It's hard to say since some title runs can be better than others, but the worst World Champion in modern WWE history has to be Alberto Del Rio for me. All of his title reigns were hard to watch. If we're including the modern era, then Kofi Kingston has to be at the top of the list. Perennial midcarder saddled with a comedy gimmick for years, suddenly thrust into the world title picture. He holds the belt for a few months, never looks convincing or is treated as a top guy despite holding one of the two world titles, and then gets squashed by Brock and fades right back into the same midcard spot he left as if his world title run never happened.

As much as this comment is going to be ironic, most consider Ron Garvin a bad world champion. Ironic because I loved it when he defeated Flair in September 1987. "Some" consider him not world title material, though I did. But it was Jim Crockett Jr who ruined his run giving him the announced time off till starrcade. But according to garvin that was dusty's idea to have garvin win, the time off and Flair getting back.

Definitely Arquette. He only got it because he was popular in the 90's at the box office and he had a movie coming out called Ready to Rumble which featured tons of WCW wrestlers, When they gave it to him, many people hated the decision and still do. Even Arquette had a look on his face like "should I do this?". 2nd was Ronnie Garvin. Garvin was a good worker but he was never a massive draw like the NWA big wigs were. Even when he won it from Flair, the faces all came to the ring to congratulate him to put him over. Dusty Rhodes and Nikita Koloff got on top of the ropes and pumped up the crowd to really put Garvin over. Garvin and Rhodes should have been tag team champions. There's a match between Rhodes/Garvin and Arn Anderson/Ric Flair. Rhodes & Garvin win easily, and the crowd went NUTS. You could have had Dusty do all the promos/talking, and have Dusty and Ronnie wrestle as a team. In that match, they were really in tune with each other. It would have totally worked. Shame they didn't do it.

They just need to stop using the title 'World Champion'. They're only company champions. Makes me think of an article in one of the Apter mags eons ago where they would would have the NWA, AWA, and WWF world champions, with each one having a list of top ten contenders. Well, after a while, the mag said they would no longer recognize the WWF title as a 'world' title because it was only defended in the northeast, thereby making the holder a 'regional champion'. Obviously, this was kayfabe back in the day, but really it made sense to a young me. The only title that was defended in other countries was the NWA (again, I may be wrong).
