Living in Bucks Co. PA, I was completed devastated at 13 years old when he was killed. Completely. I have & never will forget him & his music which still carries me to this day to which I am now 61 yrs old (NO WAY!) It amazes me how young he was when he wrote these songs & how he knew people. He got them. Visit his grave as much as I can.

Jim has no equal...a musical heritage tragically cut too short. On my last fly fishing trip to Pennsylvania I made the drive out to see the old farmhouse Jim and Ingrid lived in during this time...then drove over to pay respects at his gravesite.

@@griffs3283 thank you!! I typed a long reply and it refused to post. Ugh! It’s my favorite album too. Let me edit this now maybe I can get the comment to post in full lol. I just “met” Maury in 2020. I only knew Jim had a backup guitar player. They passed 7 years before I was born. Through a serendipitous event I googled his name and fell in love! So much so I ended up with a tribute tattoo just to be sure I can share him with anyone curious enough to ask about the tattoo. (His guitar. The Gingerbreadd logo from the album and flowers with his signature). It’s like some mission to share him so he gets his recognition for what did he for music.
@griffs328311 ай бұрын
@@GingerbreaddGypsy your tattoo seems amazing, which flower did you pick? have you seen the muehleisen memorial site? they have a song by cashmere & west dedicated to him that i haven't been able to find anywhere else! “Maury, play your song, / Oh, you played it so sweet / I could swear I see you there / Playing just for me (...)” - i can send the link to it if you want it! i was born 30 years after their passing! something about anniversaries... i do think he changed my life forever; surprisingly i met him through a video thumbnail... the second i saw him i knew i had to see it! and i haven't stopped hearing them since! i found it a couple of years ago and i would love learning more about them! thank you for kindly replying to my comment!

I was born in 1975, and grew up on my parents' Croce records. I didn't realize for a while growing up that Jim and Maury were gone. Now both my parents are gone as well. But what remains are the songs.

Prolific, authentic , true musician,true song painter on a whole different level. His own genre of music and Jim and Maury left a hole and emptiness that we felt also in Pensacola Florida. Another gone way too soon AJ. truly gifted. Thank you for sharing such profound moments in all our shared musical history. So, very special.

My two cents on Jim Croce. I was only four years old when he died. As it was the 1970s and I lived in New Zealand, I had no idea of his story. I heard his very popular songs on the radio. There were several that got a lot of airtime in that decade. By the 1980s I got to wondering what ever happened to 'that guy'? I thought his star may have faded or that he retired while he was at his peak. Before the internet, such things tended to remain a mystery. Years later, I found out the truth. No longer a mystery, it's a really sad story. It's hard to hear his material and not be convinced we were cheated, somehow. I feel that his premature demise, makes listening to 'Time in a bottle', particularly powerful.

I think I read/heard somewhere that Jim and Maury performed 300 nights during their last year on tour promoting their three record deal. Jim was hardly making any money, even though Leroy Brown had hit #1 and his first 2 albums were doing very well with "Time in a Bottle", "You Don't Mess Around with Jim" and "Operator". He had a bad record deal, not uncommon back then. His wife, Ingrid, had to fight in the courts for years to get back the rights to his music after he died. Their son, Adrian James (AJ) turned 2 just a few days after Jim died. It was pretty sad. I met Ingrid in San Diego several years ago. She had 2 really nice restaurants downtown. The first was in the Gaslamp Quarter. I went to the second one on Banker's Hill, I think. My boyfriend (in Phoenix) "took me out to dinner for my birthday" one year...at Ingrid's restaurant in San Diego! 🥰 I'm so glad he did! RIP Jim and Maury. You are missed!! ❤❤❤

I grew up around the Filadelfia area seen the way Jim looks. I bet he was bullied and picked on horribly terribly if not beaten up a few times because he looked a little different. I can relate to that. No wonder his music reflects a lot of pain and anger shame love you see you on the other side.

🥀Beautiful Song's I grew up listening to all of his song's. He had unique vocals in everything he sings you could hear most of them came from his heart reguardless of what song it was. I loved his scence of humor he did a remarkable job on on that part of his life but you could feel his words of pain through his words as well. It broke my heart when I heard he had crossed over and I knew he wasn't going to be what he should have been. It just shows us how precious frail and temporary life is. Its short and brittle anything can happen at anytime for for me the next life is the life that we must prepare for, not this one. Because if this is it, if this life is all there is then it is a miserable failure even with all the greats lie Jim Croce whose music I loved. I won't get religious here but I think you know what I mean. Iife is so short look what happened to Jim Croce! SO sad so fast left with more questions than answers. Great music from Jim, really great music. I was graduating from HS when he was killed...1973. 66 now and the music never dies.

Can we remaster this film. It's a good film for Jim Croce maybe he was not as famous like Elvis or Beatles or the pioneers of Rock And Roll. But he's one of the pillars of music that we have today. And we should have regret because even he's struggling as a musician he still do his passion for music he is not after the money or record sales but at least he sing and do music to feed his family Ingrid and AJ let's salute him.

I remember where I was exactly when I first heard the tragic news of Jim Croce's death. I was working at one of my very first jobs after graduating from high school. It was in the office of a large ambulance company. There was this girl around my age who worked there too but in a different area of the office. She walked over to where I worked and told me she had just heard on the radio news the announcement about the plane crash and that Jim Croce and all others aboard were killed. She knew I was a fan of Jim Croce. I was so, so sad and felt devastated to hear this terrible news. So I think back on that long, long ago day, when I was working at that office of the ambulance company and that's where I first heard of the crash of the plane that Jim Croce was killed with others.
