Very true...jamaican kids were condirioned early into physical fitness. Many communities dont have school busses and regular public transportation. Fromban early age kids are conditioned to run and walk to school, the store and just about everywhere. Track in jamaica is also an inexpensive leisure in rural communities..all kids need is a place to run sometimes bare footed. Kids get joy out of running. There is no hockey, no skating, rarely any swimming. Kids just run.

I know she was working with lindford and Frankie Fredricks during this time. It’s a shame she could have been unbeatable her pick up from 60-70m was insane I wonder what her fasted top end was?

@Dom Dom She did not serve a ban. she was cleared of doping violations. get your facts straight! I dont support the allegation against Devers and Torrence, but Merlene was clean and won every medal she received between 1980 to 2000 Olympics and Worlds, fair and square. She was just naturally talented, gifted and had longevity. She even made the semifinals of the 2004 Olympics! Allyson Felix is 20 yrs in the game and is still running at peak level...so Merlene is not alone in the category of longevity and endurance.
@poohbita_884 жыл бұрын
@Dom Dom Do you even know why the suspension was lifted? It was because Nandrolene is naturally produced by the body and the levels found in her body was below the minimum IAAF levels considered to be doping/externally administered. Naturally produced nandrolene spikes during a female's menstrual cycle and when engaged in rigourous activities. At the time Merlene ran and was tested, she was on her period and ran 2 races, 90 minutes apart. So the natural nandrolene in her body increased. When the IAAF Appeal Board took away/subtracted the increase caused by her period and rigourous activity, they found her levels to be way below the doping threshold. So sir, No1 is saying she didnt test positive, but her positive result were due to naturally produced chemicals. If you care to read the judgment it is on the IAAF website boo. I doubt you will thou: trying to taint Merlene's legacy seem to be your bread and butter. Know your facts thou...#stayblessed. The ban wasnt reduced, it was lifted, eliminated and nullified as if it never occurred! She was not penalised, none of her results were nullified and ALL her results stand as of this day! Oh, and she got 2 more medals in Sydney despite not training for a year!
