Would Schultz have been able to identify Workman? If he could it was a risky move considering how many h itmen/murderers they had under their wing.

I always thought of that . But just because he was working for Dutch doesn’t mean he actually met him . He was probably under who ever was handling the war while Dutch was in hiding. Most of Dutch’s muscle got shot that night. In Newark and Manhattan.

Very strange looking back at those old photos & newsreels. In an odd retrospect, despite all of the difficulties, adjustments, & language barriers, despite so many barriers, hardly anyone is obviously out-of-place, loitering & wandering aimlessly, or looking bewildered and just plain “lost.” Of course, if anyone did, no skilled photographer would’ve been likely to waste film reel or camera film on them, it could be argued. Still, combining all of the videos on this channel, I’ve seen so far-starting straight-up ghetto gangsters, mainly, plus several overlords-the entirety depicts a microcosm of USA-living in which nobody’s incapable, inept, stumbling. Everyone is an “expert” at something or other. Maybe it’s just the dress code of the era: hairdos coiffed, ties pinned & clipped, sharp-dressers & down-dressers. They all had some big adult presence that’s just absent today. It does raise the eyebrow that so many mugshots of underlings often show they’ve been beaten, bedraggled, & bloodied before being propped in front of those cameras. (I never noticed anything amiss in that mugshot of Bugsy Siegel until this very vlog, where the left eye is clearly out of center! I’ve seen that photo dozens of times & he’s obviously a teenager, insisting on wearing his hat indoors. But every previous time, youngish Mr. Siegel just appears to have lost interest & is rolling both eyes up-not just the left one.) Just a footnote to a footnote. Everybody looks “grown,” & fully capable besides. How disappointing to do any time-traveling & find out they were just as vapid & vacant as so many are today. But they couldn’t have afforded to be-not as killers getting away with nearly all of the killings they carried-out. Against their own friends & neighbors, too, in many cases. People they grew up with, they took out. How eerie was that??? “Charlie the Bug” lived until nearly the ‘80s. I guess by the time he got out, everyone he knew was already gone. Long gone. But he never officially ratted, soooo there’s that. Good story, Boss man! 💐🪅🌷🍁🍂🍁

The gangsters were mainly stupid, violent, bullying bastards. It's easy to romanticise them because they were so stylish - they in large part defined the style of the era - but that's what they were. Look at Charlie Workman: even his own family said that he was no good. These people were not well-liked by their own people, the people they came from and lived among: that should tell you something.
