This is from a show that was on tv a few years ago. Artists would come to Jimmy’s home studio and re-do their first set with Jimmy accompanying them, they’d have a chat in between songs. Great show. Jimmy is amazing and anyone who can’t hear that doesn’t deserve to hear good music

It always amuses me that Mark still to this day considers himself a guitarist who sings a bit... and not a singer who plays guitar.... kind of typical for a naturally talented musician - they never think they're good enough and most lack confidence.... seriously .. the fact that he remains such a humble person after so long is another stand out part of his talent to me. Awesome duet - love that their bond is so close too.

As you said.... Barnesy can sing anything
@Dr_KAP2 жыл бұрын
Anyone who says Barnsey is screaming knows nothing about the human voice, vocal chords, and talking/singing vs yelling/screaming. If he was screaming all these years I can guarantee you he would have destroyed his vocal chords long ago. The pressure on the vocal chords caused by screaming very quickly leads to hoarseness and breakdown of the chords themselves. There is absolutely no way one could sustain a scream at that level for all those years. Besides that, he is in key - you could hit a single note in key with a scream.. but you can’t control a single scream to play a melody- only the voice (which we can control) can do melody in key.
@rivertam78272 жыл бұрын
That's not strictly true, there are vocal coaches who specialise in teaching Screamo musicians to constantly scream night after night without destroying their voice. What Jimmy does is different to Screamo though.
@Dr_KAP2 жыл бұрын

I was lucky enough to work at a major venues for Australian bands and over a 10 year period would have seen Jimmy live at least 50 times during that time. Diesel was sometimes in those shows and I'd seen Diesel/Mark 15 plus times. I've seen Jimmy play 5 times over a long weekend and still be belting it out deluxe till the last song of the enchore of the last show. My favorite memories of watching these acts was getting to see sound checks and one time in particular standing with Jimmy's brother Swanee belting out Jimmy's songs back stage. Aussies have tall poppy syndrome, we've always had great bands, we don't always appeciate them
